I have read a bit of a very terrible one, probably written by an actual 14 year old, where Nardo sees Jiraiya perform the hand seals, and repeats them. Apparently doing it without a contract reverse-summons you to the realm of whomever is the best fit for you, he ends up with the Foxes. They offer right off the bat to teach him a whole load of bullshit for no reason, and that is where I dropped that fic.

Also Chuunin Exam Day, another notoriously terrible fic, insists the only explanation for the weird tech all over the Nardo world is that they are summoning them in from other worlds. The writer even has a small rant about it as I recall.

Yup, people have struggled with that in some stuff I've read. You can go the full OC route and try not to be too excited for having made up something nice (especially because if it's random, they are likely to be one time use ones), or with references and stuff lifted from other franchises like you said. But that is risky.

An example that comes to mind, which frankly I did not like all that much, is the turtle summons Nardo gets in Team 8. I like that fic very much, but the author went a bit too far with the reference for my liking.

The initial,successful summoning being a small and blue one that doesn't speak and uses a water jutsu on Naruto when he acts up is fine, fun even, but there's a turtle teacher/mentor figure from another franchise that seems like he might turn out to be a recurring character, about which I am really not sure.
And of course there's the Gamabunta-equivalent for the turtles, so far unseen, referred to as The Four which will turn out to be the Ninja Turtles and boy, is there potential for fucking up there. At least it's not A'Tuin, I suppose.

So yeah, there's potential for it to go wrong, even with an otherwise good/solid writer. I'm not saying it can't be done, but you do have to walk a tightrope of funny, original and interesting.

MITSUKI DLC WHEN?

So we're finally at the actual entrance to the area of the weapons cache, after fucking around with weaponry. Both Arata and Waniko wanted the iron claws, so I made them roll off for it to indicate a scuffle going down. Waniko won, so after what I can only assume was a semi-sexual wrestle, she pinned him down and took the claws off him. They caught about six hours sleep, and at midnight, Fugetsu managed to wake himself up, wake the others, and get ready for a night raid. It was around a five hour trek to the camp - thanks to a map they got from the nobles - so they got there around 5am, with the sun about half and hour from rising.

They're now formulating a plan, with Waniko rolling a 21 on her Perception check.

Kishimoto planned a long time ago to go with naruhina and sasusaku so that is the only reason he made them to go together and of course another reason is european fans everyone like pushed kishimoto to make that happen in Japan its important for them to get the respect from foreigners. I would respect naruhina and sasusaku if kishimoto would have made clear development with those pairings and their relationship... He made a big mistake making naruto ignore hinatas feelings and not doing enough moments for them and the same goes for sasusaku. Instead he made from the start clearly that naruto loves sakura and sakura was little by little forgetting her so called love/crush feelings for sasuke and started feeling something for naruto. Like i have said many times everyone who gets logic and has common sense would understand this... there has been many moments and sings that Sakura was starting to feel something for naruto and naruto never said that he didnt love sakura anymore if Kishimoto wanted to make it clear that Naruto doesnt love Sakura and loves hinata he should have it clear in manga. Kishimoto even said in an interview that: '' I decided quite a while ago to go with Hinata. There was a time when i was on the fence about going with Sakura, but after coming this far and just having Sakura switch over to loving Naruto would make her kind of a terrible woman.'' <--- And that is just horrible way of thinking. Hinata was there for naruto always and his first bond <-- what a bullshit and when they realized that they made a huge mistake making naruto love sakura all this time to the 1chapter to 699 chapter. They tried to fix everything by making Sakura say in the movie that '''Naruto didnt love sakura, he just tried to compete with sasuke because sakura liked sasuke and they were rivals. But if that was the case then wouldnt that be the same for sakura because she competed and was rivals with ino. So that would mean that Sakura didnt love or like sasuke actually at all. So, we begin where we left our intrepid heroes last week - at the makeshift armoury that the nobles put together for them. Since they are completely useless and didn't know how to select stuff, the grizzled veteran that was there gave them some advice. In short order, he tossed the chainmail to Arata, Renya snagged the naginata - not chakra-forged like Waniko's, just a normal one - Fugetsu picked up a katana, and Arata and Waniko got into that slightly sexual scuffle that - to my mind - ended with Waniko straddling Arata, punching him the face, saying "Give. Me. The. Iron. Claws", with every word being interspersed with a punch. No word as to whether Fugetsu and Renya were secretly praying if her clothes would come off. They're probably a bit young to care about that JUST yet.

Anyway, after all that, they decided to catch some shut-eye before making a night raid on the camp - the nobles were able to provide a rough map towards where the rebel camp, and by extension, likely the weapons cache, was located. It was about 6pm, and everyone agreed to wake up at midnight. As psuedo-team leader, and the laziest member of the group, I made Fugetsu roll to see if he woke up on time, or slept through. Luckily, he made the roll, woke his teammates up, and then put his Boil Release to use...boiling water for coffee that someone (likely the veteran) left on a table outside their rooms for them.

In short order, the four of them were under way. Following the map, it took them around five hours to reach the camp, so while the sun was just below the horizon, they estimated that they had approximately half an hour before the sun was up proper. Deciding that there's no such thing as being TOO sneaky, they went cautiously as they approached the camp.

Now, as they got closer, they realised the map had left out a detail - there was a large dugout section that preceded an entrance to a cave mouth. Staying behind some water tanks, they took stock of their situation. With two on lookout, I allowed two other players to actually focus on details, and roll Perception checks. As I said before, Waniko smashed hers and rolled a 21 (19+2). She found a gap in the water tanks and looked through - her prior training peeping on Fugetsu in the hot springs paid off here - and revealed a whole new area that, before then, I had kept hidden in the fog of war. Now, Binkbonk, Waniko's player, thought that the area I revealed was only shown to him, not realising that the rest of the group could see it as well. Waniko also noticed that the guards didn't seem like professionals, not really handling their weapons well and not fully covering their vision arcs.

After they started deliberating what to do, I gave them three minutes IRL to come up with a plan and path, based on what they could currently see. Due to the misunderstanding, Binkbonk outlined areas and pointed out enemies that the other players could already see. However, you bastards decreed that I be harsher on the players, so once the three minutes were up, the three minutes were up. No movement plan had been formed, and as such, they were spotted by a passing guard, who shouted a warning to his allies. Renya, deciding to forego any chit-chat this time, immediately rolled Initiative. Again, because I'm like, a quarter doing this for your enjoyment, I decided that there's no take-backs, and they lost any chance to talk their way out of it. Combat began, we have turns sorted, and that is where we left it.

Not every episode has to have a subdued palette, but episodes should have a palette that works. Look at Kakashi vs. Obito. Shit looks amazing because the animation is great and the color palette really works.
