That is not even remotely true, 101 was released in January and by the time we got Beelze in the spring, everyone and their mothers was running Ark as easy generic E/D based removal, so it wasn't an issue unless you wanted to stick Beelze in def to wall up.

Castel was the final nail in Beelze's coffin, as nobody would bother making it when they knew the opponent could just spin it back easy as fuck.

How make Yu-Gi-Oh popular among casuals and nostalgiafags:

Konami releases dozens of pre-built old decks list.
Those decks do not follow any banlist restrictions, they contain banned cards that are not broken in those decks.
Example: Harpies have acess to 1 Tempest, maybe even 1 Harpie's Feather Duster for the flavor.
Those decks are allowed in official tournaments, to use them you must build a regular deck including at least 20 cards from the pre-built deck, and declare which deck you are using.

This would work much better than "local shops are allowed to host tournaments with their own banlist now". I bet people don't even remember this anymore.

The deck is too shit to be anything but rogue currently.
Bricks easily.
Even if it doesn't brick, sometimes all it can do is put 2 vanillas on board and pass.
Without either trap card you have absolutely no disruption, removal, or anything besides some vanilla beaters, so you have to deep draw and hope to god you hit the perfect setup.
If you use them all up and have no way to get them back to grave you starve and die. Meanwhile the dude on the opposite side of table is masturbating his whole extra on the board while having insane utility, negation, and options, which Darklords lack. Not to mention if you get punched once or twice and you're down to low LP before you can make some plays you're fucked.

Darklords need more good spells if they want to be meta. A foolish for darklord cards and a breakthrough skill/counter trap would do wonders.

I was thinking of the nature of vaporwave and tried designing an archetype that takes the notion of existing but not. The card effects would only work on your opponent's turn and you would have to play your turn very passively, basically drawing and ending your turn and play on your opponent's turn.
