Forgive me for replying to a post from the previous thread, but it died in my sleep and I feel an emotional need to argue against it.

Except that's all wrong. All of it. Every single thing. The trick to hitting the EoC is to rely on DoT effects to finish it off near the end or to just spam and hope something hits. Avoiding it is simple enough, runfast boots do the job.

Worm Scarf is for many players considered a worthwhile damage reduction item well into endgame, Shield of Cthulhu is a great jump boost for the boots early on, even in mid-air, but still has use at late game as it becomes an integral item for countering Fishron's final phase, the Hive Pack is fucking fantastic if you're going Full Beemancer before hardmode hits (and, if you're using throwing, magic, or ranged, there's a lot of reason to), Royal Gel is very, very useful for reducing the annoyances of building a base in per-hardmode as you don't have to stop every few seconds to deal with a slime, also spiked slimes like those found in the jungle or tundra are no issue at all, Demon Heart is a WHOLE EXTRA ACCESSORY SLOT, and so on.

Spiked slimes can fire a spread. Skeletons can throw bones. Tundra water is a hazard. Bats have one of the most annoying debuffs. Lava slimes shit lava on death, which can make it a pain to work on your bridge or get furniture out of the structures. Giant mimics reflect projectiles in general when shut, but in expert, these reflected projectiles result in dealing damage to the player. It's more than just stat buffs.

Is anyone else having ridiculously high enemy spawn rates?

I posted about this last night. I thought maybe it was just that I hadn't played in a while and that's why I kept getting overwhelmed. But again today I'm getting swarmed by enemies. At one point I was attacked by seven demon eyes and one zombie at the same time. It wasn't a Blood Moon, I didn't have a water candle or battle potion. I was all alone, then all of a sudden there were eight fucking enemies around me.

Is it just me? Or is anyone else seeing more enemies than usual?

Expert Mode is not worth the frustration of completing. I'm going in against the pillars as a mage, and I am jiving around. But jiving around isn't good for anything when all the enemies ignore hits and can instantly come flying at you when you're in midair. Or when they can go right through terrain. And when they take like 10 hits of your strongest spell each to kill and there are 20 of them on the screen.

I almost wish there were a way to keep a map from entering hardmode even after killing WoF. I fucking hate hardmode. I understand what they were trying to do, but it's just so horribly designed. Everything does way too much fucking damage, and suddenly every single enemy attack passes through blocks. Pre hardmode you have so many choices and options. In hardmode, you have exactly one way you are allowed to play, one very small selection of accessories and weapons you may use. It's fucking stupid.

It honestly looks like a classroom or a diner, with windows behind the tables, you need to do something else with the chair/bar combos. Another problem is that there's no shelves with styling supplies or anything that you'd find at a hairdresser's.

Perhaps you need to add those hair drying things for perms, you know what I'm talking about. Or sinks for hair washing. Or extend the mirror to full length across a full length counter. Or add some paintings that look like hairstyle glamour shots, those are often in such shops.

So you guys think we'll get more info on Otherworld soon? They had mentioned months ago about they're not happy with the direction they're taking the game, so I'm wondering what the fuck they're gonna do about that.

Expert Mode is such a fucking miserable experience. Because it takes the already unimpressive end-of-game variety and shrinks the pool of viable items to a mere trifle. And it takes enemies that were already bullshit and makes them insufferably bullshit. And it takes bosses that were already hard and makes them needlessly frustrating. And it turns an optional grind for items and potions and makes it absolutely fucking mandatory. You need to know where the celestial pillars will spawn so you can pre-bulldoze and fortify the areas. You need to spend hundreds of hours fucking around just to beat simple things.

It's anti-fun.

On the Crimson VS Corruption question, I think the Crimson fits the game better, but the Corruption has the better enemies.

And by fits the game better, I mean in the sense of the Crimson being akin to the corpse of a fallen titan and comments made by the developers. The Moon Lord was described as being "Cthulhu's brother". And if you want to run that as a theme, then you have the Eye Of Cthulhu and the Brain of Cthulhu and the Wall Of Flesh. And it follows a theme.

It's happened to me and at least one other guy, too. It was so bad that I had to cheat in some life crystals, just because the constant swarms of enemies prevented me from making any progress.

So where's the new desert content? I started a brand new world to test it and everything was the same in the desert. same small area, same enemies, same underground, nothing different.

Is anyone else noticing their progress bar on events is randomly disappearing and reappearing? I know it usually disappears if you go too far from the center of the map, but even when I was in the center it would suddenly disappear. This happened during a Martian invasion and a goblin invasion.
