Feeding the first few puts a dead bird reward in your home instance, that you can clean up. Later (5 days) the cat will show up. Subsequent cats/kittens will also walk into your home instance. There are 6 now.

I'm considering buying this game just to play PvP. Can you tell me if it's good - are there enough modes, various builds like in GW1 and is WvW too demanding PC-wise? I don't care much about PVE.

PvP has Conquest and Stronghold. Conquest is the most "competitive" mode where Stronghold has PvE elements mixed in with it (and isn't very good desu). Those are the only game modes, but conquest maps have different mechanics on each to add a bit of flavour.
There are not many builds compared to GW1 in structured PvP. Each class has one or two "meta" builds. There's very little wiggle room for gimmicks.
WvW is demanding if you run with huge blobs of people.

No build diversity whatsoever in PvP. Up to two meta builds for the lucky professions. In most of the recent metas, there are professions that have no real meta builds at all.

Anet takes a lazyy approach to balancing. There is almost no pvP/PvE skill split. They focus on "balancing" by adding and removing stat options, while having a cycle buffing and nerfing the best builds. Utilities and traits that underperform barely ever get touched, which means that there is never any reason to experiment. You have 1-2 specific builds that will either be meta, or your profession will not be viable in the season.

It depends, but at the moment I'll agree. I have just under 2000 games played (most of which were pre-expansion) and quite enjoyed my time with it for the most part. Sadly the expansion changed a lot of shit and made PvP pretty bland and way spammier.
The game's F2P so you can try out the PvP at least but you'll be stuck on the base professions which are nowhere near as good as their elite spec counterparts.
