Blizzard has been a terrible company for years now, but they regularly make games that fill niches.
People wanted a casual moba so they could feel like they're a part of that big LoL craze without actually learning even the most basic of game mechanics.
We got HotS.

The only digital card games out there were either MtG or trying hard to be Magic, so they scared away a lot of casuals.
And then Hearthstone.

TF2 has been dying, to the point that only a small percentage of its previously huge player base keep it alive.
Overwatch is to make up for the lack of TF3, and to make the games fast enough and without any real commitment (outside of the tacked on competitive mode which was clearly not supposed to be a main feature this early on) to ensure it grabs the casuals who thought TF2 was too hard to learn everything.

Dva isn't scary at all in her current state unless she's chasing after someone who's completely unaware of her presence and close to dead. At least the PTR buffs make her much better at absorbing damage and hiding her giant critbox more often

Every time you hit a headshot you get a huge shot of dopamine, and it gets exponential when you pop-off and bring down 3 or 4 enemies in 5 or 6 arrows.

The wallriding mechanic and speed boost makes him so damn fun. You can be such an aggressive little shit and get away with it. Feels great contributing so much to the team. Shotcalling with him is the best though, when I can get my team to stack up at a chokepoint, speedboost them to the point and LETS BREAK IT DOWN I am euphoric.

Being a shield is a bit drab, and it really relies on your teammates, but there's so much more to Reinhard than the shield. To charge into the enemy, and crush them against a wall, then set up a teamkill with Earthshatter is beyond fun.

i have to go on a bit of a rant because I think a lot of people are straight up DOGSHIT with mercy and don't know it.


In my experience at rank 64:

no mercies track enemy ults

mercies hardly ever call for people to sac/go die and they never track/ask for ally respawn timers

mercies walk in front of their heal target all the time for no reason

mercies are HORRIBLE at utilizing damage boost

mercies oft look wherever their healing target is looking, which is a complete waste of a set of eyes on the team that DOESN'T NEED TO LOOK AT THE ENEMY TEAM TO CONTRIBUTE UNLIKE LITERALLY EVERY OTHER CHARACTER IN THE GAME THAT SHOOTS

mercies do the most obvious hiding in the world and try to get off the greediest rezs when all it takes is one person on the enemy team to say 'oh we don't see their mercy on volskaya last, she's obviously hiding', then getting caught out with no one to jump to
unless you're shooting at something, you should be looking around you at all times. like you should have seen everything in a 360 radius around you at least every 1.5 seconds. you should be spinning like a top, looking where your team can't

And by far the number one biggest offender that i see mercies make all the time is terrible decision making in fights. the number of times i've seen a mercy with full ult pocketing a tank on last pushes makes me sick to my stomach.

At rank 64 I have only ever seen one mercy on my team where I thought to myself 'oh wow they're playing well', and that was literally just because they healed our dps in fights over others

comparing pro mercy play to pub mercies shows just how bad pub mercies are, and not even for reasons that rely on communication, just by looking at where they stand and who they prioritize heals on is a night and day difference

ok end rant, but seriously so many people don't know how bad they are at mercy, they just see themselves getting shiny medals and potgs and think they're good

I played with three(THREE) of my buds from work who are all basically rank 30-35. I got brought down like hell and witnessed some things I didn't think possible.
A bastion was wrecking our shit (see: my team's shit, I was observing) on the last point of King's Row and instead of one person going pharah, someone in our team chat said "two people go genji and make bastion kill himself"
So I press tab and we have four genjis.

Hm. I think it's because skill rank for support is broken. Those Mercys you're complaining about have high ranks because they played with people who won despite their mediocre performance.

Personally, I prefer to play support characters, but I've learned not to do it in anything less than full groups. About one in five games I end up with something like gold for 3 eliminations as Mercy. Maybe I should ask someone to swap if I notice no one on my team can aim? Maybe I shouldn't have to.
