For dedicated pyros, CFA is usually not worth the att slot and FL because you'll already be starved for them. It doesn't scale all that well compared to other buff spells. Carthus Flame Arc is basically just a free resin for primarily physical builds that don't otherwise make much use of attunement slots or their FP.

For infusions, you generally want dark instead of chaos, though. Both do the same amount of damage, but dark is generally more effective against pvp targets.

SL80 is very niche, the best weapons are the ones that are already maxed at their usefulness at this level, which are 2kat, css and other meta shit. The reason they are meta at 120 is that they are so low investment/high rewards you have room for anything else you need while still packing them.

Like at any level all of a sudden casters magically get good. Won't matter of its 50 or 150 for pure casters because what's wrong is the spells and other shit that levels can't help.

Same with melee. You think at a certain level the meta weapons won't be as good or something and your dumb bad ugs or dagger will all of a sudden be the best weapons? It don't matter. A lot of the best weapons are not the best just because of ar but moveset, speed, reach, and safety from punishes.

Dark and lightning are the least resisted elements in general, but their resins also add the highest raw number to damage, it makes no sense

The problem with faith is that the investment to get good damage is too high.
Like I said, at 40fth with both damage-boosting rings I got about 600 damage with a sunlight spear. That's nothing. Half of the time I baited someone into an unfaltering prayer cast, they managed to get two R1s off with a UGS or greataxe before my sunlight spear finished casting. End result is me taking 900 damage and dealing 600, and my opponent never falling for that trick again.

At 60fth, I deal over 900 damage and out-trade virtually everything. no weapon will deal more damage in 2 hits than I deal with that spell, which means that the condition for successfully applying the spell to my enemy always results in a favourable position for me. That is the absolute BAREST minimum for a spell to be usable. You do not meet that minimum with 40 faith, and cannot fit 60 faith onto a level 80 build without compromising vigor.

The spell doesn't suddenly become good with more faith, but it, at very, absolute least stops being literally so bad that casting it NEVER results in a favourable outcome for the caster.

That is the state of miracles, sorceries, pyromancies and hexes right now. That is the state of damn near everything in DaS3 that isn't a refined quality weapon right now. That is the state of much vaunted Miyazaki touch that DaS2 apparently so sorely lacked, with its viable casting and weapon/moveset/build variety.

Pchain is very bad in pvp and 27 vigor is very bad for invading, especially at level 80 when most targets will have +9-10 weapons. You'll literally have passworded phantoms mash into your unfaltering prayer and 2shot you before your spell goes off, and one mistake will result in instantaneous death.

My main invader has 1400HP as a red spirit at level 80 and I frequently die in 4 hits to greatswords. With only 27 vigor, you would literally die the first time you made a single mistake against 2 people.

Agreed 100%. Some of the new sets in 2 were fantastic. Syan's and Throne Defender were amazing. The main problem 2 had was having vastly different textures for what should be the same material, limiting mix and match potential. Fucking 50 different kinds of chain mail.

I hate how running out of estus generally isn't a threat. Sure, if you get invaded early on or as an early spellcaster having to split them can be a bit rough. But I feel like having to backtrack and respawn things or continue on without healing isn't a thing. The worst part of the bosses in DaS2 is that they all just sound terrible. The only bosses who made any sort of impression on me are the Smelter Demons, Velstadt, and the giant tigers in Eleum Loyce. I mean, we know Dark Souls 2 was set after DS1 and in a different area from Lordran(the devs said this before release so I don't know why they teased with the possibility that Drangleic might be Lordran).
But the game feels like it was set in the "past" because there's just some sorta "primitive" feeling about some things in DaS2. I was excited that maybe we'd see shit like fire sorceries or that sort of deal. I also liked the feeling of travel through the land in DS2, but quite frankly unfortunately the level design suffered for it in parts imo.

In spite of liking 1 more, I'd suggest playing more of 2 if you're concerned with PvP. I honestly believe 1's PvP is better but the tech skills feel absurd and your off the floor options after being backstabbed aren't intuitive (for the love of god, don't sprint away). DS2 feels weird and sometimes poorly done, but it at least comes off as coherent without requiring you to google anything (aside from how stupid shit like ADP works).

The other guy suggested good stuff though. BSS is a good simple DS1 weapon with pretty generous hitboxes in relation to its speed. Hexes can be easymode in 2 but they'll probably prevent you from liking the game as much as you could if you're overly reliant on them.
