I proc it with my potions, I only did that on Uber Labs and Atziri, if not I have constant 3% leech which is more than enough to sustain back the 100 PHYSICAL DAMAGE (Mitigated to about 40), when I take savage hit with my 10k pool I can instantly get the life back up

Dark souls 1 was a hard game. Agree?

However, it gets easier on the 2nd playthrough. And at the 3rd+ playthrough, the game is increasingly easier to the point that I can't play the game anymore because I don't find it challenging anymore. Learned everything and mastered the game.

Now this is something PoE players claiming the game is too easy may or may not take into account but the logic here is simple: Any game you play to death 300+ hours will become easy because you have supreme knowledge of the game, its encounters, its mechanics and so on.

When you have achieved mastery of any game, no matter how difficult it is initially, it WILL become exponentially easier.

Now. I just wanted to discuss this factor with the community. My question is: Isn't it a bit unfair, illogical or silly (take your pick) to call a game you have mastered for being too easy? When you have played 300 hours to 1000+ hours of a game, then ofcourse it will a hell of a lot easier.

I used Dark souls as an example because it is universally accepted that it is a hard and unforgiving game. But for people who mastered it, it becomes trivially easy. I'd like to see arguments for why/how this should be different for an ARPG.

The upcoming shaper fight will probably be extremely hard for everyone because they don't know the fight. But at some point people will have done the fight to the point it will be a lot easier because they know the fight inside out.

The reason I made this post was to discuss game difficulty because IMO when you have played the game to the point you have mastered it completely and have intimate knowledge of every single map boss and game mechanic it will eventually (and should?) become significantly easier.

So get a +1 Max Res one of these add in a Saffel's Frame and you have 80% Max Res and immunity to crit bonus damage. The loss of blocking isn't big since this reduces it anyway.

Well I disagree. It was quite easy from the start. What was lacking was knowledge about what characters actually did.
I can accept that. It's fine. Doesn't make it a bad game. It was enjoyable.

Same thing with PoE. Early on I didn't understand how certain mechanics were and I thought a few hundred evasion without decent scaling would be helping me (and I assumed the estimate was correct too). I didn't understand the importance of health pool and where to aim etc.

But when you're past that the game is pretty empty for someone who doesn't feel like struggling against arbitrary stat checks.
Can you tank a single atziri spear/call/blast? Check
Can you tank uber? Check
And you go on like that.
That's lame. The game doesn't add mechanical complexity because they're uninspired as fuck. And honestly I think the ARPG format and culture is partially to blame. Nobody would play PoE if you cleared like you did in closed beta. Because D3 and all kinds of game have high clearspeeds and people demand it. I'd much rather have large character nerfs and a huge headroom for character utility growth rather than these stats based games.

Its an ARPG these games don't and never will take any skill.

So how exactly is this game fun? I just hit level 42 and finished act 4 and now I have to re-do the game all over again? How is this fucking fun. I think I'll just uninstall, not autistic enough to do this.

Major problem with the game IMO.
They hold on to the difficulty system for legacy reasons. It's obviously a repetitive sequence. But it doesn't take long if you're efficient.

Merciless act 4 is where the game really starts. And you have to get there to feel it.

Would you play a game where the devs are practically openly just trying to make the experience great for one player? Lets say nl_kripp.

So devs make the game, nl_kripp enjoys the game, he reaches end game content and sees an issue with the game. Gamedevs hear this and fix it because kripp says so. Maybe even take inspiration from his suggestion. Kripp feels the game is lacking something. Devs add something.

Devs try and think up things to make Kripp enjoy the game more. They do advanced data mining of kripps streams to figure out just what type of situations kripp enjoys and they effectively replicate those situations and let the game evolve this way on a monthly basis.

Is that fine?

Now lets say the level cap and content is continually increasing as kripp feels the need for more content. The progression in the game is defined by kripps past experiences.

Anyone can play the kripp experience well. There may be multiple viable builds but the experience is tailored to kripps high survivability discharger. A discharger would have those almost rip moments. A less survivable melee build might die and so on.
