All hardsuits (note: hardsuits, not softsuits) have a default melee resistance of 40. Right now you can upgrade only the mining hardsuit's melee resistance by 10 by adding in goliath plates, with the max resistance you can get being 90 (at this point, it's spaceproof riot armor with less slowdown)

however, to do that you also need 5 plates to max out one part. you can upgrade both the helm and hardsuit so to max yourself out, you need a whooping 10 goliath plates
