So are they going to actually explore the consequences of changing somebody's persona by force biting the cast in the ass or are they going to play it safe and have them do it to people who completely deserve it since they're complete assholes rather than being stupid teens who'll do it to people for the sake of convenince like changing the MC's realtive's heart to make him love MC and not question anything MC does. It's persona after all, so I'm expecting it to be very safe in terms of writing and the kids will be 100 percent correct in their actions and arguments when eventually some cheese head adult with the same powers as them goes on a rant against them like Takaya and Adachi.

It might be like in Death Note; at first people supported Kira because he was killing crimminals, then they started treating him like a god and fear that he might kill them for basically no reason.

On one hand, the MCs are playing god with their powers, on the other hand if you have that ability, whose to say you can't do it? Simply going "What gives you the right to change people to suit your world views?" doesn't mean shit when the people they are changing are all horrible maybe if they change someone who didn't need to be changed this goro person would have something to go on but as of now, he just reminds me of those naive idiots who thinks everyone deserves fair treatment in society even when society clearly won't ever change to accept that.

I don't think it's going to be a blatant "the kids are 100% in the right all the time and all adults are evil" business, but it's important to establish why the cast feel as strongly about this as they do. If they don't really have a good reason for lashing out and joining the Phantom Thieves, if their problems are portrayed as too morally grey or ambiguous, it's hard to really get attached to them or their struggle, which defeats the whole purpose of the game. It's fine to have characters like Kamoshida, because there are real people like him and they're a good catalyst for the story.

Hashino said that having most of the Co-ops as adults let's them explore the theme of "failing to fit into society" outside of the Palaces and also appeal to older players more, so if you worried about the adults always being portrayed as nasty or evil, I really doubt that'll be the case. But if you're hoping for a "the adults are 100% in the right and the kids are always wrong" situation, I think that's just silly and go against the message of the game. There's a balance.

Just watched the animation. Sadly I don't think Persona combat will ever not be corny in anime.

Anyway I think the detective at the beginning observation is the key to P5. Changing people's hearts through force is not a good idea. They think they are doing something good but actually I would bet the farm they are serving some sinister power in doing the work they do.

A-1 is like Shaft, they only care about one thing and that one thing does well they'll do all their efforts on that and ignore everything else. Toei animation is the same way, Precure gets all the good animation while One Piece and Dragonball Super will look like shit all the time. If I had to guess, P5's would be about how trying to change the whole world is impossible, and while people exploit the constructs of society for cruelty, it's possible to exploit them for some good while you're still young and those very constructs are designed to protect you.

It's an especially important thing to point out in Japan where plenty of children do the opposite, and actively exploit the law to ruin other lives while shirking all responsibility, and unlike recent developments in the west, trying Japanese children in court as adults is essentially unheard of. Of course Atlus might not be thinking about that at all and that opening disclaimer might be more focused on the portrayal of law enforcement than anything else, but it's at least worth a thought.
