I did over 500 coal runs in Gen looking for a FastCharge +5 OOO charm. I got:

Normal Up, Pierce Up, Tenderizer, KO, Destroyer, Fencing, and Blunt charms, all at +5, all triple slots. I got an Evasion +6, and an Evade Dist +6 charm, both OOO.

The most bonkers has to be the Crit Element +5 Dragon Attack +13 OOO charm.

Makes me laugh when I look back at my +5 Handicraft --- charm from 3U

HH is just a hammer on which you can play songs on. So normal hammer skills but instead of Mind's eye which you get for free you could use Horn Maestro. Although opinions split on that too now with double notes.

I had no qualms about soloing almost anything in 4U besides 140s, HP sponge elder dragons, and quests that stick you in an arena with multiple monsters at once. It still has pierce 2 and 3 and enough crag shots to KO a monster if you place them well. It's not too bad. You don't even need recoil down for the pierce shots if you take a silencer.

crag yeah, but the recoil is so bad that it's just tedious to shoot. pierce has a super low capacity and they barely raise the arts gauge so full housing them isn't a great idea. I just wish it were more versatile, or someone comes up with a retard strong set like they did with the musket.

load up has never been that great for bowguns but it lets you load all usable clust shots for some ridiculous spamming and recoil down+3 is a ludicrously high requirement but makes the gun so good. it helps that explosives are fixed damage so you don't have to compromise with power barrel over silencer.

I run artillery expert and eat for bombardier because I'm not sure of the multiplier applies to just the blademaster weapons and there's nothing else to really eat for anyways.
trueshot makes the triblast and cannon shots stronger but I prefer ammo saver since I feel it procs on me a lot, full house gets filled really fast (so I'm not manually reloading 1/2 shots left over) and combines are expensive.

there's no one size fits all set that gives you those skills (see: high requirements to make the set usable) and you're gonna have to make concessions along the way if your charm isn't good enough (drop down to artillery novice, forgo trueshot/ammo saver entirely). the only requirements are load up, recoil down 3 and artillery novice (eating bombardier) or expert. don't believe the recoil 2 shitters, clust spam is a huge part of your damage output.

yeah, teostra bow. I got tired of it by hr break so I tried a bunch of other bows. I even tried to make the akantor bow work but I couldn't find a good reason to keep working on a set that couldn't get close to a load up/trueshot teostra bow.

I dread the day MH is on a powerful enough console to track small monsters the way it does large monsters when online, which may happen very soon. They won't be at effectively four places at the same time and thus likely to die to the players and monsters just throwing out attacks. MHO already does this I think, and the small monsters in that game are atrocious.

We need more Seltas-type monsters that can team up and do combination attacks and/or monsters that will target other monsters before the hunter. Like some bit metal lightning rod spider that shows up alongside stuff like Zinogre that can redirect lightning. Or a some generic fire wyrm that shows up with Barroths and bakes its mud onto the hunter making it harder to get off.

Seregios is supposed to hate Rathalos' guts, so it'd be cool to have a quest where you have to capture both, but since they're fighting each other fucking constantly you have to be careful.

Elemental gun only really works when you're going all out stacking Element Attack Up, Element +2 and TrueShot Up, since it's all multiplicative gains. Load Up additionally is only really used on Lost Musket, God's Island and Kettleblower where the additional shot allows the otherwise tiny clip sizes to shine. Divine Blessing is pretty much irrelevant.

Speaking as a gunner, I'm fine with HBG outclassing LBG in damage. LBG already has a niche in unrivaled support and utility, if it also had damage to rival HBG's there'd be no point to the latter.

I'm dubious on whether arts, styles and deviants will return in future titles (personally I don't want adept back, I want to just roll and keep shooting without all this choreography) but internal ammo and the back hop charge almost certainly will.
