Maybe they turned green after being exposed to the chaos emeralds so many times. I remember in the comics Sonic had some device that caused him to run around the planet a few times with the help of rings or chaos emeralds, I think he was upset at uncle Chuck at the time or something after he found out his parents were still alive, not sure. Maybe it was a different issue.

Either way, something affected his appearance when he went through whatever warp/timeshift and it caused his spines to grow out and his eyes to turn green. I really think it was because of chaos emerald energy irradiating him or something. It made sense. He went through all his super forms in the process too, so it had to have altered his DNA or physical properties.

Hold up, it's actually canon. In Sonic Generations, Adventure Sonic taught Classic Sonic how to air-dash, so that means Classic Sonic would have eventually gone through changes in both his abilities and appearance. It's clearly more than just an 'art style change', otherwise the would have only used the same version of Sonic and just retconned the appearance.

That's what Bungie did with Halo 4 when they redesigned Masterchief's armor. They just pretended it always looked that way/retconned it. Sega acknowledge that both Sonics existed at some point in time, but eventually changed from Classic to Adventure's style. But something caused those changes, they didn't just happen out of thin air.

I don't even know how else to say it. Because she Canonically doesn't get sonic. Her whole character was introduced to have a one sided crush on sonic. The core of her character is unrequited love. Granted maybe you could get a hug or something out of them, but I wouldn't expect anything too romantic like a kiss. Nah, those sloppy controls were better than anything Adventure ever attempted. And for once Sonic finally felt fast. It's damn near a perfect Sonic game in this modern era. All Generations needed was a playable Tails and Knuckles where player 2 could hop in and follow you around and it would have been perfect.
