I never played May in XX but how she is right now she has no real pressure except for when she has a considerable distance to her opponent.

Her only real asset is her ability to spit out insane amounts of damage from her neutrals for no reason.

Honestly I want to see her Neutrals nerfed and her specials buffed a bit in damage.

Also her volleyball needs to be able to damage the second it pops into screen, not several frames afterwards because it's just stupid when I can't even setplay with it because the enemy can just dash and hit me out of the animation even though it's already out.

Honestly the only real thing I've noticed that needs any changes is Johnny and Bedman.

bedman is already a strong contender for top 5 in the game. he needs absolutely nothing. you can play around his stuff just fine, his neutral is super good, nothing is blatantly oppressive.

johnny is in a fine spot. his biggest bullshit factor is zwei yrc extends pressure, coins extend pressure, and his normals are long so he can pressure from fairly far/awkward ranges where most chars have trouble contesting. and that's pretty fine, because he has nothing outside of those ranges or when he doesn't have you under pressure. his unblocks are also easier to get out of, yield less reward, and are trickier to set up. the only reason he shits out damage is because of risc build up and his frame traps.

what you listed with may are not problems whatsoever. strong buttons and the ability to convert off of random hits is far more valuable than slightly more damage from setplay conversions. if you knew even the day 1 may setups, you wouldn't be complaining about beach ball.

Well maybe that's because I haven't actually seen a good Bedman, I was just assuming he was bad since no one plays him and the few people I've experienced play him seem to be average at best.

I haven't played Revelator yet so my assumptions on Johnny are only from what I've seen on Streams So you can be right and I just don't know it because I haven't had to actually deal with him yet.

Considering that her two most valuable moves are both charges, her only overhead being a charge that needs to fully charge to even act like an overhead and the fact that she has very short combos and range on all her moves I find her value to "randomly hit someone" (with highly choreographed and delayed moves mind you) and do massive amounts of damage to be very situational at best and as such she herself is a niche pick.

Please tell me what they are and/or show me because I've been playing May for months now and watching streams and the only time I can safely use volleyball is literally across the screen after I knock the enemy down and by the time I finish with her animation I better have an attack ready because otherwise i'm about to eat a shit ton of damage.

There is a very good reason why May has not been in the top 16 in any single GGXrd tournament to date. Is she game breakingly underpowered and useless? Absolutely not, but she needs to have some rebalance to her kit because as it is right now the only way a May can actually win against a high profile player is if that said player fucks up big time over and over again.

This is the point of st.lk. Lariat canceled from st.lk moves him forward (kind of like a pseudo kara) and will hit in situations where something like a cancelled cr.lp wouldn't.

The first one wouldn't a lot to help him.

i told you the reason for no placings. there are no serious may players outside of ruu because only memelords and pedos play may, and neither of those people give a shit about doing well at tournaments, let alone travelling to them.

the point of beach ball is for oki and to help maneuver your way in when you're getting zoned at full screen. you don't use it against millia or sol who can just run at you and press a fast button.

standing overhead is irrelevant because that's not what you do for mixups or setplay. it's just a small benefit of charging it up fully; the real reward is the insane blockstun and the fact that you can charge the whole time. you're not millia, and you shouldn't try to be.

may is focused around counter hits and having some oppressive air-to-ground normals in neutral, and her setups are really hard to block and unmashable because, well, she can stun easily off of most counterhits. so, yes, poking is hard, but i also think you underestimate how useful dolphins are in general. you can literally spam it in some matchups, like faust.

She has pretty good oki overall riding the dolphin. 5D is actually not bad at leat online since the range is deceptively high and you get a guranteed setup after the air dust combo. She can definitely mix you up, she is overall a solid character with good buttons and damage and oki, just doesn't overwhelmingly excel in anything enough to be "high tier"
