I think I may have given up. Not that I've done any more work on her since I last posted about the follower.

I'm just overwhelmed with all of the games i feel like I need to be playing and giving attention to. I also am frequently flip-flopping between a neutral mood and extreme despair. I have no positive feelings towards anything I create or about myself and that makes it all the more difficult to persevere with making content and finishing the follower.

I've come here to ask if anyone would like what I have actually finished of her. Which is basically her without proper freckles, without other hairstyles, and without finished outfits. It's essentially the bare minimum.

Anyhow, here's a link to the unfinished version. I just got done uploading it. She should look like the version on the left in this picture (the one without the freckles on the body), except I believe I fixed her eyes the last time I worked on it. Maybe not though.

Her height also might be off. She's supposed to be 1.10 but she might be 1.13 since it counts the race's height before the actor's height, and I don't recall if I fixed that.

If you ever feel like it, if you're using Freckle Mania, it should be easy for someone to do up the freckles if you give the values at the bottom of the little RaceMenu color window and which overlays they go to. I had to do quite a bit for Kayleigh's follower, wouldn't be too hard. Was there anything else not finished, or was that pretty much it?

She has two chest pieces aside from the barkeeper dress and that's it. Also by chest pieces I mean literal chest pieces. She has the light hide chest with the shoulderpad and whatnot removed from it, and she has the leather chest from the Ancient Nord armor but with literally everything removed from it except for the leather harness part.

I did include bodyslide preset files so someone could make their own outfits for her if they wanted, as well as the necessary parts to make her futa if they want to as well.

Competitive gaming in general kind of makes me mad. Older games become competitive because they were both fun to play and had mechanics that allowed them to be competitive.

But, a lot of modern games are "designed" to be competitive, and it just doesn't work. Because "designed to be competitive" means they're designed for spectacle first and foremost. The mechanics and interactions tend to be really shallow in reality, but they *look* good so the game seems more impressive. To make up for the lack of real depth, the developers constantly "balance" the game, forcing people to relearn numbers. It's just all very bleh.

There's a huge essay (a small book, really) on a lot of this called Why Dota Sucks. It's a fantastic read and I highly suggest it.

It's not even just about being shallow. It's that the games (think LoL) are design to *look* deep, even though they're very much not. A spectator sees a shitload of stuff going on, and it makes the game seem deep and complicated, when in reality it's very shallow and a huge portion of player "skill" comes from pure memorization of match-ups and being able to press 4-5 keys really fast. Of course, even casual players would catch on to that pretty quickly, so they constantly have to "balance" the game to make it seem like there's all these deep mechanics that need to be balanced (there's not). It would be impossible for me to list everything that's changed, but it's impossible for an industry run by people to NOT change.

For one thing, I can say games are far more accessible than they were in the past. There's a greater focus on accessibility for all audiences, there's a far bigger emphasis on playing with others in gaming rather than playing solo, a lot of the most popular online games also tend to be multiplayer centric.

What else has changed? Expectations certainly, in the 90s it was almost unheard of to expect quality games for free, now we see those payment models becoming the norm, with in-game transactions supplementing revenue.
Games also are created with the session in mind, rather than have players grind content for days, in solo or multi-player experiences, content is gated behind sessions, in which you can do so many attempts, or play for so long before the amount of time you spend is no longer as valuable as what you're trying to obtain.

Graphics have changed.
Design philosophies have changed.
MMOs have changed.
Choice focus has changed.

I could go on, but the point is any man-made institution WILL change. Because people change, ideas change, eras change, etc.

You simply cannot make the claim "nothing changed" when talking about something as massive as the gaming industry over the course of decades.

that's fine, but you're game is still likely screwed. if you can find a solution, great, but I've run into that a few times and always had to restart from scratch. it sucks.

basically it goes like this: you don't know if your load order is good until you go thru a few games without altering it at all. play it long, like to level 80 each time. do everything you can possibly think of and if you don't experience anything overly destructive your game is good, otherwise you're screwed and have to flip shit around again. It's very time consuming, and quite often you won't even discover a problem until you get thru 20-30 levels. I've had to do this a lot, it's horrible, but once you get it it's great, but it takes a long time, and lots of frustration.

what mods you use, the order you install them, the order you load them, everything has to be considered, all the mods need to be well read, you must understand the circumstances, and what needs to be done under certain situations. you might not have planned on using requiem (don't do this), installed a bunch of mods, then installed requiem, ignoring all those patches from the previous mods that were required and forgot to put them in, that kind of thing.

make sure you make your patches also:
tes5merged patch
bashed patch

most people ignore the tes5merged patch, don't do that, be smart and make it.
