Isn't the inherent challenge of this game kind of defeated by just being able to invite a bunch of friends to plow through everything together? Not that I have anything against friends playing games, of course it's fun, but I've always played these games solo first time through for fear of ruining the experience, then got together with friends to do stuff afterwards just for fun.

I don't know maybe it's more fun to run through first time with co-op, but I'm just kind of worried about ruining the solo experience.

I know that Miyazaki has said that difficulty is not the main point and so forth, but I think it's a bit silly how 'Souls is not hard Miyazaki said so' has become something of a meme. DeS especially is clearly just designed to be challenging. There aren't many games that cut your health in half and make the enemies harder when you die. It may not be the main point, but it's clearly a factor.

Maybe it's just me, but I was just disappointed with how easy all the bosses were in DaS2, primary thing I didn't like about it. But hey yeah, to each their own, experience it how you like, etc.

The best thing about unironically wasting 15 points in vitality is that the stat is so inefficient, so absolutely awful and returns such little value per point invested that you literally have not gained ANY advantage in poise or effective HP over someone with base vitality.

You need something close to 50 vit before you've actually invested enough to equal 5 points of scaling in strength or dex.

It has a pontiff ring effect where consecutive attacks restore health and increase damage. Fortunately it works when you have it on your back or there'd be no point to it.

His mindless drones are using it because it has a passive effect of both pontiff eye rings built-in. As long as it's on your back, any weapon you're using will trigger a damage buff after 2-3 hits and a small heal after several more. It's worthless for most things but for paired weapons, especially those with multi-hit WAs, it can slightly increase the damage of your combos.

I got bored of sl80 because most people there are terrible.

How do people do that thing where they go standing R1->running attack with no delay?
I've had a few people pull it on me earlier tonight. It's clearly some kind of trick because they transition from the R1 to the running attack without taking a step, like they're cancelling the first R1 into another attack, except that second attack is a running attack. It's so fast that the running attack will combo if the R1 lands, like a true R1 R1 stunlock except dealing slightly more damage.

A few of the obvious "I'm trying super hard to imitate tourneyfags from twitch" players pulled it on me, and it's genuinely difficult to deal with if they're using something like a katana where they can mash R1s constantly and pull an instant running attack whenever they want.

No. They R1, as in they perform a standing R1 attack. During the recovery of their standing R1 attack, they instantly cancel the attack into a running attack.

It's different from the guard buffer bug. They're instantly performing a running attack after a normal attack without moving.

Farron is a fun UGS but very bad against good players.

Wolf Knight is a great Greatsword that has a strong and varied moveset even if the weapon arts are very situational.

Both are also good in PvE, and they gain a 20% damage boost against Abyssal enemies including Aldrich.

In DaS1, it was literally a clone of the BKGS with higher requirements and weird scaling. It was worse with any sane stat investment, but became better at high levels, at which point it was a direct upgrade.

But the Wolf Knight GS isn't even based on that. It's the Abyss Greatsword minus the humanity requirement. The Abyss Greatsword didn't scale with int/fth.

I don't think there's ever actually a situation where using a Wolf Knight GS weapon art is actually the correct thing to do. Sure, sometimes the WA might actually hit somebody, but any time the WA would have hit them, an R1 would have hit them as well and led into more damage. The only reason to use them is to just style on people, because doing flips is fun and under very, very rare circumstances might not get you punished. That's the best you can hope for, really.

I've seen him use it and he's good with it, and you can do some fun things with the Farron GS like I said, but in meta-tier PvP it has far too many weaknesses. Same recovery/stamina issues with attacks as other UGS weapons, slow as hell outside of the L1, and the biggest issue is that every attack of it is parryable, and the attacks are all slow enough that you can parry them on reaction for anyone committed too it with a small shield/caestus. Now its pluses are far more mobility and roll catching ability then any other UGS due to the L1s and the R1>L1 combo, but the weaknesses have to be considered as well.

The WA R1 is alright for rollcatching idiots who roll into you and has HA, while the spinning flip has decent range that can punish pokes of slower weapons very effectively. Of course the latter can just as easily be accomplished by the 1HR2 of the Wolf Knight, which is the longest reaching poke out of any Greatsword by far.

I read an article once about research into the site of battle that occurred during the Viking era between people with swords and chain-link shirts as armor. Apparently ~90% of the femurs of the bodies they found had gashes in them that indicated they'd been stabbed/slashed in the thigh and had likely bled out afterward, since it was one part of the body that was uncovered.

There's a huge concentration of veins and arteries in your legs, specifically your thighs. They're one of the best targets with any cutting weapon, as you'll cripple your opponent's ability to stand and fight immediately and almost certainly cause them to bleed out or die of infection later. People were willing to give it a chance but then when the flaws showed itself was very quick to fall apart. damn, this is difficult to do. i found a really weird thing about him - if you stand to the side of him during phase 2 he can do a side swipe and that will cause desync and the swipe's followup can be any attack from phase 1 pool, but he can also sometimes just do any attack from phase 1 pool if you stand to his side, even the 6 hit cheerleader combo

if you're far away, you can sprint away from it or sprint from the charge and roll the swipe. if you're close, you can roll to your right and into the safe spot near his free arm and then roll the swipe or roll to your left and into the hilt of the halberd and roll the swipe. the timing for the first roll in both cases is when he lifts his foot. you can also lock on and just walk around him (but you have to be VERY close to do that, i think, i haven't tried it). you can also sprint to your right and around him and the swipe will completely miss you - i think that's the easiest way to do it, i can never roll that charge. i can find videos that show how to do every of these dodges if you want
