Sega has been more than helpful with Traveller’s Tales’ effort in bring the Sonic franchise to life in LEGO Dimensions. From sketch notes to subtle suggestions, even boss battles, it’s practically a Sonic game of its own. Also, there will be approximately 7 stages in Sonic’s Adventure World (an expansive hub world. Think Unleashed but bigger, not as big as 06, though).

The Battle Arena (a 4-player competitive area) will also be based off of “Carnival Zone” which could be Carnival Night, or some other zone that’s a “brightly colored, neon mashup.” The rings are either based off of the LEGO Toilet Seat or the LEGO Life Preserver, though that’s not been confirmed,

So, Eggman mentioned that a G.U.N battle carrier was heading toward his location, prompting him to send the Armada to intercept. We are going to see that carrier next issue, right? Seems kind of pointless to mention it otherwise.

In all honesty, I wish they'd bring back the character diversity that was seen in the Advance Trilogy, especially 3's. Being able to go through levels experimenting with different characters' abilities really opened up the games for me.

3K and Chaotix had it, but the first was really just two mutually exclusive paths -- one for Sonic and Tails, the other for Knuckles -- and the second's was ruined by crappy physics, shit level design, and the "elastic ring" mechanic.

You know what'd be kinda cool? So, in this latest Universe arc, it's explain that G.U.N is actually handling all the disaster relief and protecting citizens from various dangerous during the Shattered World Crisis.

So what I was thinking is that it'd be neat if they did that in the games. The stages would have G.U.N soldiers patrolling around doing stuff. It'd be a nice background detail at least.

I like Mania and all, and I wouldn't mind a trilogy or so of genesis-style gameplay being expanded upon after 20 years, but we shouldn't accept stagnation.
It's all fine to want to expand on established concepts, but there's a point where it's either too frequent, uninterrupted, or generally uninspired that a format becomes stale. NSMB is a fantastic example of this, as the latter games were panned for being rehashes. In terms of Sonic, this has happened on a microscopic level to green hill zone, people are absolutely sick of seeing the level in everything.
Franchises that run this long need a way to avoid stagnation. Mario does this with tons of spinoffs and infrequent main releases. Sonic has done this by experimenting, a lot, and most people would say it got excessive.

Okay so the problem is that I was talking handheld consoles, not mobile. I can see the confusion there
Sega has phone stuff handled perfectly.
Also when I say adventure gameplay I refer strictly to Sonic's gameplay in that. That is a style of Sonic's controls and mechanics that some people appreciate more than boost and some even prefer it to classic. Most people agree Sonic is the best part of adventure, a small game on the 3DS with just SA2 style Sonic levels would be small enough, I think.

I never felt the problem with the games was Sonic's pals. Fuck that was the last thing that needs to be focused on. The bad games just, well, they weren't very good games. Unleash got half way there but stumbled with the werehog, 06 was just busted to hell, I thought Lost World was okay and had some decent ideas but the bosses where just lame and it didn't really feel like a sonic game. nothing really bad to say about colors. Wisps were neat. That should not have been a Wii exclusive.
