is this the end of console generations? Instead of having on gen last 5-6+ years with very customised hardware, they just make their systems very close to a regular PC and update date them every couple of years.

I'd be happy with a system like that. Have games be compatible over at least two generations. ie every game on ps4 must work with pro, but it is up to devs whether they patch games to fully utilise the extra hardware. it's also up to them whether they provide support the third generation and beyond. Given the hardware is not some ps3 custom snowflake it is much easier for games to just werk without devs having to patch at all.

I think there needs to be a cutoff point where devs and people have to move onto a new console. Imagine if the PS Pro was Forwards Compatible with PS5. Devs will never be able to use it's full power because they're not allowed to abandon PS4 Pro. PS5 has to be it's own console.

It's seriously anti-fun. Pay-to-work faster and slave harder. That may be the point, as this is a communism simulator, but I don't know how Sony expects it to be profitable if the core gameplay isn't fun. The founders pack gives you Bourgeoisie Papers, along with Arms and Tool licenses. If I'm already bored after a couple days with these privileges, how will the F2P users react to having even fewer? Progression is too slow. There's no island/enemy/town variety, no meaningful town customization.

The "projection clone" thing is a severely poor design choice.

It's just confusing. On my first day I was at an island, bombarded by explosions, and I couldn't tell where they were coming from. Later, while I was mining, the light source near me disappeared, as if it was deleted, so I had to quickly get out of the hole before I took too much damage (you lose health from being exposed to darkness).

On top of that, the camera auto-adjusts annoyingly and the framerate sucks. Not very easy on the eyes with the shallow depth of field and oversaturated colors, so there's no excuse for flashy effects to come at the cost of good performance.

The only positive things I can say about this--in its current state as a $20 game on PSN--are that the lighting is impressive, and it's relaxing for around twenty minutes at a time.

The only other games I am really looking forward to are Kingdom Hearts and Tekken 7, they are the reasons I got the Ps4 on the first place.
For Honor looks kinda fun but its from Ubisoft so I'd best to expect anything.

I do keep a look out for other smaller games that seem to be a good play, I try out every free Ps+ download but they usually end up being rather boring instead, except Journey recently after replaying it.

No sane person would look at what seems to be the absolute worst development cycle of a game and expect a good game out of it. Everything they've shown points towards someone at Square finally giving up and forcing them to rush something out the door.
I implore you to watch that 50 minute demo again without your fanboy glasses on. It looks absolutely horrific, and not just in terms of visuals. To think you could find something to look forward to in that baffles me.

I recommend Gravity Rush Remastered, Disgaea 5, Odin Sphere Leifthrasir, Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth, Valkyria Chronicles and I Am Setsuna. I think all of those are quite enjoyable and palatable to most tastes. If you've skipped over any of those consider giving them a second look.

Also Feels good owning Skyrim on PC and getting the remaster stuff free due to that. What sucks is that supposedly mods will have to be reworked and I really can't enjoy Skyrim much without RN&D/Frostfall. Once those are made compatible with the remaster I'm gonna get mad comfy though.
