Then why not two corrosive? You're losing a mod slot for 90% damage, which is good, but things like crit builds are pretty jammed as it is what with Serr, HC, Point Strike, H Shot, and Vital Sense.

That's 5 already, then corrosive for 7, so why heat which is resisted by high level Grineer and Corpus (I think) over fire rate, punch through, or a speciality mod like Combustion Beam or Thunderbolt?

corrosive is the best vs anything with armor unless you have 4xCP, and heat is the best element when considering only the basic 4. Not every build has room for 4 90% mods, usually 2 or 3 is what you have room for

you typically want a corrosive+heat and a viral+heat setup, and having one on each of your primary and secondary is a good idea - this is because you are stacking as much of the most relevant damage type for your target as you can while efficiently adding to your total damage, then basically treating heat as an auxiliary type because you don't want to use a slot on something less than a 90% mod like a dual stat (unless you have another slot open and want to add even more to your preferred damage type)

if you have a crit build or a focused status build, you're probably only taking corrosive or viral, not anything else - but in the cases you're describing, having shred for firerate and puncthrough is the universal utilitarian choice (I even take seeker on my secondaries)

also hammer shot is almost always a bad idea as compared to an elemental mod thanks to the way the numbers work out

from my understanding, a good boilerplate set of mods for most weapons (and what almost all of my builds end up looking like) is something like:

90% tox | 90% elec/cold | 90% heat | ??? (utility slot, or add a 60% dualstat tox or elec/cold mod)

Nigga no. Build Zeph for maximum duration and efficiency. Range helps too but isn't necessary. The only worthwhile Zephyr build (IMO) is a Turbulence build with or without Jet Stream. You want max duration and efficiency so you can always have Turbulence up and keep on tanking. Power strength in Zeph means nothing because her ability damage is pitiful.

Sweeping Serration for shotguns - it works well on all Tigrises. 90% heat is better because it gets better positive or neutral coverage, but it's fine since endgame is lvl 100 enemies now.

Credit farming is usually Dark Sector Defense on the highest level you can find, leave after 5 waves. Dark Sector Excavation works too, 1 or two excavators and then run to extraction.

Capture missions in the Void should be quick cash, and now they don't require keys to run. Haven't checked the credit rewards myself.

Little bothers me more than realizing I have four gold potatoes and no warframes I intend to use them on, but six weapons in need and no blue potatoes.

Funnel Clouds is normally shit, right? Does barely any damage, and the only upside to Tornado is the CC. Funnel Clouds increases the tornadoes but removes the CC entirely, right?

Well, the thing is, let's say you have a really boring rifle. The RBR deals 20 piercing damage, 10 impact damage, and 10 slash damage. It has two spare slots, and you have exactly two damage mods:
A is +50% fire damage, while B is +50% piercing damage.

The way it works is that with B, it increases the piercing damage based on the weapon's total piercing damage. So if you put it into the RBR you get a bonus damage of 10- 50% of the 20 piercing damage.

But with the elemental mod, it takes the weapon's total amount of damage. The RBR has 20 piercing, 10 slash, and 10 impact damage- a total of 40. So the fire mod gives +20 fire damage- 50% of that total 40.
