Hey /gag/, I'm hashing out some ideas in my head since I am planning on writing my own gs at some point (I've been programming C since I was 13 I'm not an idea guy faggot).

Basically, I want to see if I can mix the first half of EU (1400-1600) with some Victoria 2 and CK2 mechanics (pops and characters mostly) as well as some original ones.

I would really enjoy that, desu. A lot of my best stories that happen in CK2 are with loyal courtiers that always pull through for me. In one of my first games I had a chancellor that was great and really liked me. He fabricated a bunch of claims and hyped me to my allies constantly. We both died around the same time and his son was an even better chancellor for my son (and a genius). I landed that guy with a barony, got him married and helped educate his heir. That family was a staple of my council for centuries. It would be so comfy to be that guy.

Can't find a screenshot, But I needed a claim to persian empire and there was a in line to the throne. So I bethrothed my only remaining cousin to her (Political concerns is a helluva drug). When she died, her roman chalcedonian daughter spent 10 years in regency then got ousted in a series of civil wars (no shit). But then I realized that the game is won and started a new one, so the story ends there.

Any tips on fast westernization of Japan in Victoria II? My goal is to take Korea, Brunei, and Arabian Peninsula and slowly spread out.

Why were Paradox and Reddit so frantically denying that CK2 had huge performance issues some months ago? "It's your machine", "Have you got the right drivers?", "Maybe you are just unlucky". But after the "Reaper's Due" patch, the amount of people playing CK2 on Steam increased by 3x and several articles report 50% to 200% average speed increase even on high-specs.

Were they just lying? Or have they reached the part where they have lost their sentience, existing only to defend Paradox?

When you start out as the Shogunate: University reform > railroads reform > administration reform. That's enough to westernize.

Once westernized I go for idealism > ideological thought and state government. Then you unite the country via the Peace with the Emperor decision.

With the free RP from the new decisions you get I typically get nationalism and imperialism > medicine > inorganic chemistry.

If you're playing as Imperial Japan I don't remember well but you should be able to westernize within a few years with the university reform and anything that gives you 10% progress, I think it's the foreign training reform.

But if you start out as Imperial Japan you can't declare war on anyone and have to wait until the 60s to unite the country via the Boshin War.

Chinese RGOs aren't good for industrialization for the most part, it's mostly tea (no factories use it) and silk (too much supply for something you already produce in the homeland, no industries will use up enough of it). Also a large amount of pops will end up being unemployed later on due to relatively small RGO sizes.
