Here's how it goes. If you can read simple English, you have a 99% chance of not bricking. 99% of the bricks are from retards not following instructions. GBATemp has a lolzy thread where you'll see people admitting to flashing O3DS firmware to their N3DS, or closing the lid during a downgrade to 2.1.0, etc.

There's maybe ONE point where you'll get RNG bricked, but even then there's a way to mitigate that chance into near non-existence.

Pro tip: Once you get to the point of having both sysNAND and redNAND (it's like having two boot partitions on a computer), leave the sysNAND background as it is, and change the background of redNAND to a red color (geddit?) so you can quickly tell which is which.

If you do that then the guide is otherwise retard-proof.

This is the thing that has me on the edge about the whole situation. I've read the guide and as soon as I reached the end of part 4 I went from "seems simple enough" to "better sacrifice some virgins to my pagan gods to succeed".

>>
>>151543410
The Part 4 "cross your fingers" bit isn't that big of a deal, because you have backups out the ass. I'm not sure why that bit is there anymore. Really, if you've followed the guide and done things correctly, there's no reason to "cross your fingers".

I would be more concerned about the "random chance to soft brick, forcing you to recovery to 11.0" in Part 2 when downgrading to 9.2.0. Because that is truly RNG.
>>
>>151543697
I don't want to wait :(

Accidentally used a save data editor to back up a file of Alpha Sapphire to Pokemon X. Naturally, the file was corrupted so i backed it up with a PowerSave I still had. It worked until I turned the game off. When i turned it on, it was corrupted again.

So i decided to delete the save data on the cart entirely and restart the game, intending to inject an old save data back up with homebrew launcher and the secure value patcher. I started a new game, saved and turned off my 3ds to export the save data, but again, it was corrupted. This keeps happening.

What can I do to fix this? Is my Pokemon X cartridge done for or what?

>I would be more concerned about the "random chance to soft brick, forcing you to recovery to 11.0" in Part 2 when downgrading to 9.2.0.
Is there also a risk of soft bricking when upgrading from an older firmware to 9.2.0?
>>
>>151544223
You've edited the cart itself, not just the save. You need to download Pokemon X, back it up, and inject it into your cart to fix it.
>>
>>151542492
This shit again.
(You)
>>
>>151544471
The risk is with plaiSysUpdater, so if you use that, then you have that risk. Going down to 9.2 you don't have a backup, but going down to 2.1 you're downgrading your emulated NAND so who cares if you fuck it up.
>>
Where's the best place to buy flash carts?
>>
>>151544663
He's asking if there's a risk from going, say, 4.2.0 to 9.2.0 before doing part 1
>>
>>151544502
I don't understand what you mean, can you be more specific? You mean I need to download a version from the e-shop or a pirated copy and back it up with a Powersave? Or with the save data filer?
>>
>>151544471
don't think so the warning isn't on the 9.2 update part iirc, still risky regardless though
>>
>>151544793
You need a clean Pokemon X. Where it's from doesn't matter, just as long as it hasn't been messed with. You back it up and then inject it and that will get rid of the lingering AS data.
>>
>>151545008
Alright, I have a powersave back up from before I used it to modify anything. I'll let you know how it goes

>>151544471
There actually seems to be a risk of hardbricking and nobody truly knows why. It's not a really big risk but it has happened a couple of times. You can see them pop into IRC every so often. I used to blame people for using the wrong set of files (plain sysUpdater doesn't check) but I don't know anymore, too much of them swear they used the right files.

We had a few people posting here with the old upgrade guides too (the method is exactly the same still, not a damn thing has actually changed between the many shitty guides on gbatemp, the old pastebin guide and Plailect's 9.2 upgrade stuff).

The good news is that you can/should make a good NAND backup before you do the upgrade, so you can hardmod or get a hardmod done and restore it back to your old version.

Stupid question but once you get a9lh and all that jazz going on is there any chance of getting locked out of sysnand/brick status in case of sd failure?
i mean is there a way to revert back to how 3ds was before tampering with it?
>>

>>

They fucked something up.

Whether they know it or not, they either used bad/wrong files (which should be obvious, so they're ashamed), messed with the 3DS before it was done, or continued with the guide without a proper install.

I don't believe these "acts of God" bricks.
>>
>>151545839
All the important stuff is on your internal memory. You can just drag the files to a new SD card, assuming you backed them up.
>>
>>151545839
with a9lh you can still brick by fucking something up with the nand but you can just restore a backup on boot and yes you can completely remove a9lh if you want to revert to vanilla status to sell it or something
>>

I used the right files, update failed halfway through and absolutely refused to start the downgrade again for 7 hours. I got tired, updated to 11, then tried downgrading again and it worked but people without hardmod/another 3DS that's already CFW would be shit out of luck

I was like that for a while but the failure mode's making me really suspect of it. People that have update bricks end up with a hard black screen completely unresponsive to anything 100% of the time.

Ok guys, I have an O3DS with a9lh but it's pretty worn out, the L and R buttons are failing sometimes and the battery dies noticeably faster. I also am kind of aware of browserhax being patched soon and next update will kill the process of getting a9lh as it is now but even then someone will re enable it, right? I'm not so sure if I should get another 3ds asap or wait until my actual one becomes unplayable, can I even expect to be able to easily get a9lh by then?

Just got my Vita (OLED) in the mail. My first impression is that the screen on this thing is really pretty. My n3DS XL (IPS) looks disgustingly pixelated in comparison. If you haven't seen an OLED Vita before I'd recommend seeing if you can find one. Emulators are going to be fantastic on this thing.

Aside from that, it's also on firmware 3.15. So they guy I bought this from hasn't touched it in over two years. I think I'm going to try getting PSP ISOs loading on this because it's much more pleasant to use than my aging PSP 2000. I've only got a 4GB card though, which isn't going to hold dick. A local GameStop has 64GB cards. But they're labeled as refurbished (what the fuck) and cost $130. So I'm up shit creek here for a bit.

That's the plan. I'd just rather not wait. But since it's a $30 difference and the local ones are only refurbished, I'll have to deal with ordering online. Shame almost nothing around here sell Vita stuff anymore. I think Best Buy just cleared their shelves of it from the looks of things.
>>
>>151552856
My 1000 model Vita is and old used model I bought about a year after it's launch. It's had these weird spots in the screen since I got it, but they've never gotten worse. They are almost entirely invisible outside of dark yet slightly illuminated screens, I'll do my best to get a picture but it hasn't impacted gameplay at all. I'm more or less worried that it might lead to further damage to the screen.
>>
What exactly can I do with a vita running henkaku?

There's no important o3ds serial list because production of them has slowed to a crawl.

As fun as it is fucking with you, no, formatting your 3ds does not result in an auto-update to 11.0.

When you first select format the 3ds sends out a signal to Nintendo to check if it can be formatted. Nintendo sends a response in a few seconds, and then it starts being formatted.

After this point, it no longer needs to be connected to the internet for the format to complete - and of course, without an internet connection, it can't download the new firmware. When you first start it up, an internet connection is not mandatory, and so at no point is the firmware downloaded.

So no, formatting your 9.2 3ds will NOT end up updating to 11.0

Hoping to clarify some things about a modded wii;

Are there hacks that let you use a gamecube controller with Wii games? I've heard something similar is possible with DKCR but want to try Mario Galaxy without wagglan

Can you inject NES/SNES/N64 ROM's and have them work perfectly even if they weren't officially released on Virtual Console?

If not, does the third party SNES emulator play at full speed?

screeninit or noscreeninit for arm9loaderhax?
>>
>>151558178
Nah, 79's the lowest the 2ds is going to be for a while, at least until christmas.

The small N3DS is going to either be on 11.0 or 11.1. It's guaranteed to be 11.0 AT LEAST because Japan's latest Limited Edition model, the Famicom, was produced before these and they're all on 11.0, and though it's not common, Nintendo has released a new 3DS at the same time as new firmware, so it could be 11.1.

>better screens

No, all models (even limited editions) of both XL's and smalls of both New and old 3ds's have come with both TN and IPS screens. You just have to get lucky to get an IPS (unless you're playing exclusively rhythm games, in which case you actually DO want a TN).

The small is more ergonomical for people that get cramps while playing the XL, and the XL is more ergonomical for people who get cramps playing the small.

The only things objectively better about either:
Small
>Fits into pockets and purses easier
>Has face plates

XL
>Has 0.5 extra hours of battery life

Other than that, any preference is just subjective.

Most small N3DSs comes with the TN screens.

Screentism is the stupidest shit ever.
>muh ips with bleeding dark colors can be looked at from a 90 degree angle!
nobody plays the game like that, and the difference between TN and IPS straight on isn't that bad. TN is crisper, but IPS is a bit more bold

It really doesn't matter, given the XL upscales a 400x240 resolution and leaves choppy pixel lines everywhere. having a small (but cheaper) screen is objectively better

As far as I know all the animal crossing bundles were all TN, but most of the pokemon bundles were IPS.

OLED vs IPS is actually very visible. Play Dragon's Crown on one and then the other, and you'll notice the difference IMMEDIATELY.

TN vs. IPS is almost completely irrelevant for portable gaming, where you can move the device towards your head. The only difference that matters is the TN has a better refresh rate, which might matter for shit like Theatrythm or Elite Beat Agents.

I'm supposed to inject FBI in order to install tinyformat so I can format the redNAND twice

However whenever I inject FBI and load up into redNAND, I can't install any files.

I'm not getting errors while trying to install but FBI won't let me install any files at all.

I tried injecting the latest release of FBI but it wouldn't even boot so I rolled back to 2.3 and injected that instead. It booted up but I wasn't allowed to install files as mentioned earlier.

Someone a few threads back mentioned I should try bigbluemenu instead so I injected that but it wouldn't even boot and now I'm at a loss for what to do.

I didn't have these issues doing 4 other 3dses. FBI worked fine for all of them, so I'm not sure where I went wrong.

So just to put my want of a new small 3ds to rest, you can't region change after you hack it? You literally have to "donor console" which I'm assuming you'd need an American new 3ds small which would be the animal crossing one? To play online with Ameribros?? If I just pirate all the games would it even matter? Would I need to region change to play online with other Americans?

Ro get cps1, 2 and the neo geo cores to work, you need to get the games from emuparadises's mame section. Cps games don't need a bios but neo geo does. The bios also needs to be downloaded from the same place as the roms and needs to be in the same directory as the neo geo games.

Finally, you may get a black screen when loading the game, it's just loading and the length depends on the size of the game.

This goes for everyone that also has trouble with cps and neo geo cores.

For now, mame and vanilla fba don't work and crash on startup.

One's washed out but crisper, one's bolder but blurrier. One has a better refresh rate for faster games, one has the same image regardless of the angle.

One isn't better than the other, it's really down to personal preference. However, both objectively look like shit on an XL stretched and pixelated, and unless you've been bricking and hacking several 3DSes, you really won't know there's a difference.

I've had both and I really don't care. The only thing I don't want is an XL.

>>
>>151583241

System transfer won't transfer a pirated game.

It WILL transfer the save file, BUT if you buy Fieldrunners on the 3DS you've transferred to, it initializes all save files as it installed.

Technically, if you could somehow pirate Fieldrunners onto the new 3ds after you've transferred the save file via a system transfer, that would work fine.

But then what would be the point?
>>
I'm trying to install a9lh and got to the point where I have to go to http://dukesrg.github.io/2xrsa.html?arm11.bin

At that point, I got a glitched screen, so I turned my 3DS off and now it won't boot without having the SD inserted. When it is inserted, nothing happens. If I hold select to go into the luma config thing, I can get the options to show up, but after saving those preferences the screen goes black again. I figure I'll have to restore a backup and try again, but how do I do that when my 3DS basically won't turn on? Also, how far back into the Plailect guide should I go for restoring backups.

try deleting the config from your sd and try again, you can restore by holding start on boot
>>
>>151583554

I assume you've never done a system transfer.

What actually happens during a system transfer is the source 3ds contacts Nintendo, and validates that all software is associated with the NNID - then it transfers that software. Then, on the target system when it's done, the target system contacts Nintendo, and validates that all the software associated with the transferred system NNID is now on the target 3ds.

It doesn't just transfer directly from one to the other without contacting Nintendo.

It's also the safest way to have a system transfer performed, as otherwise there's a chance some games or data could be lost.

>>
>>151585193

How would you propose the homebrew work?

There's two checks that are performed with Nintendo - one on the source 3ds before the transfer, and one on the target 3ds after the transfer.

>Put the homebrew on the source 3ds obviously

What would this homebrew do? It can't overwrite Nintendo's server information, which is what the 3ds checks itself against - that would actually require literally hacking into Nintendo's servers and modifying their data, which is WAY beyond the scope of homebrew. A hack like that would be way bigger than the Sony hack; this would be more akin to hacking into a bank website with an app and changing your balance.

>Ok, so put it on the target 3ds

When? If you put it on BEFORE the system transfer happens, then it's no longer recognized as the target 3ds is formatted during the transfer. If it gets put on AFTER the system transfer happens, then the transfer's already gone through without the needed game.

If you have an idea, spit it out, cause a lot of people will get right on it.

That "check" checks what's on the original 3ds against Nintendo's actual list of software associated with the NNID. You can't bypass this, or modify Nintendo's list (cause that's on their systems). The only thing you could possibly do is try to convince Nintendo that "Game A" is actually "Game B" by sending the right information, and then the original 3ds would transfer it.

Problem is, Nintendo's list is checked against once it reaches the new 3ds, and it checks the files themselves, not just the titles - so on the new 3ds, you can't fool Nintendo during the system transfer since all homebrew would be erased, so it would just cause an error and reject said game that doesn't match it's title.

FIXED:

Here's what to do
1. Put the SD card back into your computer
2. search for the "extdata" directory
3. Rename "extdata" directory to something else like "extdata - old"
4. Put the SD card back into your DS and open the theme menu
5. Theme menu will give you a setting up window, when that's done its thing then you can try menuhax again.

disable wifi on your pc
on your ps3, set up a wired internet connection. Do not use DHCP, but assign static IP configuration.

IP address: 192.168.0.2
Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.0.1

In Windows, find the settings foryour ethernet in network connections. Use these settings and validate them on exit.

IP address: 192.168.0.1
Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.0.1

Then you should be able to connect to your PS3 with ftp://192.`68.0.2

There actually isn't really a check. Every game needs a ticket (no matter whether it's a legit eShop download, a .cia of any origin or a freeShop download) but System Transfer doesn't send any tickets across at all. When the system reboots after the transfer, it gets new ones for games attached to your NNID/eShop account (over the internet from Nintendo directly). If this fails for any reason, you can't play any of your legit games until you connect to the eShop, making them reappear all of a sudden. Pirated games obviously don't get a ticket during the mass ticket redownload.

This is done because tickets are bound to both the active account and the active device ID. They literally can't be transferred at all without a CFW doing a sigpatch, so they don't do it. Safer this way too.

Potentially dumb question about 3DS saves, /hbg/

What's the best utility for transferring saves from a CIA to a real cartridge? Most of the information I find is for the reverse.

Trying to make sure I've got a method sorted for the future so I can play sun/moon via a cia while my physical cartridge is being imported.

I'm not sure if JK's SaveManager or svdt has that functionality.

I've heard mention of SaveDataFiler but I'm not sure how to use it properly. I could export a save from the cia but couldn't seem to import it into the cartridge. I read that it had this functionality, so I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing wrong.

If anyone has some advice or recommends an alternate tool it would be greatly appreciated.
>>
>>151588570

When Nintendo updates FIRM from 2.51 to 2.52 or higher, which they are guaranteed to do as of next update, RxTools will no longer allow games to work online, and new games will be unplayable on it. In fact, every single CFW will break when that happens - while most of them will be fixed up relatively shortly after, RxTools has been completely abandoned.

So you can technically still play games on it, but literally EVERYTHING online and every new game will be unusable on it.
>>
>>151588732
I would also like this know about this.

>>
>>151589040
So, do I have to create a dropbox account to download it?
>>
>>151588807
Luma won't break in that way because it extracts and uses the system firmware, it's already using the new FIRM version that 11.0 introduced (11.0 changed it, they just didn't introduce anything actually requiring that version).

It can break in other ways because of that though, some of which can be "lethal" in that Nintendo gets to run whatever they want on the ARM9 if you blindly update your system like an idiot without waiting for devs to check what the update's doing. They could theoretically use that to uninstall a9lh if (and only if) you're one of said idiots.

Running like shit on O3DS: It's probably not gonna be any better than X/Y so 100% (but I'm not expecting Hyrule Warriors tier)
Requiring 11.0 SysNAND specifically: 0%, no way for normal software to tell SysNAND version on EmuNAND unless Sys is below 6.0 or so (missing new save keys, even that isn't really a thing games can check). Whatever NAND you're using will almost certainly have to be 11.0 though. 11.0 came out in early May and was finalized late April, well before they started making the carts.

It will be a 11.0 cart - so it will update you to 11.0 I'd you're not updated already.
>>
>>151589357
Ok, I'll reword it.

RxTools will break the second FIRM 2.52 comes out and will NEVER be fixed.

Every other CFW + a9lh can potentially be broken by the FIRM update depending on what Nintendo specifically implements in the update. a9lh can, with 100% certainty, be made compatible with the new FIRM. Other CFW's can, with 99% certainty, be made compatible with the new CFW - There is a theoretical chance that Nintendo could block any pure CFW from working, but the likelihood is astronomically low.

So, with that in mind, when update 11.1/2.52 comes out: a9lh will (most likely) get a new payload, probably the day it comes out, that makes the new FIRM completely safe to download. CFW's other than RxTools will MOST VERY likely get updates that enables them to be completely safe. RxTool users should jump ship now or else, once Browserhax is patched, they will have to rely on a game hax to get a new cfw.

>>
>>151594512
Jesus, you are a complete nub. Well, from the top:

>Consoles
Everything up to the SNES is emulatable. The SNES itself has poor emulation, but that will eventually be fixed and will be near perfect.

PSOne will be injectable some time this year, so emulator work will be slow.

N64 will be emulatable sometime this year, and it'll hit great performance sometime next year.

Saturn is theoretically possible for the Vita to emulate but it has SHIT for documentation and is a very convoluted system, so no one should hold their breath for one.

Dreamcast and higher require too much power, so the Vita won't be able to produce a functional emulator. There may be a proof of concept later in the Vita's life of the Dreamcast or the Gamecube, but they'll likely only load the title screen and run at <1fps, that is if they don't crash immediately upon load up.

>Handhelds
Everything up to the GBA is emulatable. The GBA itself has poor emulation, but that will eventually be fixed and will be near perfect.

NGage will be emulatable and running at good performance once someone cares to make the emulator for it.

PSP will be injectable later this year. Emulators will likely not happen, due to the Vita not having enough power to properly run homebrew to emulate PSP games - if it does happen expect half frame rate and glitch or no audio.

DS will probably happen but it will remain poor.

3DS emulation is about as possible as the 3DS emulating Vita games - which is to say, it won't happen. We don't even have half decent 3ds Emulation for PC's yet. A proof of concept might pop up many years in the future, in the same vein as a PoC emulator for the Gamecube might, in that it'll run at 1fps or crash.
>>
>>151595068

Probably just let you install DRM free content. Might be useful for getting VHBL without a PS3.
>>
>>151595068
Let's you install DRM-free pkgs, basically you can install demos from other PSN regions or free DLC. It's good for me because I got P4:Dancing All Night from Europe but my PSN account is american, so I can install the free DLC using this
>>
>>151594897
Alright. But I'm assuming upgrading to a9lh is the best thing to do with upcoming firmware in mind?

I don't think it was around when I first set this stuff up so I'm a little confused. Which of the guides should I be using for installing a9lh considering I've already got a softmodded 3DS with emunand and shit.

Sorry for the questions; I've tried to refrain from messing around with stuff or looking into the improvements in the 3DS homebrew scene in fear of fucking it up.
>>
>>151595205
yep you can start on part 4 of the guide in the op since you already have cfw but upgrade to luma beforehand
>>
>>151595205
2 things you can do.

If all of the following is true: your nands are unlinked, you haven't installed any GBA games, you don't have the ambassador GBA titles, you're on 9.0.0-9.2.0, then you can follow the information on the "get started page" which says:
>9.0.0 - 9.2.0 (with an existing CFW): Change menuhax to type 1, set your menuhax trigger to D-Pad down, then start the guide at Part 4.

If any of the above is NOT true, then it's advised you format your 3ds before you do the guide.
>>
>>151595336
>>151595557
Alright cool. Thanks for your replies.

My nands are unlinked, I don't have ambassador titles, my sysnand is on 9.2.0 (I think my emunand has been updated a bit), and I've got no GBA titles on sysnand.

I have however, tried to install them before on emunand via freeshop before remembering that there was specific stuff I was supposed to do. Naturally they didn't work so I deleted them.

So I guess that means I should format it first? Or does it only count if I do it properly?
>>
>>151595690
It only actually matters if you messed around with AGB_FIRM or if you had the ambassador title license. Otherwise you're good to go - just replace the RxTools folder with the Luma folder and start at Part 4.
>>
which vita would be best to get for homebrewing, 1000 or 2000, I heard the 2000 wasn't able to use either memory slots at the same time which made me curious as to if I'd have issues with it.
>>
>>151595854

it makes no difference
>>
>>151595767
Alright, I'm pretty sure i didn't do that. Cheers.

I'm guessing setting up A9LH is pretty important for future stuff as far as FIRM 2.52 goes?
I mean, it's probably not enough to just switch to luma and not bother with A9LH? I'm guessing most of the benefits of a cfw from luma is how it utilizes a9lh or something?
>>
>>151595854
>>151595854

1003 is the best since we have full access. After that, 2007 is significant faster at loading everything and is much easier to find. Anything else is the same and way worse.
>>
>>151589685
considering XY and ORAS barely run on the o3ds id say just. They have to make it run on it because of the 2ds x pokemon.

Running on 11 why? Thats good anyway since everyone is on sys 11.0.0 -33 (Code) anyway
>>
>>151596123

>1003 is the best since we have full access
what the hell does this mean?
>>
>>151596059
well maybe not a9lh since it's not a cfw luma is, think of a9lh like bootmii on the wii its up when you turn it on and before anything from nintendo loads, stuff like this gives you cfw on your sysnand and unbricking without a hardmod
>>
>>151596123
Yeah?
>>
"It is HIGHLY recommended that you only use these CIA files if you know EXACTLY what you are doing and do so ONLY in an emuNand"

what did he mean by this
>>

which CIA files
>>
>>151596123
>1003 is best

Technically 1001c is best since we can get payloads to boot from VRAM and completely bypass the ssh, but they're rediculously hard to find nowadays.
>>
>>151596330
just making sure you have cfw and to not install them on sysnand, sounds outdated though since there's cfw sysnand now
>>
>>151596229
Ah, gotcha.
Maybe I might not do the a9lh stuff then. At least not now. That said, I can understand the appeal of cfw on your sysnand. I just tried to use JK Save Manager to grab a save from a cia and it only detected things on my sysnand.

I'm guessing I can launch luma through menu hacks and bootmanager or whatever it's called like I was with rxtools?
>>
>>151596468
surprisingly i just found one on amazon for 144.99 CAD
>>
also I heard Borderlands 2 runs like absolute ass on the Vita, is that true?

you launch luma the same you launched rxtools

it used to have unstable fps and constant drops dropping down to low 10s, they did release some sort of patch dunno how much it fixed it doubt it did much
>>
>>151596608
Yes, unfortunately. Not all areas fall to the absolute crawl it is in the main town, but the performance by and large is very bad.

That said, some people have said they've had decent experiences with it. That's probably more indicative of very low standards, but you never know.

I wouldn't recommend it, though.

>>151596623
Perfect. Thanks anon, and thanks to everyone else who has been answering my many questions in this thread.

With Luma, do I still need NTR to load DLCs from another region?
>>
>>151596123
>>151596468
>>151596537
I'm... confused. I was under the impression that the X in 100X is the region, which means 1001 would be a burger PSV and 1003 a bong one, nothing else.

and why would a Taiwanese slim be 'significant faster at loading everything'?
>>
>>151596797
I just searched up PCH1001 Vita on amazon.ca

Retroarch's porting their emulator to the vita, so it's likely we'll get that first than the injectable ones.

It's already a thing. Reports are coming in that the past few nightlies could run a couple of 2D games quite well.

If I order a Vita from Japan because they don't sell them locally around here anymore and Japan also has nifty colors, is the default language going to be set to JP or will I be able to switch it to English.

The console itself is region free, no problems for you on that front.

The default language can be set on the initial boot, which can be english or even japanese if you prefer.

Decent! Do you think you could probably recommend me a Memory Card Size for it as well?
I was planning on homebrewing it and I would really like to actually be able to play games but I could most likely pay like, 100.00 or more for a good memory card if I need one.

Quick question
I put JK save manager on my homebrewed 3ds. It's an 11.0 N3DS.
MHGSV works fine, but whenever I select a game in JK the system freezes on a red screen. Any suggestions?

I think if it's a pre-installed system+software bundle, you have to follow Nintendo's instructions to link the game to your NNID or something. Check their website; it's something that cause a lot of issues when they first started selling stuff like that.

>>151601110
If it weren't for based XCeed, there would be basically nothing on the 3DS that didn't get dumbed down for kids or made to be kiddie in the first place. Considering Nintendo doesn't like swimsuits in T-rated games (I'm Americlap) I'm amazed that we even get that much.

How do I check NNID stuff?
Do I have to open the eShop?
And can I see that stuff/open the eShop without updating the console?
I am on 10.7 and wanted to do a factory reset before performing the hacks, don't really want to update to 11.0 if I can avoid it since apparently that is troublesome.
>>
>>151601609
I'm not 100% sure; check the instructions Ninty gives and see what's involved before you try anything. You could just pseudo-pirate the game after you set it all up anyway.

Also, why do you want the factory reset? If you just do it from the in-menu option, it doesn't actually lower your firmware, just wipes everything installed.
