They actually don't. Ian has said Sega is fine with them using material from Chronicles including the echidnas, it's Penders keeping him from doing so. If it wasn't Penders you'd have Shade, Ix and a bunch of other Nocturnus echidnas running around.

If such a mandate exists, it's probably limited to Knuckles being the last of his tribe to avoid the dozens of bullshit relatives and super secret societies, not the last echidna.

I feel like Shade would be amusing to see in the comic but I can't shake that she'd try to solve her problems with violence even more then Gemerl and Omega do. I wish Gemerl would stop jobbing I mean, he was outnumbered majorly but dammit, I want him to get a cool moment. Same for the acorns. The king may of knocked Bean on his ass but Bark just smashed him like nothing and Sally can barely hold her own in a fight. I'd put more trust in Tails and Cream then in them right now in a battle.

It's just a different way of design, I like the shields in S3&K they give you good movement with a air-dash bounce and 2nd jump. And the Insta-Shield is a good move. Also how is it better designed when you can fly over the whole stage with a cape feather

It means the game was designed well to allow a player good enough to not need them. Literally the same thing could be said for SMW. I've never NEEDED a power-up to beat the game. That's not a bad thing.

If anything, it can be seen as negative that you need certain items to get secrets in SMW but I wouldn't stretch it that far since they're not important to the core game.

S3&K and SMW are both series' best 2D games. I fucking love them both.

The anon that started that tee lopes posting spree just before mania was announced here and yeah, that weirded me out. I go through a lot of sonic remixes online and found tee lopes' channel and had to post it here. The first one didn't take but the data select screen reminded me of being in an elevator on the island of my dreams I think I said. And I HAD to post it. And that was the one everyone seemed to love so I kept posting.

Then literally a day or two later they announce that's the Mania composer I was pretty amused and weirded out. I wonder if it was like a youtube thing where because it was getting traction it was higher priority so it showed up in my feeds or something?

Anyone else expecting that new 3D sonic to just be him, his past self and just 1 Tails vs the two Eggmen with no other characters? I doubt since Eggman has himself to talk to the game will bother with Orbot and Cubot again and if they want to make it feel like a treat they could say the Eggmen killed all of Sonic's friends including modern Tails off screen or at least imply he turned them all into mindless robots off screen to up the anti. I think it depends. I don't know how much they'll follow what we saw in the trailer, but if they do it seems the new game might be quite big. Maybe there could be hubs, and in the hubs there could be several different characters or groups of them.

I hope P&G aren't getting their hands on this. Having someone else writting that knows his shit will probably mean better chances of more characters happening, at least as NPCs, as they could want to exploit that to improve the game. Characters are "needed" when they make the gameplay and/or story interesting. Having games with just Sonic and Eggman is boring even from a gameplay perspective. Extra characters freshens things up. Of course they can't even get Sonic right half the time but that's an issue with dev team competence, not the characters themselves.

As silly as Shadow's game was, it was actually a good decision to make a standalone Shadow game because it let them make a combat platformer without going against Sonic's established personality and abilities. They just botched the execution.

The lost world plot was standard flare until Amy died off screen, Tails was kidnapped and Eggman fucked off somewhere. It was pretty weird to see Sonic jumping into a fight with a deadly six member without doing any banter. I mean he straight up killed them all even after they dopped themselves up on planet energy and jumped him, Sonic won without being hurt and as soon as Tails was okay he switched back to his usual demeanor and even sent Eggman plummeting back to earth which if the game wasn't so slapstick all of a sudden, would of killed him. Lost world was a very weird game in terms of tone.

I like how this arc is shaping up, meanwhile on Sonic's side of things, they're getting fucked, the sky patrol has been shot down, Sonic's falling towards Lava, Nicole is being overclocked at match speed,Tails is getting more nightmare fuel from the Tails Doll, the gaia keys and emeralds have been stolen from the acorn kingdom thanks to a collaboration attack by hired guns, Team hooligan and doctor eggman's forces leaving the ruler of the kingdom and gizoid, Gemerl in bad shape.Oh, yeah, SIlver,Gold and Doctor Scratch and Sniff have been flung through time with no indication of where or when they'll end up. I kinda want Jet to ride in on his extreme gear and catch Sonic as last i checked the overgrown chicken in the pirate hate had some sort of score to settle with them. As for Silver and his team, who have yet to be given a name, I'm gonna assume they'll land in Blaze's nic of the woods as the plate's kinda stacked in Sonic's time at the moment, too bad Blaze' is the only helpful one in her world and like Silver she has no team unless Ian wants to give her somebody of his own like with Silver and his Gold waifu.
