Above is a pastebin of games you can play while waiting for SC and E:D to become playable.

they can be useful if the pilot has them in mind, but one thing they could do is gyroscopics; keeping the turret centered on the world as much as possible rather than turning with the ship.

also, some of them are just plain shit. I dropped into the connie bottom gun last night and it was atrocious. it only gives you a little disk of space to see and shoot below the ship, rather than actually covering it's lower hemisphere.

>if the pilot has them in mind

This is why the turrets will generally be useless if they're manned. Every ship I've been in with competent pilots has demonstrated that they need to be constantly twisting and turning to properly fight. It usually left me staring off into the vacuum of space or just out of reach for the person we were fighting.

Only time I can see it working is if the larger ships lose all their maneuverability but gain massive armor and turrets to make up for it.
>>
>>153288009
Apart from stabilization they really need to give players some incentive to sit in a turret for potentially hours apart from a pair of shitty S1 or S2 guns. Upgrade to quad guns, add countermeasure launchers or ECM gear to turrets etc.. There are more than enough possibilities, but CR seems quite set on his WW2 in spess.

what needs to happen is for pilots to have their ship in mind and change their playstyle. The retaliator is covered in turrets, correct? therefore it should focus on being as far from targets as possible and staying steady to allow as many guns to maintain focus as they can. where it's pointed is not particularly important until something needs to be torpedoed. so it should be max speed and not twisting or turning much ideally.
the connie which actually has pilot guns and missiles would be somewhere between this and the typical dogfighting duck n weave.

I think the current nerf of the connie's turning capability might be an attempt to shuffle people towards a more successful playstyle than trying to be a giant hornet.

some friends playing the other night said they had a blast fighting off multiple fighters with their connie turrets around grimhex, and they not only survived to escape but actually killed at least one.

that looks like the most frustrating fucking thing imaginable. it actually looks like a pretty nice cockpit that would be really cool to hang out in. but you can only see it in your peripheral vision.
>>
>>153288563
Not entirely true. I've played as a rear gunner for a Freelancer and positioning is not really an issue since I'm not very restricted in where I can shoot, which is everywhere but something directly below or below and in front of the ship, in which case the pilot needs to readjust so he can shoot anyway.
>>
>>153290862
Not enough if the 47m includes the ship plus rebuy. Empire rank grinding can be done in a Hauler, really. You'd probably have to run away/combat log more often than you'd like with that kind of Python.

I mentioned in another comment but I was top gunner for a cutlass and it was terrible. Also top gunner for a connie, also terrible. Having to rely on the pilot to be conscious of the turrets at all times is just bad design for a defensive mechanism.

Large ships like the Connie aren't meant to be maneuvered against small targets. The idea of having manned turrets in different parts of the ship is that wherever the fighters are, you can always pick at them even without using the main cannons. The only thing CIG needed to do better was to place the turrets better so there aren't any major blindspots and the turrets' view overlapped as much as possible for concentrated fire..

>maybe a shield
Naw, not after the Engineers update. Shields are a must just to absorb damage while you make a getaway. Getting pounded while charging FSD is absolutely nasty these days, what with all the new weaponry the NPCs are sporting.

I'd gather money for a bit before buying. It also feels a lot better to get into a decently-rated new ship from an older ship.

Remember space Chinadude for a discount on that Python hull, too.

>>

>>
>>153292218
I'm still hoping they give the Constellation the ability to swap out the deathtrap fighter with a manned turret. That fighter slot is in the exact perfect spot for a turret to protect the ship's ass.

>>153292478
I'd say they're useful on the freelancer since it's nice to be able to give a response to anyone trying to attack you from behind as you're hauling cargo or something. Whether you're going to try to fight or flight, having a counter to that massive blindspot is invaluable -especially when the ship itself isn't very maneuverable. It's pretty secondary on the cutlass and entirely a selling gimmick on the SH.

I half expect the cutlass remake to be worse than the current model... either in flight model or less firepower. They seem to be dumping/nerfing the early multirole ships and trying to divide the game up between combat only ships and low offense ultra-specialized profession ships.

Well turns out some of it just wasn't possible due to lack of internal space. Like the retractable turret and internal missile racks. The rest was that they just wanted to get it out the door as fast as possible so they effective just built the ship our of bits of the retaliator and sabre. Also one of the fuckers who made the Redeemer was involved with the mess.
>>
>>153302112
It looks like the Hoplite has a different interior, so here's to hoping along with that ship comes a revamp so it doesn't just look like they slapped Retaliator bits in there with no regard for how it looked or worked.

Not a Cutlassfag but I don't like that idea very much. From a game design perspective, it's better to have the everyman options be slightly above average if anything, because in every game it's always better to specialize.

If you play a roleplaying game, the dude with stats of 4-1-1 is going to be better off than his friends with 2-2-2 arrays, and the challenges of the game have to take the upper bound into account so the 2-2-2 guys wind up not being able to succeed at anything in practice. They get along better when they are 3-2-2 and 2-3-2, and it's not like 4-1-1 guy isn't still going to shine at his thing.

basically shitty interlacing is why it looks smooth. You're taking something that is 15-25fps, then doubling up on half the frames giving you a video that is perceived to be smoother. You can do this with 24fps movies and 8-12 fps anime as well in order to get a "smoother" viewing experience.

Why would defunct derelict NPC ships from yesteryears get a commercial? That's like giving the Talons from Privateer a commercial, who fucking cares? They're outdated junkships because you need those in the game to fill with NPCs and make your players feel like skilled heroes for destroying at better than 50% odds.

Has anyone tried to reduce a ship's emissions with mods to reach a point where they're effectively in silent running without having to stop venting heat? It seems there are at least a few mods that decrease the heat generation of components and power draw of components to the point that one could smuggle without having to go into silent running or power down everything in the ship.

So, I was playing Elite: Dangerous - Horizons in the past few days, and I found a planet, with a mountain in a crater. I figured I’d be “Crazy”, and land on the top of the Mountain, so I did.

I was there, landed a few minutes, dozens of lightyears from anywhere, and this twinkly piano piece began to play. Looking out, over the majesty of stars, sitting so Small and alone, I admit that I teared up a little. I did. I was overcome by it all.

It’s incredible that the life’s work of a Cambridge scholar, to create a believable simulation of our galaxy, has all but come true. And it’s only going to get more real. Imagine the next generation of Quantum computing, a Thousand times faster than modern Machines. Though most likely, some of that will be swallowed up by larger displays with Higher resolutions.

But for sure I'll not be paying for season 3 if they implement this. And there are many other people saying the same on the officals. The devs are disrepecting the lifetime pass holdres, they are disrepecting the time people have put into the game, they are disrespecting the time people have spent getting decent ranges on their fighting ships. And if they go through with this I'm sure they'll pay a financial and reputational price for that.

Sure they may attract more casuals in the short term. But casuals don't keep buying £30 expansions every year, and paint jobs, and bobble heads. Casuals will be picking it up dirt cheap on sales, playing a bit then moving on. For a game with such a long term development fan annoying what looks like 70-75% of the player base is really not a smart move!

No I mean something that actually makes use of your cargo space, and the differences between cargo spaces.

Say your shitty non-combat ship can hold 1,000 units of junk in the trunk. You fly through the enemy checkpoint, surrounded by asteroids or whatever, and your ship now has 1,000 enemy flags in the trunk. You take that back to your base and you get a bunch of points. Someone in a way better fighting ship, one that would kick your ship's ass if you had no escort of your own, could fly through and only pick up 50 flags, which it could zip back to base and pick up a few points for too. That would be fun, give more ships more uses before the PU arrives, and would help test relative transport efficiency of ships a bit too.

I don't. Large ships in most Sci-Fi have some variant of chaser weapons for when they're hauling ass behind something trying to run. Besides, it's fun when a ship that's not paying attention strays in front of a Starfarer and turns into a cloud of debris instantly. It forces you to pay more attention to where the fuck you're flying. Besides, when they took away pilot weapons we got the Retaliator, and just look at the state that's in.

Since turrets really suck to use, the lack of forward facing, pilot-slaved weapons turns the ship into a sitting duck in almost all situations. The interior, in addition, is so poorly designed that if you want to get to an escape pod from one of the turrets when the ship's going up, the answer is "you don't." It's just a horrendous mess in every capacity you can think of.

Michael is pretty based.

What the dads don't realize is that even Braben wants basic quality of life features, and the game just happens to be developmentally in a place where they can start focusing on adding them. Braben never intended for the game to be a carbon copy of the original, he wants it to evolve past what its predecessors could do. This is all part of the 10 year plan the dads worship, but like petulant children they shove their fingers in their ears the instant Braben threatens THEIR vision of the game.

It's time people call out the dads on their hypocrisy.

The avenger has the saddest history ever.

It was originally concept billed as "A Space A-10! Wow look at the big front gun if you like A-10s you're gonna love the Avenger!"

Then the Vanguard came out and everyone goes "Oh... it's like... it's more the A-10 than the Avenger. The Avenger is actually kinda shit I guess."

Then it got the interior revamp which made it fucking impossible to move around with any amount of quickness and it just became annoying as hell to use.

I won't even bother stealing an Avenger in Crusader because of how shitty it is to get in and out and just overall use.

Yeah the interior is anti-comfy. You literally need go crawl and move through a narrow as fuck walkway, moving the camera either side is enough to make your character hit a wall (or the bed, the way it's so cramped and forced in)
>>
>>153310787
Probably very recent since the debris is still near each other instead of floated away. Even 1mm/s would be several kilometers away after a day.

That said I jumped into a "recent combat aftermath" USS inside a planet's exclusion zone and found a dead Type-9 surrounded by canisters. The canisters started falling towards the planet as soon as I arrived.

>Then it got the interior revamp which made it fucking impossible to move around with any amount of quickness and it just became annoying as hell to use.
That one is true, they did shorten the animations while moving through it but it still takes too long to reach the cockpit.
Once you're in though, it's a crazy maneuverable ship with fairly good firepower once you replace the shitty laser cannons.

I really like that idea from an immersion aspect, but I feel that it could seriously get in the way of gameplay.

If I'm a pirate and I sneak aboard an enemy ship, I'm going to be rushing as fast as possible. A door is a door, a ladder is a ladder. The slowdown hitch should come from the player knowledge of said ship.

Maybe I did an Ocean's Eleven kinda heist and researched the fuck out of the ship layout before I even attempted it.

As someone with a lot of time logged in eurotruck it's not even close. Driving in eurotruck is just fun because the gameplay is being a good fucking driver and not letting stupid bongers fuck up your load because big ben seems to strike wimblybong every 30 seconds. Also there's something about going no GPS in a fresh truck and driving practically blind. Flying in E:D is boring shit because there is no actual gameplay within supercruise, it's just point your shit at your destination and tap your 75% hotkey when you hit 7 seconds eta.
>>
>>153311756
They haven't exactly removed it, but currently you can only have one enter or exit animation from an object like the cockpit. You'll be able to exit straight out like you can in the Warlock once they're done making the different prompts a thing.
>>
>>153311910
Fine, but nothing is going to happen if I start grinding ranks and get a better ship? Different missions, more possibilities anything like that?
>>
>>153312136
Cockpit entry is still there. The warlock variant uses it since the EMP generator takes up the cargo hold. The engine can't handle multiple points of entry/exit yet, so you can't use it in the normal ship. Hopefully patch 3.0 fixes this. Also that the regular mustangs get a cockpit entrance option as well.

They've kind of shot themselves in the foot by making all the ships to flexible. Something like only bigger ships can mount synthesis/crafting modules, or AMFUs, or planetary vehicle hangers would have been an idea. Meanwhile only smaller ships can land on the bigger planets.

Actually thinking about it the first thing we've seen that some ships can do that other can't is launch fighters.

It's not only that they're flexible, it's that that is the depth of everything you can do in the game. And you're correct, ship launched fighters is the first thing that the big ships have exclusively.

They might do it to stars at least. Which helps for multiple star systems.

I'd like to change hyperspace out so that you come out at a fixed distance. Like 10 AU or so (should be safe, I don't think there are any stars bigger than that). That way different size stars would look obviously different. That far out of the gravity well you could ramp up SC speed faster. Having to travel down to the star would slow explorers down though. Maybe they would have to change to doing one long scoop instead of scooping at every star.

It's already like this. Smaller ships tend to emit less heat. The problem is usually that people then cram them so full of the highest power components they can find that they heat up like miniature stars anyway.

Also shields dramatically increase your signature since you're basically emitting like a beacon.

The diamondbacks in particular have phenomenal thermal management. You literally cannot lock on to a stealth DBS that's hardly 800m from you.

Things I wish engineers did:
Allow splitting an internal components into 2 smaller ones, size 2 into 2 size 1's.
Join internal component spaces together to make a bigger one, 2 size 1's to make a size 2.
Allow using the internal space of 1 internal component space to increase a "core component" size, like using the size 6 space in an asp for increasing the size of the FSD housing. I want a ship that's 90% FSD.
Turning hardpoints into internal component spaces, size 1 weapon mount into size 1 internal component space.

Things like that.

This would have been great. Could be balanced by requiring you to use x to x and y to y components, core components only work with core, etc. So you're forced to sacrifice something to get a better effect for something else.

HRPs would need to be looked at cause they have weird scaling, but everything else should be okay.

>Join internal component spaces together to make a bigger one, 2 size 1's to make a size 2.
The only issue here is that FDev supposedly mapped out the inside of the ships, so the two module bays you are trying to join might actually be on other sides of the ship.

>>
>>153320909
They're going to need to map where the internal component spaces are if they're going to do internal maps for the ships, which means they could have made it so internal components could be turned into external hardpoints. Like a crazy mod would be to turn the turning 2 of the Type-6's size 5 internal mounts (32 ton spaces) into "large size" hardpoints mounting 16 ton weapons (with 16 tons wasted due to the conversion).

Sort of a Q ship, expect freighter but receive vulture space superiority fighter.

>>153320909
Some of the engineer weapon effects are just fucking dumb. Many of them should just have been upgrades you can apply to the weapon in outfitting, like the IFF safety lock, or different ammo for torpedoes/missiles/MCs/cannons etc.

The reverse at least would be super easy. Convert weapons bays into module bays. As long things are checked so that military ships don't become superior multiroles or freighter becomes the best combat ships it would be interesting.

But it could unlock some interesting stuff, like a civilian version of the Asp (instead of the Scout that we got) where they convert the C2 weapons bays into sensor housing or something.

On the one hand I'd love to explore an anaconda's internal map, but on the other hand it's going to be a lot of devtime sunk into what's essentially docrative. Unless they put in "star marine" type things into elite. Board a derilect/pirate anaconda, kill people, salvage/steal stuff. Star Citizen's ships are much smaller so they can have a lot more detail, the Freelancer's long straight internal corridor would fit into a sidewinder or eagle, not so much for the cobra or asp. There should have been more reason for players to stay in the small ship territory, along with more small ships.
>>
>>153322687

Yes, which would require SC have functional ship designs which it rarely does.
We just have accept those little maneuver thrusters can produce enough push to keep these fat ships aloft against gravity force.
>>
>>153323972

A Q-ship. Like you see this merchant ship that looks like a juicy target and then it just turns around and points a lot of guns in your face.

Except the Keelback's hardpoints and distributor make for mediocre firepower and it can't actually turn around because it maneuvers like shit despite the huge fuckoff pivoting engines.

Also it's slower than the Type 6 it's based on and just as fragile.
>>
>>153322687
Make it so the rotating engine also doubles as the landing gear?
>>
>>153323929
So they added a major structural weak point to the ship (remember, those damn engines also contain the real landing struts)... just to shave a few klicks off a landing vector? If they had fixed the engine nacelles to the fuselage and just stuck an extra couple of maneuvering thruster to the bottom of them, it mostly would do the same effect, while probably being cheaper and making the ship more structurally durable.

Still stupid.

The Type-7 was actually popular early in the game's life, but only because its refuel and repair costs were bugged.

Back then repairs cost 5% of your ship's total value for fixing the equivalent of 100% damage (so the same as a rebuy). Plus repairing wear & tear (called integrity in the repair menu now) was another 5%, so it cost up to 10% to fully repair a worn down and badly damaged ship. Double what just crashing it and rebuying cost. Needless to say most people opted for the insurance fraud.

Fuel also had a tax against larger ships. A Type-9 cost something like 300K to refuel.

Then along came the bugged T-7 which had the repair and refuel costs of a Sidewinder. You could trash the shit out of it and it would cost maybe 5K to fully repair and refuel.

>i still don't really know how to use it

Just fly close to the star. When close enough the scoop will engage and start refueling. Mind your heat and don't get too close.

You can only scoop from main sequence stars. Dead stars, protostars, carbon stars and brown dwarfs don't have hydrogen-rich solar wind to scoop.

You don't need a scoop if you're careful to keep your destinations within range of your fuel supply.

Mind though that some stations are isolated and far enough outside the bubble that you may not be able to reach them without a fuel scoop to refuel along the way. 17 Draconis (for grinding fed rep) and Sothis (long haul missions for mad dosh) are examples of these. Running out of fuel is not a pleasant experience:

Depends on what else needs doing. There might be a point where most of the devs are working on something that the artists don't really have much involvement with, and that'd be a good time to put them on ship interiors. I mean, in theory most of the other stuff you'd need for that would've already been done for stations, right?

Then again they still need to make models and textures for station interiors. And alien ships. And atmospheric worlds. And the infinite possibilities of alien flora and fauna.

Maybe someday.

Man I wish we could scoop from gas giants, but I can't see what advantage it would give you. Given that we are getting pulsar-charged superjumps FDev would probably just make gas giants give you superfuel somehow.

There are plans to be able to fly into the cloud layer of gas giants. I'd imagine you could scoop while there if it's hydrogen-rich (which most are of course) but for better or worse Braben seems to have a policy against putting parts of a system in when the whole thing isn't ready.

I refitted to suit the situation, like throwing on a fuel scoop if I was going a long way away, or armoring up with military bulkheads if I was sticking within a 20LY range for a while and a station had the armor available.

Is there any reason to get an Anaconda over a Corvette or a Cutter?

>Combat

Anaconda has more Armor, but with Engineers you can make a Corvette a planet glassing death machine and a Cutter can have over 9000MJ shields with shield cell banks that restore more than your full shield total.

Cutter outclasses an Anaconda's cargo total by far.

Cutter, due to the above

>>
>>153340930
shit,I've been using an adder for mild combat zones for a while, and as long as you don't get targeted and only go after stragglers you're good with anything
>>
>>153340930
DBS is a superior combat ship. Nothing else handles like it. It doesn't have the space to do multirole though.
>>
>>153340930

It's not multirole. It's a fighter that happens to also be long range. Hence the name Scout.

Imagine if the Viper mkIII had a bigger powerplant, tougher armor and shields, double the utility slots, bigger internals, ran ice cold, was more maneuverable and actually had jump range.

That's the DBS.
>>
>>153340930
slightly larger powerplant, twice armor, slightly weaker shields, same guns, same internals, +2 utility mounts,
Big things are that it's one of the most maneuverable ships in the game and runs cooler.
Negative is that it's much more expensive a rated dbs is 8mil vs 3mil for a rated viper.
>>
>>153341132
Why the huge jumprange then?

>>153341108
My tactic with the Viper III so far works wonders for getting a bunch of credits. But the DBS is kinda affordable now.

Anyone know how much to kit it out and how high the repairs get?
>>
>>153341278
That answered my question. But im still around 1 mil I think.

Thanks guys.
>>
>>153341132

courier is better than dbs
>>
>>153341365
>Anyone know how much to kit it out and how high the repairs get?
Check Coriolis ship builder. The base hull is half a million, but fitting out the rest of the ship can take a bit.
>>
>>153341365
Because it's a scout ship, or a poor man's explorer. And exploration ships only need enough space for a honker, scanner, and fuel scoop.

It's a superior combat ship entirely because of the agility, and if you fit it for stealth its untargetable beyond 800m or so.
>>
>>153341275

Viper has lower base shield stat than the DBS but its lower mass means it gets more benefit from a class 3 generator, so the shields are a bit stronger if you're running a 3A.
I guess you could counter that with a booster though, which the DBS has the power for.

>>153341482

Courier can't turn though and "boom and zoom" combat is pretty shit in ED.

At least the shields are monstrous.
>>
>>153341641
>Stealth
Explain. Not necessarily my playstyle but might be interesting.
>>
>>153341709
No shields, silent running with heat sink launchers to manage heat build up.
>>
>>153341709
You detect things from the heat they generate, DBS/DBX generate little heat, with no active shields and using heatsinks to drain their heat they're every hard to detect on scanners.

It's a risky way to fight.

>I actually enjoy the long dreary spaceflight thing. If only there were space legs

what's really funny is that star citizen is building all this "space legs" tier shit first.

All the RP components and FIDELITY and "immersion" and they'll probably end up taking the game type functionality out of all their RP type stuff, making everything just fancy window dressing because it's tedious.
Then they'll remove time spent traveling to and from where you actually want to be be because it's boring. Will they end up scaling down multicrew massively as well because only turbo autists and dads want to stand around wiping down consoles and managing subsytems?

They're like bizzaro inverted versions of each other.

The bad part is with rngneers mandating farming materials on planets with no in game method of finding the element you need (arsenic) without moving system to system checking every landable planet in the system map to see what dinky % of its makeup is arsenic if any.

never ever

I don't think there's any point in EVE growing beyond what it is.
If CCP would like to get into the whole space freedom gimmick like SC, E:D etc they should just start again from the ground up with a new title.

okay

why not module repair? If you get too fucked up a module can break with an option to repair it yourself just enough to get to port

it could also happen with heat damage like that time everybody had when you need to scratch your balls just as youre coming out of witch space and you nearly fly into the sun

That wasn't what the rioting was about as I remember. The players were furious and freaking out because of some leak email about the addition of the cash shop including blue prints and ammunition and said email was just board room talk with no definite decision. Also because of the very idea of adding a cash shop to a game with a subscription, which is just full-auto trigger for the kind of autist nerds who diehard EVE.

The reason EVE development is so lack luster and nothing came of legsplay is because the company is full retarded and they poured all that man power and planning into a vampire MMO that got shitcanned without seeing the light of day (hyukhyuk) instead of sticking to their guns and developing EVE further.
So now they're stuck pumping out more power gap ships, watching retention sink like lead in water, and nonstop forum whining about SP holding the game back.

They would very much have to speed up supercruise speed due to the stop but it could serve as a check point especially if there was a gas station in the habitable nav points. Wouldnt change system jump time at all because of the cooldown.

In my opinion, the issue with "tedious" elements is making it work inside the game and serve an actual purpose (and preferably, not be actually that tedious) other than autist fluff/glorified cooldown/timesink mechanic.

I can get behind things mentioned before if they help enforce other gameplay elements (like player's jobs, professions, player driven narrative (economy, jobs etc.)) or curb unwanted ones (for example griefing). I suppose it's very hard to do right though.
I'm not sure if you get what I mean, it's hard to explain properly.

If only EVE was truly good. I really wanted to get into it, multiple times, but never could. I'm autistic, but maybe not that autistic. The actual gameplay sucks and is so mind-numbingly boring it's no surprise EVE developed real-life-esque shenanigans tied to its gameplay so its players can cope.

Hello commanders,

the forum gets overheated whenever a thread regarding combat logging appears.

Real life happens, there are situations, when you simply must quit & go... Yes, it can happen even during combat situation. People got used to abuse it - combat log.

FD gave us a 15 seconds timer, which is now more than sufficient, because it takes a lot less time to blow up traders ship with modded weapons.
I have read the "CEIL" thread (https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/284757-Combat-logging-experiment-in-Cail-Results) and many voiced their understanding, why those poor defenseless traders combat logged out of the game.
Simple solution to this mess is this:
Deploying hardpoints is now way too fast. It should take 3x-5x times longer... It would allow the trader at least go through FSD cooldown without taking damage from the attacker.

If its "too harsh" to generalize that long time for hardpoint deployment, this could affect only the ship, which has initiated the interdiction (and add to the lore respectively - e.g. interdictor overheats the ships surface, so it is not safe to deploy hardpoints to prevent damage or something like this to make it believable and consistent)

I think that this would give traders a little more breathing space and a chance to escape psychopath roleplaying commanders... People might wanna try more to escape instead of loging off...
Please don`t burn me alive, but I would like to hear your opinions :)

Karlos

It's weird how far some people want to take the simulation aspect sometimes. The thing with eating and shitting is that even from a pure and obsessive simulationist "replace my life with this video game" perspective, you still need to take breaks to do those things in the real world. You'd be doubling up a timesink redundantly by doing pretend breaks and real breaks as well. Just imagine your apartment's toilet is a part of your spaceship if needed.

Cucks are a real thing too. Now go and use the word in any conversation, on any board. Or "degenerate", that's nice too.
Memespeak, buzzwords etc. dilute the original meaning, obscure the point you're trying to convey (unless you're shitposting, which is a plus, that's why they are so popular). It's a mental shorthand that doesn't even work that well, because it relies on malleable (and often wrong) hive-mind conceived meaning.

I understand that (even if I personally don't care). I can even understand the need and practicality of creating a loose term to encompass all these individuals so when it happened, the flow of conversation was easier (and it's probably how the term came to life) - a shorthand.
Besides I'm not vehemently against the term in itself, nor I'm advising to simply drop it. It was an example, among others (cuck, kino, degeneracy, literally, autistic etc.) for when overusage (memespeak) dilutes and degenerates the term even further, creating an essentially vapid meme-word with close to no meaning (or a word that unreasonably skews the impression of the message).

New thread, thank god, let's drop it.
