The entirety of this general has been filled with complaining and banter back and forth from the player base about a patch that hasn't even come out yet. I just wanted to say, don't let it discourage you. I think the atlas and the huge amount of work GGG have done for this patch looks incredible and I cant wait to play it. The vast majority of players likely won't make it to maps. In the past, when data on where players stopped playing was released, very few even made it past act 3 of normal.

That said, there's no way GGG won't throw in something allowing you do respec your atlas shit. Might come with a cost, but I doubt it would be more than a stack of regret orbs.

We play video games in an era of secrecy and plausible deniability that designers hide behind when problems arise. Every year there's at least one major release or expansion for a large game that is riddled with bugs or has other massive issues. Developers rarely comment on the issues and when they do they dodge the real questions (See No Mans Sky).
On the other hand some members of the community found a potential problem with a future update that will not even affect you unless you chain high tier maps and hard farm to push the ladder. We get a development manifesto from the lead developer a few days later explaining that the developers are aware of the issue, they agree it could be problematic, and have decided on a course of action to correct it. Holy shit. If this were any other game we'd hear nothing from an official channel/forum, the problematic feature would exist on release, and we'd be lucky to get an "I'll look into it" on twitter from a single dev.
Thanks Chris, Bex, and all of the members of GGG for the consistent communication with us. It really makes a massive difference to me when I trust that the devs will listen to the community when there's real issues.

It's good, but I don't have tooltip numbers. The Warchief Totem in 2.3 was a bonus that EQ frankly didn't even need. You can quickly clear anything up to and including T15s with minimal investment. Most of the fight time vs. Uber Izaro is just waiting for animations to finish or for effects to active on Izaro for keys.

The only time I felt that my damage was low was vs. twinned Kaoms with extra life, since they'd kill the totem instantly.

I hope that was posted prior to information about how map drops work, since it's wrong. Firstly, Waterways and Gorge are the same tier.

You run all tier 1-7 maps for the bonus quantity, then fill tier 8-16 with only 1-2 maps each. Sometimes the best map for a tier will require a shaper, in which case you'll need to run a shitty map of that tier, get the shaper, use the shaper, and then unclear the shitty map using that new item.

It does essentially eliminate shitty maps from the game though. Hide disgusting adjacent maps in your loot filter.

You're artificially capped by your monitor's refresh rate due to human eye tracking and display persistence. There will always be many, many, MANY games that can't run anywhere near the required framerate to make the blur go away as well the power and cooling requirements make it far less desireable.

You run maps the same way, but there is now basically a list of maps that you're eligible for attached to your account for the league. When a map drops, the tier is rolled. If you are eligible for one or more maps of that tier, then a random one of those maps is chosen. If you aren't eligible for any maps of that tier, then no map will drop.

You are always eligible for drops of tier 1 maps and adjacent maps on the atlas. The boss can still drop +2 maps, but only if you have unlocked one.
