Yeah it bugs me how in spengies only hydrogen thrusters use any fuel besides "electricity". Ion engines IRL usually use xenon for propulsion, and atmospheric thrusters would need jet fuel of some description and also have a clear air intake.

There is a reason we abandoned all hope for all games and just started our own. We love robot wars and tried to do our own. Spengies can't do robot wars multi-player, we tried exhaustively. The only effective weapons are flippers and piston clang. You also have to make absolutely sure everyone is not using gyros, thrusters, cockpits of weapons like turrets.

For some reason pubbies really like using guns in robot wars, I dunno.

Its alright with two to four non retarded people on voice comms with one definite leader and a good server, but good luck with that.

That ship is vanilla, except for blast door mod that I used to make the edge look (but a flat sword still works) and codecat big gyros (almost vanilla strength, 30 vs 27 gyros in 3x3x3, but even this isn't needed since you can just replace them all).
After the inertial dampener update I had to revisit it, I made a vanilla version but all those thrusters were buttugly and the extra reactors needed made it too long for my liking, so I added keen gyro upgrade module, 4 hyperion reactors and imhotep thrusters.
The only downside is that the thrusters still have 10x inertial dampening, so I have to keep the dampeners turned off if I want to have fun.
Gray blocks are the blocks that were destroyed in battle or somehow replaced.

It uses a lot of power.

right now I'm using gyros to counteract the turn, since I don't have a tail rotor and thrusters won't work that way I think.
By the way this won't work since gyros are shit at balancing constant loads.
It lifts from the ground tho, another great victory for clang.

I can't seem to be able to make it so that it won't spin without gyros, center of mass is too high and too backwards, it's right below the propeller so it's hard to delete the torque from the tail rotor.
It is also a pain to actually set the pistons each time.
And my propeller just clanged (because of ground impact, otherwise is surprisingly stable).

There's a small chance but it happens mostly at igh angle like 70-80°. Basically if the laser collides with something, it pushes a rod 3cm away from the "eye". I transfer the movement using mechamagic into a little rod logic thingamajig that outputs a direction depending on the eyes. If multiple eyes are triggered it prioritises up > down > left > right. If there's no input on any eye a separate rod is pushed which will probably make it wander randomly if I can manage it.

I think that's in 5dim. Angel's gives you five or so different tiers of refining, so you can have an ore that provides copper and iron but you need to do a lot of manipulations to get out the tungsten, gold, or whatever else it contains.

So now the chain goes ore -> crushed ore -> chunks of ore -> crystals of ore -> pure ores -> metals.

It's very "fun".

Logistics can be handled via mods to a extent, life support mods already exist but often you have components that can easily solve that (growing areas, mining drills, refineries, etc).

User defined parts would be tits, however if all the various components are modeled individually (every flap on the thruster nozzle) then it would be nearly impossible to launch all but the smallest thing on a normal computer (and depending on the amount of detail, even that might require NSAlientech)

what kind of fuel (need to know density, viscosity, ignition temperature, etc)?
how to distribute it?
how to ignite it?
fuel/oxidizer ratio?
shape of the nozzle?

All these things could be simulated during the design phase thus giving out stats like the specific impulse, how much will it last, thrust generated, etc.
These stats, along with a graphical model of the engine are then used to create a single component that you can then stick on the rocket of your choice.

Most of the shit gets scaled in one or two scalars. Deciding the resolution of the model is important. Specially in a game. You have to keep in mind that systems are explained by sub-systems bellow them and have their significance on the system above. In general you only separate something and take good care of it if it's important for the test/simulation/question/problem proposed. (Do you really need to have 50 kinds of nozzles in a game where the main thing is shoot things? It may be valid elsewhere but is it for your problem?)

Helicopter won't stay stable.
It can lift up but as soon as I touch the controls it starts to swing until it's not controllable anymore.
the center of mass is aligned with the rotor, I've tried to raise/lower it but it doesn't change things. I could try to make the whole thing heavier, so it would swing slower, but the bouncy joints still don't help at all.
