The setting is a standard japanese highschool. In your field studies you tend to run into a rising terrorist organization that eventually pulls off a coup in the last chapter.

That is just a meme people like to spout. The reason handhelds are seemingly growing less popular is because the hardware isn't advancing at all. Even if you released a new Vita or 3DS it wouldn't be much better. Without the guarantee of a shit load of sales Sony and Nintendo would just be shooting themselves in the foot. Sony already knows this and that's why they started producing the slim Vita which has a lower production cost. LCD's are way cheaper than OLED's and anyone who wanted the original already has it. The 3DS XL only came out last year and offers what, better webcam tracking? Wow.. such an improvement! The market isn't dead though as there are still plenty of games being developed for them. Just because sales for the consoles themselves are dwindling doesn't mean the platforms are dead.
