The ranking system is so bad. I finished 52 after my placements last season immediately after I reached level 25, then I dropped to a whopping 35 (partially due to a few hiccups from my internet connection and just random bullshit), then I climbed back up to 48 before I said fuck it and gave up. Playing in the lower ranks just isn't fun if you have a pulse and isn't stoned as fuck. And yet, it's really easy to lose ranks but takes a lot more to gain.

Not to mention that I mostly enjoy playing Lucio when I'm playing ~seriously. So fuck me.

Mics are only generally an improvement if your team is already competent. A bad team isn't likely to be saved by communication, and a good team was probably already doing well enough without the communication, but still uses it to improve the efficiency of their teamwork.

Think of it like a percentage improvement to your "stats". If your stats are shit then +10% means nothing, but if your stats are already good, then the +10% can be that little edge you need against another competent team.

Of course, if you're doing well without communicating much, then there's likely a point where a mic would just be redundant. You see this a lot in games where the metagame is commonly-accepted knowledge: everyone knows the general role expected of them, and they know based on ally picks what their allies are expected to do. There's little ambiguity in their roles and everyone is allegedly competent enough to respond decently to situations as they occur.

You could replace her with any character and the player would probably still suck. Only reason Widow gets blamed so hard is because her abilities other than Infrasight can't be properly utilized by a shit player the same way some other heroes can.

Why is the brawl infested with so many shitters? I keep seeing Reinhardts that don't block the first bridge, people that are flanking that shouldn't be flanking, and healers ignoring people. I just want to learn the map in a setting that doesn't make me want to kill myself.

One thing I noticed as a shitter while watching high ranked matches is how aggressive everyone plays, because having a healer is a given. Down here in the 40s hell half the time I'm running for healthpacks or waiting on the biotic field to cool down, and positioning myself in a way that enables me to retreat if things go south.
