I survived so far by guilting ANY medals.

Guilted story medals won't get you very far, at least not past mission 500 I presume.
If you want to stay 100% f2p you'll need to find a party with good shared medals, level up as fast as you can so you get better shared medals from whales and save those jewels for occasional carnivals.
Don't buy premium costume boards apart from the eight that get you more cost nodes, don't spend jewels on continues, get your skills from the monthly coliseum boards.

Honestly, the best way to play this game for the story only would be to wait until it ends, then you can grab all the over-powered medals and breeze through it, bonus points if you still save your jewels from the daily login bonus until then.

The only medals I have are from rare pulls I have with medals.

The maximum I have is a 5 dots Master Form Sora. The rest of my 6 medals, aside from the Sora & Pals, are 3 dots. Because they were.
I do the coliseum every week, and the events too (as far as I can go) so I can get some Cid, Chip & Dale medals from time to time.

I'm trying to guilt the YRP trio (at least I'm beginning).

You don't have to wait until the very end, but the draws will get better and better, that's how these games work. They need to be very accessible to function, so someone who spends a lot of money now can get to be the king of the whales easily.
Continuous deck building will always be outclassed be simply getting new medals, especially in the NA version where you get so little free jewels.

If you're really here just for the story, log in every day, get your jewels, but wait until next year and spend them all in one carnival, you won't be disappointed.

The game makes about approximatively 577 k$ around the world per month, counting the 2 versions of the game.

It works well on both iOS and Android for the worldwide release, but for the Japanese version ...

Well we know from DDD's ending that Yen Sid is going to train her like he did with Lea.

So I'd make her an active part of the group. Maybe a mage type sort of like what Aqua was in BbS. It would work well with Riku being the strong one, Kairi the magic one, Sora the balanced one. Lethal Frame is pretty sick and I relied heavily on it to kill Larxene 2 and Riku 4 but a single target sleight isn't great when fighting ~15 enemies. I'll give the other sleights a go though, thanks.

Best bet is a well aimed Blizaga. It has great range and can damage multiple enemies pretty well. Firaga will target your locked on enemy so that's useful as well. Blitz is probably your go to after Lethal Frame.

You can only dual wield if you have two hearts,pretty sure both have to be keyblade wielders, in your body. It's not that if you have more than one keyblade than you can do it. Aqua has her original keyblade and Master Keeper too but she can't wield both at the same time.

i went with the full english version (english subs + dubs). it's a bit janky desu, there's an issue where only the first line of a character's dialogue will show as subs even as they continue speaking, but it's not a huge issue

Try talking with your party members and see if there's at least one or two times when you can all coordinate to be on at the same hour. Even having two hours at different times of the day helps, if you're in different time zones. If you could do it team raiding is more efficient than individual farming.
