Hey guys, I'm just popping in to get your opinions on this.
I'm working to replace the battle sprites for DashBored.
What do you think about this?

Eeeh, it's probably because I'm just used to it but I kinda like his hair a little less detailed. It's probably because in the older one he just has like bed head but in the new one it sorta looks like it's all combed over in a weird way. I dunno though. The pose is much better, but I kinda like how disinterested and annoyed the older sprite looks. Maybe give the new one a more annoyed expression with the eye brows?

Jesus even Knuckle Sandwich sorta understood how to do glitches better than this. At least that game was sorta subtle about it in its trailers. This game isn't even subtle, it just flat out tells you the surprise of the game. I mean it could work but it just doesn't sound that interesting really. There's nothing setting it apart from the other earthbound inspired games like Undertale, Lisa, Mother 4, and heck even Knuckle Sandwich with its muppet looking characters and far superior looking wario ware battle system. I haven't played it though, only watched the trailer, so I can't really say too much.

GameMaker has some issues. You can't define constants. Some of the coding in GML is surprisingly convoluted. As far as I can tell GameMaker is pretty good but there are some things that annoy me.

I'm not sure yet. I got a story on the plate and I'm designing gameplay scenarios around it. At one point the protagonist needs to track down the phone number of a stranger so the player has to take care of that. There will be fighting so I might put in turn-based battles.

From 8.1 to Studio, they changed "Constants" to "Macros". I don't know why, but whatever. Open the Resources dropdown menu to find the list. Alternatively, you could create a script to initialize local variables when you need to call on certain stuff.
