I asked in a previous thread, but didn't get any replies so I'll ask here again. I'm still having trouble with the following Valkenhayn combo:

Landing the 5B is killing me and it seems extremely tight. Is there some sort of trick to it? Any Valk player feel like giving me some advice?

I have done exactly that with native japanese speakers at several occasions and it went fine. Obviously there were alot of mistakes, but I could keep up a conversation and know general phrases and such. I got to act as a translator once over a full weekend at an event for 2 japanese players and it also went fine.

What am I lying about? Everything I've said is true, two japanese players came out to an event I was in and I was the only one staying in the same place as them, and the only one good enough at japanese to translate for them. Of course it's embarassing since it wasn't exactly something I had planned on doing, but it worked out well and got me interested in learning it properly after the whole thing was over.

That's probably because there wasn't anyone more qualified. To be honest, you'd really be better off if you had learned basic Japanese from scratch before being exposed to animals.

Really, speaking as as someone who's fluent in two languages and learned another, if you have any plans whatsoever to seriously learn a language, throw away the ridiculous notion that you can learn a language to any worthwhile extent from watching anime. Don't even assume that what you currently have one
is in any way adequate. Learn the language properly from the ground up, go to a language class and, more than anything else, immerse yourself in the language with real people as much as possible. Just assume you know nothing. You're already past the age where learning another language is gonna be very easy, so just don't get cocky.

I'm not claiming a thing like that. I am learning japanese from the very scratch, I don't really have much reason to do otherwise. Being able to speak common phrases and keep a conversation doesn't mean anything if I don't know the rules properly and can't read or write for shit. I read simple manga in japanese to try and ingest some media, and I use online tools for beginners to learn.

There isn't anything cocky about what I've said, I've literally just stated things that happen to me and why I got interested in trying to learn it in the first place.

Because of constant exposure. I'm Danish and I speak English just as well, if not better, than I do Danish because I'm exposed to English in every game I play, every show I watch, every person I talk to online, etc. It's endless. I spend far more time each day "practicing" my English than I do my Danish.
If anything, I'm amazed that some of my peers are as bad at English as they are, since they're also exposed to English all the time.

1. Watching TV is more fun than, say, listening to lectures or studying out of a textbook. Students are more apt to learn things if they are actually interested in it.
2. TV has constant native dialogue between the characters. Students who emulate the characters have better English accents than those who only hear the perfect pronunciation occasionally from the teacher (assuming the teacher has perfect pronunciation to begin with).

This works just as well for other languages. Inexperienced chuunis botched the image of learning Japanese through anime, but it's a valid method, and I wouldn't be surprised if several of those chuunis grew up to speak the language fluently.

I haven't played BB in years now and I just started trying out CPEX recently, but I don't remember it being nearly this difficult.

How do you continue the combo with your route? adding a wj.C seems to make the opponent float quite a bit higher.

Too bad the Vita version of CPEX gets noticeable (since its 60fps fighter) slowdown. I'm pretty sure it has to do with the effects, not the sprites. Celica in particular roughs the game up.

Bought CPE on PS3 despite having a PS4 and everything runs fine but I won't take that chance with CF. BB doesn't change the sprites, but the effects are what can cause the slowdown

Izanami. She's far more efficient, far more personal. She toys with people's emotions, dangles what they want most before them, and makes them suffer with their deepest wishes. And on top of that, she has great power.

Ariels has great power but little more than that. She knows how to steal the most rudimentary form of hope, but is incapable of striking people's hearts.

Also, to be honest, for a character who was alluded to since GGX, Ariels was kind of a disappointment. I mean, hell, just based on the fact that she's called the "Universal Will", I expected something far more impressive.

There are tons of Terumi combo videos for CPEX around. The most advanced stuff is driveloop, but it's character specific and difficult so you don't really need it unless your execution is good.
Use 5D 6B 6D 236D combo route on a crouching opponent if you have a non short starter (anything that isn't j.2D or a jab) for meter. Not very good for damage.
Midscreen damage will involve stomps, preferably late into a 2366D (if no SMP) or 6C (66 5D 6C if combo timer/hitbox allows it) finisher.
In the corner you always want to try to get 3C into stomps. If you level 1 stomp, you can get a 66 5B 5D 6D 236D followup off of a jab/throw starter. If you level 2 stomp, you get more damage at the cost of running down your combo timer which makes it incompatible with jab/throw starters into 6D 236D ender.
If you can't land stomps because you're too far with opponent in the corner, you want to go for Orochi Burensen B super. You can get a 6D ender into mixup, or a 6D 6C for some damage.
Example: 5B 5/2C 5D 236D Orochi Burensen B 66 2C 5C 6D jump. When you jump, do a falling j.B so as to catch the opponent rolling (it has a late crossup hitbox). It can beat out some reversals so hold back after hitting j.B. You can also not do it and run up throw or 2B if they emergency tech.
Lastly, Jabaku is your #1 finisher at 100 meter obviously. If you have a jab starter, you want to do 5/2A 3C 22CCCC 2366D Jabaku in midscreen or skip the 2366D in corner. It has really high damage early or late in a combo so close it out before burst regen.
Some meter burning combos off the top of my head:

Some notes: If there's a crouching opponent in the corner, just go for stomps for meter, you do more damage and get the same reward.
The 66s into 5B 5D 6D for corner combos are only necessary if the opponent is too far, obviously. Tip range isn't good enough because 6D will only land a single hit if you do that.
And all 6C enders also have a 66 before them, forgot to mention. Oops.
Terumi has a bunch of ways to use meter and you do need to know just about all of them since scoring a hit is hard with his shit mixup, bad neutral and predictable/reactable pressure. You have to make the most of it, so check out those combo videos and practice as many non OD combos as you can.
There's one more important thing I left out and that's 6C starter/combo extender. As a starter, you can get a combo without burning meter if it's a counterhit. But if it is, and your opponent is in the corner, don't go for level 2 stomps or you won't get a 6D 236D ender. Do level 1, save 2 for RC.

After the stomps, what do you mean by 236D6C? I'm not sure if I'm doing it too slow but when I do 236D it's too slow to let me follow up with 3C, and while 6C hits the recovery is too long to follow up. I'll check out those combo videos though.

The 2366 part is as it is done in one of those challenge mode trials. Tricky timing so substitute 66 6C if you're unsure.

This is the late conversion combo. Since the meter regain isn't good it's just something you do when you're close to closing out the match, and are midscreen with 50 meter.
Keep in mind both side swap, so while they're useful for the damage at midscreen, there are better combos if the opponent's back is near but not at the corner (usually Burensen or 6C rapid routes).

I recently started playing Calamity Trigger to get a hold of the story from the beginning, but I was Calamity Triggered when I saw how many character there are in that game, most of which I couldn't understand gameplay-wise.

Which one of the CT characters do you like the most gameplay-wise? And why?
