Okay so this is the result of a 5 consecutive DL live run using a Regular difficulty track. I decided to test this because last night I ran the DL live literally 75 times and could count the number of runs that gave me presents on two hands.

If what I tested turns out to be true, then I believe the reason I wasn't getting presents last night is because I was not hitting any of the special tempo notes (hitting a note to the song's rhythm perfectly and getting the iM@S logo). Last night I turned my song difficulty to Regular so I could half-assedly EX Clear songs and reduce the wear and tear on my joints and on my controller, paying no mind to trying to hit the special notes.

I am going to continue to test this until the DL live event is over, especially on higher song difficulties to test if the higher song note potential gives increased chance for more presents.

I have a hard time believing that presents are simply RNG because
a) The special note can proc on less than perfect notes, as shown during my 2nd run. So it cant be a measure of how well you're hitting the notes to the tempo of the song, instead it could be something else
b) I ran the DL live 75 times last night and was hardly rewarded with any presents in comparison. Sure you could argue for RNG but compare 4 consecutive present rewards vs 75 with less than 10 present rewards. Those odds don't make any sense at all. I will continue running DLs to decrease the statistical error but that will take more time. I will make another post in the next few days when I have more data.

I think the most significant out of all my runs are the 2nd and 5th ones.

Okay so at this time I can now pretty much confirm that the special notes you get are directly related to presents. I had another dry spell of songs that wouldn't give me any of them, and unsurprisingly I wouldn't get any presents from them.

I just switched around my idols and changed songs from a rank 5 one to a rank 4 one (because that was the only thing that changed and the dry spell was irritating me to the point of wanting to try anything) and suddenly I was getting a bunch of them. At the end of that live my dry spell ended and I got 2 large presents. I doubt that song rank has anything to do with it though.

Welp I just repeated the same live with the same conditions and got no special notes and no present rewards. I have no goddamn idea how to get the notes to proc but I'm about 90% sure that the amount you get determines your present reward. There's definitely some RNG involved in whether the live will allow you to hit them or not.

I'm leaning towards RNG now. I do everything the same when I don't hit the notes and when I do hit the notes, including adjusting the timing on my PERFECT hits. One thing I noticed though is the amount of special notes you hit before the rub note comes decides how many you get from the rub note itself. I've had songs where I hit one or two special notes and when the rub note comes along, I get around that amount too.

I don't think there's any hidden formation mechanics or song/song rank mechanics, because there's just no evidence that points to that. I keep everything the same and then the next time I try, nothing.

Is it possible to manipulate the amount of special notes you get before the rub notes? I've noticed that when I've had to restart songs I won't get them in the same place, even if I get the same number across the song itself.

Song rates definitely don't have anything to do with it (at least for me). I'm using songs from 7 to 10 in the DL live and there's no difference between when I get them and when I don't.

I wouldn't, only because I don't wear t-shirts by themselves when I go out, always wearing polos or button-up shirts over my t-shirts so the graphics never matter to anyone but myself anyway. And even then, I'm not really one for full-graphic t-shirts. If I had a shirt of that of any of my favorite idols like Rin or Mika, I'd probably end up just hanging it on the wall, in the same way a sports fan would hang up a player's jersey. I don't go to cons, so no power level show-offs there either.

The most I'll be seen with is one of those hook & loop patches on one of my tactical caps, but I haven't rocked that look yet since I haven't broken in my new hat yet.

Yep. I've made all the posts regarding present drop rates in these past two threads, since I've been testing non stop since then. I actually did an All Star Live as well and each song game me the opportunity to get the perfect+ notes and I ended up getting 3 large presents I believe.

As it stands now, here's what i've found to be the case
There seem to be 3 possible outcomes when you start a live show with regard to presents.
1) You get a song with little to no opportunity to hit special notes, which decide the amount and size of presents that you get. At the very least you get SOME (as in 2 or 3) and if you hit them you'll get a small present.
2) You get a song with a decent opportunity to hit a large amount of them, and if you do so you will be rewarded with presents reflecting how many you hit.
3) It's a dud and you get no opportunity for special notes. Restarting or closing the application does not seem to change anything, which points to the fact that it may be calculated before you even start the live.

I'm testing this myself right now. I highly doubt that timing on the Perfect note affects whether or not it turns into a special note. I'm talking whether it's a tenth of a second before the note hits the center or a tenth of a second after the note hits. Its hard to tell but I have a feeling it doesn't matter. I have gotten a special note on a Good and even Normal note and I have the video evidence to prove it. It's more likely that a predetermined amount of special notes are placed on the song before you begin the live and as long as you don't miss it, you get it. I'm still not ruling out the timing factor though because the vast majority of the special notes that i've hit have been on Perfect hits. It just needs more testing.

I did some testing on your theory on dry spell, and found that after playing a song 5 times in a row without getting any Perfect+ then switching to another song, I once again started getting Perfect+. I have a feeling song choice has DR. Will try a couple more times to confirm.

I don't think so, although i'm going to take the easy way out and say that anything is possible. I remember someone said that they felt they would get more special notes by doing lives appropriate to their rank. The only live i've tested has been the DL A rank live, with All Star Lives being the exception of course. Another note, the last All Star Live I did was S rank and gave me a large present and two small ones, and each song gave me some special notes.

Each job gives about as much Memory "EXP" as far as I can tell so that probably depends entirely which job you use to grind.

And I'm almost certain Iori's initial memory appeals take longer to level up than the other idols which might also be a factor for 4 > 5.

I had my lead idol around level 70 when I got my 5th memory but that was ONLY because I spammed cash ---> EXP ---> cash jobs to rush it.

The 5th memory was absolutely essential to my clearing of the final DL live. With the gear I had my point total went from 54,250 to 60k. There was no other way to increase my score in a feasible amount of time.

Use those Valentine chocolates and spam quick jobs to cut down on loading screens/conversations. You could alternatively just grind out lives for the song rankups, fans and money which are all necessary anyways, but my trio were all rank A so that was not a priority to me.
