Corrosive's claim to fame is that the status effect can stack, and completely remove armor if it procs enough, thus it's really good on weapons with a high rate of fire.

Alone, a single Corrosive proc isn't very good, and so Viral would be better on weapons with small magazines/low RoF, such as bows, shotguns, and sniper rifles.

corrosive projection aura is popular because 4 of them removes 120% armor aka strips it all
in almost all cases except premades this won't be reality

grineer units are armored and eventually get like 5+ times the effective health compared to other factions die to the armor
since they are considered "Ferrite Armored" corrosive damage will deal massive bonus damage to them, like fire does to infested

but if you use 4x CP aura or strip all armor otherwise, they are no longer considered "Ferrite Armored" and instead are "Cloned Flesh" which is weak to Viral instead
in addition they lose the damage reduction their armor provides making them squishy as fuck (like the other factions)

since highly armored grineer are the toughest enemies to kill in the game, everyone uses corrosive damage to get +75% damage to them (other faction's units are squishy anyway so they die even if they aren't weak to corrosive)
if you know you will remove all armor, you mod for viral instead

Lunaro update literally had no significant change in player base.

The important part of SotR's update isn't the increase in players but the sharp decrease in players directly afterwards. You expect a large surge in player base during big updates, but the important thing is nobody stayed around for SotR because it was shit. Player retention is at an all-time low. A week after SotR launched, the # of players is pretty much the same as before even the first part of U19 launched, which is incredibly disheartening.

I want DE to make an update so bad it effectively kills warframe. I've lost all hope they can do better, and I've lost all reason to believe DE cares about anything except what isn't immediately censored on the forums.

I've a founder, I loved the idea behind this game and I loved all the fun I had with it, but DE can't be responsible with it. I hope they go back to making shitty multiplayer portions of better IPs again. They can't be trusted to make anything that doesn't turn out this way. It doesn't matter how many wonderful artists and art assets they have, their design philosophy and coding is utter garbage and actively aggressive towards the player(bug that makes void sabos impossible to finish? sticks around for months. -do quests progress on starchart? nope, bugged to all fuck
-build new shit? nope, credit starvation and insane requirements like 9k oxium being rampart takes the wind out of any effort. add the need for slots, hence the requirement to max out before selling which has been made obnoxious (see below) to it, and literaly any mundane chore around the house seems more inviting than this.
-level or forma new shit? nope, XP gain is FUCKED and the only reliable source where you could do it in a reasonable ammount of time is removed. Also reason to forma in general is gone as most weapon 1shots shit in DEAC with only a potato, and now there is no reason to visit postDEAC.
-do snydicate missions, grind rep? nope, only a few quick missions were already barely worth it and now the reward is slashed to 1/3, and one of the fastest gamemode is removed, and giding out the daily cap has been made orders of magnitude longer thanks to the removal of easy XP spots/methods.
-grind for plat? nope, first of, you cant grind for it effectively anymore, and noone wants to buy anything since they can just get it themselfs.
-grind for prime shit you want? nope, you can no longer dictate which missions/droptables you go for: you are at the mercy of which relic drops to you, over which you have zero control, and collecing them takes ordres of magnitude longer than waiting for akey to leech from recruit. (unless you scam relichsares )
-since i cant come up with any other longterm goals, um.. play missions on the starchart for fun? nope, teh only fun thing is getting rewarded, and they prettymuch removed that, and the gameplay in general has been made not fun: slow and clunky movement, pushover meatgrinder enemies with a couple instakiller or perma CC thrown in, no strategy as most of the time you cant even use your warframes abilites, or you can and CC or instakill anyone before they can pose any threat.
