I seriously don't understand Bungie's aversion to modifying the raid items so they aren't broken or to whatever state they deem reasonable. They played around with the stats of other gear, restructured the loot table and perk system, and even ripped perks directly off of guns that they thought were imba.
So why the fuck can't they slap new perks and baby nerfs on the VoG and CE weapons so I can use them again? Or release Y3 versions? At the very least let max light level raid class items drop, there is absolutely no reason for those to be witheld.

Because that ruins the mythology of those guns that the community has built. No one wants a Fatebringer without Outlaw and Firefly. No one wants a Vision without the perks and stats the Vision has always had. Even if they did, there's still the removal of the elemental damage. So why use a 335 Vision if it doesn't do Solar damage and it isn't the same Vision you remember?
The class item thing doesn't really make sense but there's more than enough reasons to not give us a Y2/Y3 Found Verdict or whatever.

I think they intentionally want to curb hoarding, if all goes well we're looking at /at least/ eight more years of destiny, if they decide to honor their intention to let us keep the gear though all of it (Which, while I doubted it earlier, claims of basically all but the old raid gear returning for RoI made me think that just might be the case) they might just be trying to make sure people are aware of the same thing they've mentioned a couple times by now which is you'll have to make some decisions about your inventory. If you have a Y1, Y2, and Y3 handcan, all have the same stats and same or similar perks, which one do you keep? People can argue collections all they want but when your perk loadout and shit are randomly generated there's just no point to it.

I can see keeping some weapons for crucible, I do the same, but there's only so many characters you have and so many characters you need, we have 108 slots per category, we have 8 weapon types (9 but swords don't have random rolls so won't count it for this demonstration)
Each weapon type has 3 archeypes, right? so if you took every archetype, of every weapon, and saved a god-roll you'd still only take up 72 slots. This is a game where you have 3 characters and ten weapon slots per character.
How many sniper rifles does a person really need? Y1 and Y1 upgraded vaults were truly shit, but I think Y2 vault is sufficient, its like clothes you know, any functioning person can tell you if you haven't worn it for two years, you're not going to wear it, and if you're not sure if you need something or not, you don't.

Here's the flaw, you assume a vexmind system works by our current understanding of collectives, when nearly nothing about the vex operates under our known parameters. What's more, Toland himself likely doesn't even operate under our laws any more, and we already know how interaction between the vex and the deep goes.
