Also, security has to deal with fucking xenos and wizards, sometimes right off the bat. Security shouldn't default to shooting people - and that's whether or not they have lethal rounds or nonlethal - but the average officer needs at least basic access to something that isn't worthless against a real threat.

Christ carrying tools in a plastic bag around is so much fucking better than carrying around a useless ass sec belt that can carry maybe 2-3 actually worthy things. And with a plastic bag you can out a whole load of shit into the survival box, including pretty much everything you would have put on your belt in the first place.

Another tip for sec officers aspiring to be robust

Put your flash in your pocket

Having it in an easy to reach place is SO worth it when that moment comes where a rogue borg decides to fuck your shit up. So many times I myself had a bad run in with a borg, where I could only dodge the tasers of a secborg or avoid any other for so long, scrambling to get a flash out. It doesn't matter how well you can sax a secborg, if you can't get your flash out in time in a high stress situation, you're pretty much done for.

Toolboxes are a personal favorite, I've killed a few aliens and traitors when stuns just weren't an option. Floortiles are obviously better, but you don't always have tiles or a crowbar available.

Also if there is a wizard or xeno you need to make every attempt to get into the armory. Get some tools and hack your way in or bust down a wall. If the wizard has already taken all the guns, you need to play conservatively and down them with your taser and try to get hits in with a toolbox, while trying to get your hands on a better weapon. Or just use floortiles. Water in your pepper spray can also potentially be useful here in a defensive scenario.
