Actually I just got an idea.

The Gestapo game could be fun. Each mission you're given a "mark", and you show up at their door. You have to either FIND evidence or plant evidence. It would be a "search the room" sort of puzzle game. The houses and things you need to prove grow more and more ridiculous as your change locals.

Look for everything you think you will need and add " polygon flow " or " polyloops " on google. It will give you some idea on what to do and what not do do. As for unwrapping/texturing. The most important thing is - the smaller the checkerboard, the more detail you can cram in that area, Make sure most of the checkerboard areas are the same or pretty equal size - depends on how much detail you want in there. Always make sure you have the same size and pixel ration everywhere, unless it's an area that will not have any detail. Unwrapping depends on the tools you're using.

Never expect automated unwrap to work as intended, unless you work for a company that took to time to develop a tool or a plugin that will do the work properly.

As for the textures, polypaint is your friend - zbrush/mudbox/blender and others.
Handpainted textures maid in photoshop are good for lowpoly organic models, ok, not good, buy they pass. As for hardsurface, if you have knowledge in photoshop or gimp and know how to work with " dirt maps " you won't need polypaint as long as your textures are believable.
But don't forget, make sure you model in quads, so you can divide/subdivide you model if needed and check all the sources you can. The may seem a bit advanced but will give you basic understanding how things are supposed to work and will make you more familiar with navigation and the overall environment of the software.

t should be between 0 and 1 where 0 is at the start and 1 is at the end. So you want to animate t from 0 to 1, keeping track of the start rotation.

Compute shaders are pretty crazy.
I can simulate a 4096x4096 grid of cellular automatons at about 600 fps.
On CPU I could barely manage a 512x512 grid at 60.

It depends on what kind of game, what the character is like and who the audience is. The catsuit and helmet makes me think it's related in motorcycles in some way?
A is good if there's any professional racing or motorcycle involved
B is a slightly sexier A but aesthetically I don't think the cleavage looks good beause of the helmet
C and D work well too if you want to go sexier, D keeps the professional look while C looks more casual.
E shows a lot more skin, not a bad design but will definitely make your game caters more to waifufags which might be a good or bad thing depending on what kind of game you're going for.
I don't like F, G and H. Shorts go better without helmets and with short-sleeved shirts.
I is good but at this point it's pretty far from the first designs. If it's supposed to be related to motorcycles then I can't see it anymore.

Took this nice projectile mesh and texture from Warsow, which recently had most of its assets made CC by SA. Intentionally slowed down for viewing.

Her design is based off of an ethernet cable (CAT-5) that you plug into your PC to get internet, and I added a catgirl flavor to it. The game takes place in the distant future on other planets, so it's heavy on the sci-fi but very cartoony. Finally added some form of reward for clearing rooms. There's a chance you'll get a Reward spawn after you finish off the last enemy in a room. The reward can be money, health, or a Soul Fragment, which sort of functions as a Piece of Heart in Zelda. Collect enough of them and your Max HP goes up.

Alright, I'll give it some more thought. I wanted to give her power armor in the beginning but I couldn't figure out a way without making it look too bulky so I settled for catsuits. The plugsuit idea is good though, I'll see if I can get it to look good without ripping off EVA or D.Va too much.

Player collision exist now, I sorta fixed my micro stutter issue simply turning off vsync. Not really a good solution but it'll do for now?

I can usually have 2.5k+ bullets on screen before fps drops under 60 but fraps apparently just shits on my fps.

Right now, are you just having 'encounter mines' littered around the area invisibly, and running over the mine creates an arena?

If so, that's a neat idea and I'll make a note about it. If I am interpretting what's happening correctly, you could have these mines persist within eachother's arena spawns and extend the playing field as you encounter more mines.

So if there's mine, you're locked into the arena, and while dodging walk onto another mine, another arena is generated on top of the existing one in an additive way, you could create a sort of quantum maze. Like ever expanding Venn diagrams you navigate from start to exist.

All you'd need to do is ensure that every arena has a tile that is also a mine. You could create some really interesting levels doing this. I'm experiencing a mild erection thinking about it.

There's no way to know how much money the game actually has made in profit since we have no idea what the expenses are.
The sales are most likely a lot lower than Sony expected due to the huge backlash the game got. All the DLCs they're planning will also have a much smaller consumer base to sell to.
Plus, even if the game did make a profit- say 10 millions (I highly doubt it's that high but it's irrelevant). All the money and time spent on it could've been spent on a project that would've been much more succesfull; or they could've just spent a bit more money on NMS and exponentially increase NMS's profits instead of what they have now.
Lastly, NMS's will forever be remembered by what it wasn't rather than what it is, which makes it impossible to turn into franchise, and both the devs and Sean Murray have now a terrible reputation.

Not quite. Both webms just had the shown arena spawn after 5s on top of the player. Right now I have 3 simple encounters which are spawned after another with a 5s delay right on top of the player. Basically "boss encounters" as waves.

So basically something like this:
The player starts on a small platform/in a small room and by moving to the edges he might trigger a trap, which extends the platform/room by creating such an arena. The arena contains new traps and can be triggered during or after the encounter. By completing these the player progresses slowly towards the exit.
I could also see the levelgen generating a maze made out of these arenas, so it's not too linear. Might work.

My original idea was a stage based game similar to let's say Binding of Isaac, but with stages having random properties similar to how maps in path of exile work. Progressing through each stage by a maze of traps might be interesting if encounters are also affected by these "stage mods".

Sounds like a lot of work.

Gave it a do-over. Working on this animation is fun and all but the aesthetic completely clashes with the rest of the game's graphics. Still, some kind of vertical art assets is necessary for the game's aspect ratio to be 16:9 and monitor/YouTube-friendly - if I make the base game 384*216, the vertical space for level objects and player reaction time is too limited. I'm debating on overhauling the rest of the game aesthetically, or thinking up a new one that would be more compatible with this.

Depends on how good you want your low poly stuff to look.
If you're ok with using the matte-flat-colour/flat shading meme textures that everyone puts on low poly stuff now, then no you don't have to be able to draw beyond maybe a very rough reference for your character.
If you want it to look good or have any sort of detail, you need to be very good at shading and drawing because you're going to be hand painting all of the shadows and details, unless you're prepared to make a higher poly version of your character and bake the details and shadows from it onto your low poly version.

Look at this very simple texture and think about how much time and skill it took the artist to draw all that detail and shadowing.

The more you draw something, the more it gets burned into your memory, allowing you to draw it freehand without relying on reference. How'd you do it? Let me guess.

Enemy calculates closest path from its current position to player. Then it finds the nearest portal, gets a reference to the location of the portal's exit point, and finds the distance from that point to the player. Compare which path is shortest and take that route.

I would imagine that's how I'd do it.

Run animation is awful, open the helmet more so you can see the face better

change the shoes into 2-3 inch heels, something that's sexy but still "practical", kneepads probably aren't necessary, consider flaring the upper thigh plate at the top a little more

For the run animation, instead of the hands going up, have them go down to the sides near her hips with open palms facing the direction she runs
