For multi stage part breaks like Tetsu tusks and Daimyo Hermitaur claws, after breaking the left part do you really have to aim for the right part or is there just one "hp bar" for both claws/tusks and they'll break when enough damage is done to either of them?

Tetsu's tusks shatter as long as you're hitting his general face area.
Dunno about Hermitaur, but generally if a part can be broken more than once, hitting it in the same spot over and over should work just fine.

GS is too easy so I'm doing HH again to collect all the sounds. Wasn't expecting the Bullfango one to make sweet crunchy riffs.

What are the key quests for HR5? Kiranico only lists 3, which I know is bullshit.

Striker's good since it grants you all three arts, slightly increased damage and improved recharge time making Energy Charge come up even quicker than it already does. You just lose the roundhouse finisher and double slash, but they're small losses considering. Trance Slash is a great art if you can get the whole combo to connect.

Part trading should return. I kinda get why it didn't, but at the same time it's odd that certain sets are completely unobtainable in an anniversary title when said sets include Diablos. Hell, the Trader function, which acts as the farm, is essentially just a cat doing the Wycoon's job anyway. Just without part trading

Trying to understand cat skills. Big Boomerangs supposedly requires me to slay or capture a Gendrome and Emergency Retreat a Cephadrome; do I need to accomplish this as a Prowler who has the potential to use the skill, or can I simply use my hunter and bring along palicoes to unlock the skill?

there are offline prowler quests that expand your farm. i recommend you do them at least, even if you rush the village keys. iirc, the quests are all from Neko, so they're not hard to find.

I've been a huge fan of the games since MHFU on PSP. I clock on average 200 hours into each game, with that being generally higher for the console games. So as you can imagine, I was happy that MHGen was coming to the states.

The problem is that I'm just not having fun with it. I can't really figure it out because I played a ton of 4U. There's just something about Gen that's not fun to me and I wish I could get past it.

Yeah it might just be that. It just doesn't feel as grandiose as the past games I guess. The QoL improvements are fantastic, such as gathering speed.

To pinpoint a few things that I don't like, it feels very same-y to 4U. I kind of feel like I'm just restarting 4U, but I won't have G rank to look forward to.

Too much is available from the get go. There are so many 1* guild quests and I don't really feel like I'm building up to fight big monsters because I can just hop over to the guild and fight a ton of them. Additionally, I shouldn't be able to dye my armor until HR. I dunno, it just feels like the progression is missing.

G rank isnt something to look forward to. If you havent noticed yet, whenever a mon hun game has a g rank, the low rank and high rank become absolutly useless filler with hardly any difficulty jump. And in the case of 4u, it plauged the game with horrible skill distribution issues, aka making handicraft or honed blade mandatory skills, effectivly killing the end game. Gen is a shit ton better than 4u. Much better balance and pacing, much better monster selection, and most of all no fucking handicraft on every god damned peice of armor
