What's with !Attacker dota meme? Dota was literally made by a bunch of guys in their parent's house for free in their spare time.
The fact people want to make up heroes in their parent's house for free in their spare time shouldn't really be that surprising.

Plus, I've read a couple decent ideas for a hero before that I wouldn't mind in the game. If there is one thing Dota lacks, it's variety in disables.
There's only one hero that can interrupt lifesteal or health regeneration/healing. Technically Omniknight could make an enemy spell immune so his team couldn't heal him but that's super niche .
Only one hero has a mute.
Only a couple heroes have blinds.
Only one hero in the game has a shield.

Dota has lots of stuns, lots and lots of stuns, plenty of nukes, tons of DoT. But in regards to terrain changing or more niche forms of disables there's not many.

Rush Crimson Guard if they have a bunch of right clickers, Pipe if they have a lot of magic damage, or GGreaves if they have a mixture of both or you're doing a lot of early pushing.
Pitlord needs armor and damage block and he becomes super hard to right click down. But his agility and thus armor growth is terrible, and his base armor is only ok. His passive doesn't do shit if he gets focused and he doesn't have armor AND damage block. For a strength hero he's not that tanky since his base strength is average and his strength growth well below average for a standard strength hero.

As soon as the enemy team starts getting any +damage items your passive just won't cut it by itself anymore.

How do I play AM in pubs? He's one of my favorite heroes, but I can only play him in stacks with friends, because I can trust them to hold off in their lanes long enough for the enemy to not bed level 25 by the 30 minute mark.

Most games I've solo'd AM, it doesn't matter how well I do in lane, because by the 15 minute mark the score is like 20-2 and the enemy are fivemanning our tier 3s. Help a 2k retard out, pls

Hero with a mute

Hero that actually interacts with the river water and can create water. Could even create water at a cliff to create a waterfall he can go down to escape or chase.

Mainly just more females though. Dota's cast is overwhelmingly male, which isn't really an issue in and of itself but I get tired of seeing the same 5 females every game. And they're either cute and dorky or snide and domineering.

I want a confident but humble female character. Those are cool.

Firestorm is actually a really respectable burst.
The problem is it's a burst and not a nuke. His root is real good and its 2.5 second duration is actually fine, but he has a half second backswing on his shit and another half second cast animation + fall time, so you end up getting maybe 2 waves before the enemy just walks out of it. And the cast range on Firestorm is real small too, so it's somewhat easy to juke unless he roots you first.
Which is also semi easy to juke due to the cast delay and formation delay.

Reduce his cast time or spell formation and he'd be real good. He's already got a near 50% winrate. He's pretty straightforward to play and he brings a lot of utility and passive durability to your team. If he builds a lot of support auras he can sustain a push basically by himself, and Firestorm is very good for waveclearing during a siege.

I think he's actually a solid hero. But he's very level dependent and falls of hard without items.
He's a farming core support similar to Tidehunter. He NEEDS solo levels and definitely wants items.
Just don't build carry shit on him.
Crimson Guard or Abyssal and mana boots into GGreaves is core as fuck.

He's not really similar to Phoenix at all.
Phoenix is someone who pulls aggro and forces the enemy team to all in or back off, while Pitlord is a disruptor and disabler that zones within a fight and pins people out of position.
He's much more similar to Disruptor than Phoenix, in that respect.

Granted, the enemy team will likely try to burst Underlord down to get rid of his passive and the auras he's stacking, but Underlord is durable and has tools to disengage with. Phoenix isn't particularly durable, he's got his ult of course, but he doesn't want to use that if he gets jumped, unlike Pitlord who would love to use his abilities on the enemy team jumping on his face.

Abuse your ult to splitpush deep with a free escape. Once you're naga/alch mode you're rolling at a constant +200. The octarine is great for all three actives.

Not to say he's inherently bad against them, but they're not bothered near as much by his passive as the other heroes are. The bkb piercing root and firestorm are still pretty lethal to most of these heroes, or at a minimum very disruptive.
If you drop Firestorm on yourself melee heroes either have to run away or take a lot of magical damage. If they try to run you can root them.

He's very viable as a support core. I don't think he's a particularly great carry, and he's an awful solo support, so never run him like that.
Think of him in the same way you would Tidehunter.
