Does the aiming in this game feel off to anyone else? I feel like I have trouble putting my sights on the traget but I then go play games like Verdun, Insurgency, CS source and dod source and don't have any problems. He had his deflect up when it connected. The server recognized it and it shows if you look at the recording. Tracer would have been fucked on that hook because blink doesn't count as something that disconnects hook. Genji still needs to preemptively reflect instead of reactively because of 20 tick working against him. I'm sure you can hook him out of dash just like Tracer, he just has a better ability for hook.

Guys, please fucking help me. I don't know what's going on and I'm verging on a nervous breakdown.

I always feel like the enemy team has 100% perfect aim and will insta-gib me whenever I show my face because that's what usually happens. I pop around a corner, and I instantly get hit by a hanzo arrow and a Zarya bomb, dying on the spot. I play Reaper and I spend a few minutes getting behind the enemy team, and within a second, they all turn and shoot me right in the face. So I'm constantly playing under this pretense that the enemy team is pretty much flawless and I'm insanely weak. Say I'm playing McCree. I have to play under the pretense that Pharahs and Soldiers have 100% accuracy with their rockets, because they pretty much do.

I can't win a duel for the life of me even with a surprise attack. The enemy players always just whip around and two shot me while I struggle to make ends meet. If I'm playing a healer, a Genji will dive through my entire team and eat me alive. I can never fend him off while my team can't even touch him. Is my positioning shit? Am I not jumping enough? Am I not moving erratically enough? I don't get it. I just don't get it. I've lost like 12/15 games today while solo queuing.

I don't get it; I'm not improving at all. I play for hours every day and yet I don't feel like I'm playing any better than I was when I started this game.

My most-played hero is Zarya; you'd think that after having some days where I play literally nothing but her I'd be able to at the very least keep my beam on someone, right? No, I consider it a blessing when I'm even able to take off half of someone's hp with it, because most games I just flat out can't keep it trained on anyone but the enemy tank.

It's just so discouraging trying to play any of the actual difficult heroes like Tracer or the gook brothers, since no matter how much time passes I can't do better with them at all.

How do you guys manage to actually get better at this game? A lot of people say it's in the mindset, but I don't believe mindset matters until you have a solid level of mechanical skill, which I just can't seem to attain even through hours of practice.

Likely all of this is true, but mainly it just seems like you have bad aim. If you are losing 1v1 fights even when you get the drop on them, it means you are being severely out dps'ed, meaning your aim is bad. You can help fix this by fiddling with your sensitivity and maybe buying a better mouse, but mostly you just have to practice. The practice range exists for a reason. Aim for the head.

Anon, a lot of us have been playing CS and Quake for 20 years. Your aim isn't going to become great with a few hours or even a few days of practice. It takes months and years. There's no way to rush it. You just have to keep practicing. Try to have fun. :)

Who is and isn't a counter can depend on the game mode and whether they're attacking or defending. No one ever factors this in.

For example everyone says Genji can run away from Winston but if Winston is on defense and Genji is on attack it doesn't matter if Genji runs away. He's not accomplishing much by doing that either. If he wants to do anything outside of picking off enemies who overextend he'll have to go into Harambe's territory.

Or what the fuck is D.va on defense going to do on her own against an offense Reinhardt on payload maps? Her effectiveness, or at least doing anything with the objective, is zero if her team can't deal with Reinhardt because she certainly isn't going to win in a 1v1 with him. And if she runs away? The payload keeps on moving.

zarya in particular is kind of shit unless you have 50+ charge, that might be why your beam cant kill anything. also, her right click is great. use that a lot. practice using the beam on fatties until you git gud.

you could also play something that doesnt take as much mechanical skill, like winston, lucio, or reaper. you can work on your gamesense ("mindset") with them and not worry too much about aiming perfectly.

tracer/genji are all about movement and less about aiming

Believe me, it's not that my beam can't kill anybody, it's that I can rarely ever hit anybody that is actually trying to make a conscious attempt at dodging it. Most of my damage (and kills) do in fact come from the right click.

Funny thing is, my winrate with her is decent, but I feel like not being able to properly track her beam is holding me back horribly, and I know I have definitely lost games all because I couldn't aim with it during a crucial moment.
