I'd taken quite the break from 3DS hacking, I'd just downgraded to 9.2 when that was first around and then stopped the process for a time to work on real life things.

Picking up the guide from the end of Step II and the beginning to Step III: I'm told to use Emunand from the homebrew menu to backup my sysnand to a safe location. It would appear that my older version of menuhax doesn't come with Emunand.

Should I just use the Emunand .zip and everything else from Step III, back up my Sysnand from there, and continue with the process as normal?

So I have my N3dsxl with REInand as the cfw, and I decided to pick up a second microSD card to use for RPG games.Ive copied everything over just fine to the new card but I realized that I dont think I unlinked my nintendo ID from my sysnand ever. I know its not really going to affect much, but if I follow the directions to unlink my ID from SYSNAND, wiping out my installed games on the new card, will my ID still be linked on my original card?

As an aside, I think the installation guides should have images of what the files in the folders should look like to make comparisons easier. I almost thought I had bricked my 3DS because one of my files was misnamed.

I'm curious, what does the guide mean by "Reboot into SysNAND and get into the Homebrew Launcher through the entrypoint of your choice (menuhax will always launch the Homebrew Launcher from SysNAND)"?

I'm at the standard home screen after following all of the prior steps, my System Settings shows me as 9.2.0-20U, etc.

Do I just return to the homebrew launcher now?

You don't just play isos from your card, you actually install the game as if you bought it from the eshop, and there are apps on the 3ds that basically make anything in the eshop free and you just choose what you want to download and let it go

Nobody is going to tell you to go and buy a Sky3DS, it's honestly probably one of your worse options. You'd be better off buying a pre-hacked 3DS, or paying someone to hack it for you if you're that retarded/scared.

The reality is is that Sky3DS is not futureproof as they've proven before, and you lose out a lot of things traditional CFW (Or even Gateway) offers. IIRC Sky3DS+ still can't even pirate DLC.

Also, Sky3DS+ can't even run out of region games, which is kind of a huge deal given that A) Not all games get dumped from all regions (Sometime it's only the EUR or NA versions for very long periods), and B) playing Jap-only (Or NA-only if you're European) games is a big reason most people even hack to begin with.

Sky3DS Used to have a niche before downgrading became so widespread, but even then it was often better to just buy a hackable 3DS. It'll save you money (And time/effort in the longrun) to hack your current system if possible.

I have a regular old 3ds, and I do not have a SDHC card reader, and I would like to run Browserhax. Is there any way in hell to do so without buying a SD card reader, since I am broke as fuck?

If it's a New 3DS (I'm really guessing not), there is a built in ftp transfer. You need to get boot.3dsx on your root to progress. From there, you could technically do everything wirelessly. It would be a pain in the goddamn ass any time you needed a back up. Guessing your SD card is only 4 gb also.

The starter.bin is just an archive of homebrew like smegma's starter.zip but shittier.

If you select yes it loads it into memory and extracts it to you SD card after it's formatted so you have homebrew again without having to do anything.

I personally wouldn't use it.

ok so you have the files yes? now you need to reverse engineer them so you can create a source code from them. Then you need to create an environment for them to run in. Assuming you want to run it on a 3ds you need to install neccesary run times, converting them from x86 to ARM. Then compile the game, changing it (from source) to run properly in an ARM windows run-time.

Remember the handhelds, especially the 3ds have almost no cpu or ram, so youll need to heavily optimise it along the way.
