If you accept all of the text in genocide narrated as them, then you wind up in a situation where you would have to be brain dead to posit that the narrator changes. asriel's a sweetheart and all but half the reason flowey turned out the way he did is because his personality was that of a sheltered and kind of spoiled little kid without much in the way of principles beyond "be nice to people," which fell apart when he lost his soul

so like any little kid he needs instant gratification and goes crazy trying to keep himself occupied

She lied to Undyne for fear of getting rejected. Not exactly healthy, but a very common anxiety problem that needs to be worked through like anything else.
She never lied to the families about what happened, she simply didn't respond for fear that she'd be made an outcast (something shown to be completely wrong, given that the families and the amalgamates were both perfectly fine with what occured)

i think that's what bugs me the most, there's actually a decent amount of potential in sketching out a character as vague as chara but a lot of their fanbase seems intent on putting together one uniform consensus as to what kind of person they were and unsurprisingly it's boring as hell
