OBJECTIVE (in my opinion) MONSTER HUNTER GAMES (that I've played )ULTIMATE TIER LIST

>GOD TIER:

3U. Arguably the best monster roster in the series due to being largely devoid of pre-Tri shit monsters and gen 3 having great monsters. Best weapon balance; not a single weapon in 3U is bad, and none are as braindead OP as stuff like 4U IG. Even gunlance isn't trash, especially underwater. Underwater is a mixed bag, but in my factual opinion, it's not so bad unless you're using bow or SnS.

>HIGH TIER

4U. Most content in the series. Attempt at a story may or may not be enjoyable. Vertical hunting is a bit less annoying than underwater hunting and doesn't fuck over some weapons like underwater did. Gen 4 monsters are mostly great, but it dropped all but a few gen 3 monsters in favor of bringing back a bunch of shitheads from gens 1 and 2. Weapon balance is a big step down, with four being head and shoulders above the rest while a few are condemned to uselessness. Also fuck the elder hall it's not cozy at all.

Portable 3rd. Has most of the good points of 3U and none of the water, but less content, and is largely too easy. Wins the awards for "best emulatable Monster Hunter" and "only post-Tri game to not have SIX RATHS."

>MID TIER

FU. Compared to future games (and we are comparing it to future games), very dated. Bad weapon balance, archaic movesets for both weapons and monsters, busted hitboxes, tons of gay shit, and not much in the way of quality of life. Had the most content until 4U came out. Holy god damn shit, Lao and Shen are the worst fights in the series by far. Still has most of the things that make Monster Hunter good so it's not a bad game.

How braindead easy it is in 4U is exactly why it's a meme weapon. All you do is just guard point and super burst from there. Same with Glaive in 4U. The more thoughtful approach they do in Gen to bring it down to earth makes them actually more versatile it feels since you're not just spamming overpowered moves the whole fight.

Just started using Hammer for a bunch of my hunts and it's no fucking wonder I never see any hammer users. Everytime I go for the head when the monster is down, literaly the entire team is on the fucking head too tripping me. I can make an exception for Greatsword but even fucking SnS users are going for the head and shit.

gen sounds pretty bad with people camping the head though, probably let those jp speed runs get to their dumb brains since speed clears have become so popular and people throw around ta wiki rankings like gospel
