Been playing through classic sonic games today and I'm beginning to think I just suck. I tried finally beating sonic 1 but i lost at Labrynth zone. That game can really be unforgiving. Getting sandwiched between anything will kill you and there's times where I feel like invincibility frames are just a silly myth.

Also the Speed cap bug will slow you down when you press right when you exceeding normal run speed. Sp to go fast you're going have to roll or let go or not touch right when going really fast. Like, there are some issues where Bunnie or Sally or even an entire arc for Nicole, but overall any progression is done primarily by the game cast.
Sonic Universe has had Knuckles and Shadow and Eggman being op, and most things have been conquered by Sonic.

That was only the case in Shadow's own game and 06. In SA2 Sonic's team was just as involved in the plot, the Dark story only showed you the other side of what was going on. In Heroes Team Dark's story was centered around figuring out Shadow's deal and really had nothing to do with Eggman or Metal Sonic. Part of their character arcs could be them becoming more likable, like Bunnie finding some way to just accept that this is how things are and that she doesn't need anyone to be validated as a person, or Sally becoming a good leader, or Antoine becoming brave and learning that blind loyalty will get him nowhere. If you start them out as perfect, they're boring. They have to become the characters we want to root for.

Did you not read Bunnie's origin story? The whole point was that gave her self-esteem and made her feel welcome in the world. It was even Antoine, of all people, who inspired her to live with herself, just as she inspired him. After all, "being brave isn't about not being scared. It's about doing what needs to be done even when you are scared."

I get that you want to add depth to these characters, and I can see how you or some other people might be upset with the SWC's glancing over of literally everyone but game characters, but you need to realize that people are attached to these characters and the way they are. Rearranging them MIGHT attract new readers, but it would likely turn away fans of the comic and new fans, in the process.
