I joined a few random groups today just to farm Chameleos, Teostra and Snowbaron materials. Aerial LBG, Adept Bow, Aerial Lance, Aerial DB, Aerial SnS, Striker GS, Striker LS, Adept LS, Guild Switch Axe, Aerial GS, Aerial Switch Axe, Blood Wind spamming Dual Blade holy fuck stop tripping everyone

So I just did all the key level 5 star village quests, then the main town guy had a red box above him, and I just smashed through it and now I'm not level 6 and theres no urgent or other red box people to talk to...


How do I get to star level 6 on village?

Anyone else having issues with the online? In 4U I had absolutely no trouble playing online but in generations I get some 003 error 90% of the time I try to play online and it's always once the quest starts. I haven't changed routers or setting or anything since last I played 4U.

Do adept dodges just not work when rolling away from the monster, or am I just consistently messing up the timing? I thought it'd be a great way to keep up with the monster charges, but 5 first aids and two mega pots later, I'm starting to doubt my plan.

What gender are cats? On prowler mode on the file select screen, the gender only shows "-". What does it mean?

How does one into any Adept style weapon besides Hammer? The dash in is completely useless since your ability to aim is pretty much zero, and even if you do manage to somehow dash in range of the monster, it leaps out of the way before you can get out your adept attack.

His ground attack isn't the issue. It's the fact that if you get bleed it's hard as fuck to cure because the crab is on your ass in a second.
More than once do I get pushed into a wall and can't get out because the bleed will kill me. Honestly I feel like I'm more fighting with the area than the actual monster.

And i fucking suck dick at HBG.

Any tips for solo HBGing? Is it sometimes better to not to into crouching fire to fire your courching fire shots and shoot them normally instead? Or do you just want to switch to other ammo and only use that crouching fire ammo when you can go into crouching fire?

use crouch whenever your cats get off a sleep, or if you trap, or if the monster trips over it's balls and gives you enough time

make sure you're canceling your reload animation with the gunpowder art, saves a lot of time. Also works with the reload animation from the adept dodge

RULE #1:

Mizutsune is a massive offender, as it shoots red bubbles of attack up and you can adept em' for MORE DAMAGE after you bump a red bubble for the bonus.

Reload cancelling, as someone has probably mentioned by now, is awesome.

As for your Crouching Fire, it's situational. Take advantage of big derpy attacks to really lay in the heat. Khezu does the shock bubble? LAY ON THE SIEGE FIRE. Duramboros holy shit he's actually in this falls over? SHOOT THEM HUMPS.

if you dodge an attack, if you know the monster you should be able to anticipate where they'll move after you dodge it, i.e. how Zinogre turns around after his jump slam

Mizutsune's red soap-bubble gives you attack up.

Furthermore, ANY BUBBLE when collided ONCE gives you Constitution and Evade+1 while mildly soaped.

If you run into a bubble while mildly soaped, THEN you lose control and slip and slide and can't attack.

Mizu just KILLS ITSELF.

Best style for all 3 ranged weapons is Adept. The don't lose anything significant and their supers aren't stellar besides the buffing ones.
LBG and HBG don't have to always use the sights, if you have your shot lined up already or you can tell the gun is in the right position just fire away, takes a bit of getting used to though.
Bow has little reason not to go into aiming mode just before taking a shot.

For HBG you want to focus on raw so just get guns that can load a good amount of Normal 2 or Pierce 2/3 depending on your needs and don't have shit raw.

monster dependent really, if the head is hanging low enough for a hipshot or if there's a weakspot down there (unlikely), you'll want to manually aim. Remember that your R orientation actually stays there if you zoom out until you move

A lot of people that i played mh4u with, are saying mhgen is shit. when i ask them why, they say it's because the shitty nostalgia factor.


What does this even mean? Mhgen is basically a better version of mh4u. I play this game since freedom, and i always enjoy the last title more than his predecessor with no exception. And is probably the only IP that give this feel to me. And since they are implementing new stuff, I can't see how the nostalgia factor should be bad.

Striker if not Siege. Since you'll be standing up and attacking, more often than not.

Adept if Siege. You can LITERALLY BAIL OUT of Siege Mode with an Adept Dodge, rewarding you with bonus damage and a roadie run if you really need to bail the fuck outta there.

I use Adept on principle of rolling through projectiles regardless, and is my vote.

Precision matters. If you know you can hit the spot without aiming or with the free aim, go for it. Those heads aren't going to shoot themselves, though! I basically play Time Crisis with fucking HBG, and the results are good. That however - is up to you.

the hunter arts really change the game, some might say it makes the game easier, but imho it makes hunts alot more dynamic and fun.

Does MHGen get harder down the line? My friend and I (we are playing through hub co-op with just us two) demolished high rank Hermitaur in under 3 minutes with low rank gear first attempt, it feels like hunts are now 5-10 minutes instead of 15-20.

It's a fun game, but part of the nostalgia-driven issues come from the fact they don't fix the original flaws of the areas they wanted to bring back. You can even still fight a monster in Forest and Hills 9 where the camera is atrocious.

Only Snowy Mountains really got an improvement because of the improved climbing. Swamp came back and has all the issues it had before. It's still the one map that causes the biggest problem with monsters sitting in the loading zone, because one zone has monsters run a mile past the end of the zone. The only good thing about it coming back is that we don't have Gravios here to do it again

I just dislike how restrictive endgame armor is and the lack of relic armor that made fashion armorsets usable. I also feel Hyper monsters are more poorly done than apex. I'd take consistent bouncing over randomized attack speeds any day.

It's not shit, but it's what Smash is to competitive fighting games. Not one of them, just has elements of it and is aiming at a more casual audience as the core demographic while keeping some shit for older fans as fanservice game.

Don't take it too seriously and you'll have fun. If you go in expecting the MonHun experience instead of a party version of it, you'll be disappointed.

For me personally 4U immersed me more when it came to the story, village and caravan.

There is no "own" story here, MHGen is pretty much tons of nostalgia crammed next to each other with all the old characters, villages and lots of areas reappearing.

Doesn't mean it's a bad game, it personally just took me 40h to get really immersed in it since I didn't really discover anything new and interesting.

The gameplay is great and I really like the better textures, though I'm a bit worried where the whole hunter arts may lead us.

So far I can't really say if it's better than 4U, but I'm enjoying my time and got 200h to look forward too.

Jhen Mohran was incredibly fun, especially since there was that event quest that showed up periodically available to every HR and me and my friends would attempt it in our shitty LR gear and fail whenever it came up. Made taking it down that much more satisfying.
Lagi and Ludroth were plenty fun outside of Flooded Forest Lagi. Lagi is to this day one of my favorites.
Ceadeus wasn't super fun but the fight was very intense the first few times.

The entire point of Ceadeus phase 1 is to break his beard, he moves at a snails pace the entire time, and as soon as you break his beard, he gets a MASSIVE speed boost straight to the main arena so you can fight him proper.

Gobul gains one attack combo in the water and nothing else, it even loses its tail gimmick in the water. So all that comes from the underwater fight is you dealing with the water itself.
Ceadeus was the most boring fight since Lao, now with a reduced movement speed unless you wore Lagiacrus against it for the swimming speed
Jhen Mohran wasn't even a water fight, it had no ability to be a threat, that's something they had to give to Hallowed Jhen in 3U because Jhen had no way to actually being a problem other than simple health bloat in the High Rank event

There was not a single thing about those fights that was good. Especially Ceadeus who took until 3U and Goldbeard's addition to even try to actively attack you. And even Goldbeard only did it when he wanted to use a laser either from the top of bottom. Ceadeus swims over your head and looks at the rocks more than it even looks at you

There is no actual difference between enjoying Jhen Mohran and enjoying Lao because neither is going to do anything to you directly. That's not being tryhard, it's enjoying an actual fight. Why is it called a fight if the big bad Elder Dragon doesn't actually fight back? It took until 3U's G-rank Jhen for the regular to try to hit you with a sand cannon, and it took until Hallowed Jhen for it to have a little deviation in the script.

Yes, the only good fights are ones that actually involve a fight. Not something that nudges a ship every now and then in phase one, or swings at the air in phase 2 and body slams nothing.
