The game is much easier now. Leveling from 1-65 takes no time at all. BAMs are soloable. New classes include brawler (a tank that dpses hard), gunner (ranged dps), and ninja (new op flavor of the month). Class balance is fucked but they're trying to fix it.
Definitely give it a shot. Game's pretty as fuck and the combat's fun at least. If you've got a decent rig, you should get alright fps in dungeons.

Priest is a good choice for starting out. Mystic got buffed a LOT in this patch and it's pretty damn good at the moment, so just a heads up there. Don't forget to grab a buddy up before you start leveling! Gives xp boosts and neat goodies. All we need to know is your server for that.

Zerk is practically made to die in the current environment. Low HP, barely anything's blockable anymore, gotta iframe everything, whoops you only have one iframe sorry. Hope you like using fucking leaping strike to jump out of aoes and shit. you know, a lot of people would argue slayer, archer, and even warrior are easier classes to play as a whole.
Slayer has god mobility, great positioning ability, great iframes, and the only true downsides are animation locks which can be managed, mana, which can be managed, and desync, which is the actual real shit end of the stick problem, but even with all those problems, slayer are still a very, very good class.
Archer is ranged DPS with an absurd crit rate, two decent iframes, and an endurance debuff to boot.
Likewise with warriors, though the rotation is like playing a piano, their mobility is great, and staying alive AND on the boss as a warrior couldn't be easier, you have up to 4 iframe rolls, an in-place iframe which lasts for years and doesn't move you, and a short but useable backstab, which also functions as a great positioning tool. Not to mention that as a DPS, their highest damaging skill has a 100% crit rate and is completely consistent provided they position correctly, and their second most damaging skill which makes up the other chunk of their DPS is also very high crit rate. Oh, and the endurance debuff and ability to enrage if needed is kind of great.
Reaper requires a very large amount of positioning control and has very low mobility to help with it, you literally have three mobility skills, two of which are dodges and one is required to be used in your priority rotations for DPS.
People like to shit on reapers for being a new class, but most of those people don't realize how hard it is to actually play well, reaper is not "brain dead" unless you play it like one, and if you do, you're doing shitty DPS.

So I downloaded the Bikini mods from this thread:

Do I need to redownload the whole game in order to fix this (since I OF COURSE forgot to make back-up files, because that would be the smart thing to do), or is it possible to get just the original Tera/Client/S1Game/CookedPC/Art_Data/Packages/CH/PC folder somehow? Also, if I redownload the game, will that erase my characters?

delete said files, go to your launcher, click tools located on the bottom. Then click the repair button.
When applying mods make a folder named _CH where the CH file is and put your mods in the new folder. It will read those files first and skip the files with the same name in the CH folder. It's useful if the mod somehow breaks, then it's easy to fix manually.

I dont keep up with wow but other mmo friends certainly do. and apparently this one isnt 'bad' like the previous ones, so hardcore players are going back to it in droves. this, as well as the 'new' mmos on the block (bdo, bns) take some players with them. the problem is that tera is so shit that it never gets players to make up for the loss from other mmos. nothing fills the void that they create. and every new mmo, every new expansion, is just going to drain even more players away.
literally the only reason why tera isnt totally dead, is because of mismanagement by other companies. and even then, unless they pull a fucking rabbit out of their hat, and make tera not shit optimized, put in fun dungeons/raids that can be hardcore, balance new classes more...its gonna be even deader in a year, max. this gen is already on complete life support.

Mystic buff with crit aura is probly better than priest's power+ats. And mystic is just stand-there-and-buff-party while priest has to actively keep up buffs every 25 sec or so.
Healingwise even mystic is adequate since hardmode dungeons were nerfed for cloth-armor ninjas and healing buffed. Demokron factory also favours mystic over priest bc you can iframe forward instead of backjump.
I mass PvP mystic is more fun to play since it can actively harass others with curses/sleep/slow/confusion whereas priest can mostly only heal. Mystic has almost same survivability now as priest due telejaunt cd buff. Although party with no priest has serious disadvantage.

There are few 65s camping in Crescentia or killing lowbies in basilisk forest.
You find some people running on red on same areas who try to kill you. They are usually shitters who think they could do well in OP class, but you kill them easily.
Worse are those who start new char with their favourite class for player killing and appear in random areas while you level.
People at level 65 areas are usually polite since running red means everyone tries to kill you too. Once I've been killed while gathering by someone who could do that with +15 in one backstab.
Also, there are high levels of public guild drama on PvP servers.
