Camilla is pure fan service pandering, and the game treats her as such. That doesn't stop people from discussing her hidden depths with a zeal, however it often falls flat since there seems to be an unusual amount of headcanons about her.

Here's my take on Camilla: she's got no potential because she wasn't meant to be more than eye candy and fan service. Her role in the main story is tiny, her supports are pretty bad, she's the worst offender of the player worshipping disease that plagues this game, and the characters don't act normally around her. Her entire character is an insult to basic human interaction in fiction; people wouldn't be okay with someone like Camilla around, and the Nohrian family, especially Corrin, wouldn't put up with her trying to bone them all the time. She's a suffocating, mentally unstable person who's projecting her own problems onto others or downright threatens or coerces others to get what she wants, yet she's treated as a good person and character both by the game and the fans, and I can't understand that.

You know you have problems writing a character when every conversation she's in seems forced an unnatural, and that the people talking to her are reacting in ways no sane person would. Throughout her supports, all of the things she does or says accumulates, and in my opinion the bad things far outweigh the postives; even if she does or says something that on its own wouldn't be too offensive, the fact remains that if you combine all of the shitty behavior in her supports, she comes across as a very horrid person. She forces Suzukaze to join her little tea parties against his will, she threatens Severa, constantly makes Corrin uncomfortable and infantilizes Takumi. I'm sure she does more, but those are the things that stick out.

Shelter is not even critical unless the space is tight, you can always end the flying unit's turn next to the other unit and wait for them to pair up the following turn before moving the flying unit. It's not like older games where you could move after rescuing.

The only other reason to depend on shelter so much is if you want to get some extra dances from Azura, but that wastes two units and requires precise positioning.

Elise and Kaze are both more useful thanks to their utility and most units are more useful than him in battle.

Literally every other flying unit (aside from Selena probably) can fight better than Gunther while also keeping the same utility because Shelter is unnecessary most of the time (as you can simply make the carried unit pair up with he flier the next turn without wasting any time). So I would take any other flying unit over him, unless you really like his personal skill.

That means Beruka or any Dark Flier (provided they have decent growths as one).
Maybe you can even capture a good flying unit, but I don't know about every catch able unit.

Gunther belongs to the B tier, not even top B, below Leo.

That's completely different, because Azura provides a unique utility in the form of dancing.

Shelter doesn't bring anything new, as you can simply make the unit you want to ferry to pair up with the flier the next turn, and you won't be wasting any extra moves like that either (Sheltering ends the flier's turn, so it's not like you're saving time using it).

The only time Shelter is useful is if you want to have Azura dance on the flier, which is really situational because Azura has to be ferried next to the flier too, wasting another unit's move.

This has been proven to not be the case multiple times. Silas is leagues better than Effie in 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13. Effie's lategame is a little better once Silas starts having trouble doubling but that's not for a long time.

Not touching the Mozu argument in regards to cost-effectiveness. I refuse to touch any Mozu argument with a 10 foot pole.

Problem wth Keaton ia his starting chapter. Right after you get him he has to skip the next and by the time you finally get to use him again he's stuck at level 16-17 and has to compete for a tanky spot versus Xander of all things. He can be instantly promoted into Wolfmassinger and become powerful very quickly, like with Benny. Unlike Benny he doesn't benefits much from that in the long run.

Peri does get pretty damn strong, I feel her lack of bulk is well patched by Great Knight, at least until she caps speed.
