I like Adventure style in concept. I just feel like it wasn't handled the best. IE. if they made a new game that plays like the adventure games I'd enjoy it a lot. It's really versatile

So I replayed through Sonic CD today, once for a Robot Generator run, and once for a Time Stone run.

How does anyone list these games as their favorite in the Genesis era? Everything just feels clunky. The layout lacks any sense of cohesion or flow. The object placement seems to just want to halt your forward momentum with so many left facing springs or badnicks or other hazards.

Worst levels were the first part of Collision Chaos Act 2, Metallic Madness Act 2, and all of Wacky Workbench.

Apart from your Wacky Workbench complaint, the levels are built for exploration, and a "Git gud" attitude to speed, meaning you have to explore the level a bit before you even find a place to go fast.
Which I personally love, it's great having a Sonic where you have to slow down and appreciate the level design APART FROM WACKY WORKBENCH FUCK THE WHOLE THING SHUT IT DOWN after playing Sonic 2 where you pick a route you like and stick to it almost every time.

To be mostly honest.... I haven't played much of the Game Gear games and thought there might be a bit of interest in streaming Tails Adventure
But as of now I played all of the Sonic titles in completion via Steam.
So I might take it to streaming maybe Sonic Shuffle or any of the less emulated/ported games on Twitch.

Its either that or continue replaying Adventure 1/2 and try to attempt PB's on various stages on each game. Replay Generations from the beginning to end? Lost World? Sonic 4 Ep 1 or 2?

(I like to stream for interactivity yet while streaming like to raise money for Saving the Children foundation. Slow but steady I have raised $15 towards charity. Most of all I like to entertain the viewers while I succeed/fail at the game.)

That's a problem, because they were a major factor in her character in CD. If anything, it was comparable to Tails' tech skills in Sonic 2. Most people playing the game probably wouldn't know about it, but the fact of the matter is it was still a core aspect of the character.

Amy came to Little Planet by order of the cards because they predicted that she would have a destined encounter with Sonic. Amy's Tarot card reading is more of an aspect of her character than something that defines it. It's more like something she can do rather than a large character trait like Tails' inventing. It's more comperable to Tails' fear of lightning or Knuckle's shyness around girls. It fleshes out their character but it doesn't define how they act. I do feel like Amy does have some powers beyond just "swing hammer" but it's nothing substantial enough worth dwelving into any more than they already have. As far as story goes it usually seems she just has decent spacial awareness and an subtle ability to find things or sneak into places.

Look the discussion isn't about her having these abllites not being canon. It's about them being important to her character. And they are not, her being crazy about Sonic is the most defining thing to her character.

Her crush is the reason she went to Little Planet, if her magic BS showed her where Sonic was and she didn't give a shit about him she wouldn't have went and that plot wouldn't have happened.

Her crush and her craziness about it with her hammer is the most defining well known trait, not her magic shit. It's not like I hate it, it's just not her most defining trait like how being smart is Tails trait.

On the topic of Amy and magic, the point is, that was her specialty. Mysticism was her "thing". She was THE magical girl of the franchise, but it wasn't executed properly. It was done right story-wise in the manual, but in the actual game? No visible hint at it anywhere. In the game, she was just some girl fawning over Sonic that got kidnapped by Metal Sonic, and Sonic had to save her. That's all the player sees. Everything the manual said, from being called Rosie the Rascal, to possessing mystical abilities, to that being the reason she went to Little Planet in the first place and found Sonic, all went unnoticed by pretty much everyone. Once Sonic Adventure came out, redesigned her, gave her the Magical Hammer from Fighters (being named the Piko Piko Hammer), and called her simply "Amy Rose", all the mysticism was forgotten by everyone except some of the people at SEGA. And the direction her character took was changed forever. She wasn't the "Magical Girl" anymore, she was just a girl with a hammer.

And so, practically no own truly understands who and what Amy is.

All of these are going to be tied to Knuckles. I mean, Ian did a good job with her and all but I can't think much of her character outside of loving Knuckles and wanting to stay with him. I think she hated her mother, and was didn't want to let her friends down, I'm sure that's cause Ian was carrying on from Penders rather than Ian's fault.

Look at the size of the fucking family section. How much of that do we really need to know? If anything, that and the fact that you're listing an old as shit Sonic comic that hasn't been reprinted as a first appearence is bound to turn off anyone that wasn't already turned off at this point.
The problem is that Penders is trying to have his cake and eat it too. He wants to stick closely to his roots with Sonic for the "fans" but also wants to appeal to a new crowd, who would get turned away by all this backstory.

Sometimes I think that sonic nerfs tails. From following sonic around everywhere, sonic has probably done a good job of showing tails that as long as you are strong enough and fast enough, you can do anything. Thus tails rarely has any pressure put on him to better himself or make use of his talents. Sonic doing what sonic does has let tails live a comfortable life in his shadow where he doesn't have to do much more than fly a plane around every once in a blue moon. This lack of pressure on tails to actually be needed to do something is why we rarely see tails make use of any of his talents such as problem solving or building.

Sonic by far beats Tails when you memorize everything however, but the fact Tails is so easy to pick up makes him a credible threat to Sonic's image. It's hard to give him a middle ground.

You know what it is? Contrivance, plain and simple. Penders wanted Knuckles to shack up with Julie Su, but instead of giving her a character and taking the time to naturally build chemistry between the two of them, he makes up Soultouch so that he can have the romance without the hard work.

And this would be fine if this kind of thing didn't also show itself in his writing. A lot of his characters get tons of backstory and fanfare but no meat..

Let me put it this way. In his one appearence, Maw has a more solid characterization, goals, and set of motivations than 90% of Penders' characters. And Maw is meant to be mysterious on PURPOSE
