It was retarded that you could just spend gold to make a tanks strengths (Good armor) go away when the tank is already balanced around those strengths by sacrificing mobility and sight range. I will give Gaijin the fact that at least the metal work on their tanks looks at lot less plastic than WG's models, but otherwise WoTs tank models are better through and through. Take a look through the Russian tank models in War Thunder some time. Off the top of my head, I remember the T-34s and KV series tanks (basically all the early tanks in ground forces) looked pretty shit the last time I saw them.

WoT is fun, but don't try to grind up to the high tiers. Use the YOGSCAST (EU) or WOTREDDIT (NA) code to get a free premium and then get yourself a Chaffee or T67 and just be happy with that. The game gets really cancerous starting at tier 7/8, and it only gets worse from there up.

They aren't adding more premium artillery because they already have one blatantly overpowered legacy artillery (the Lefh) that they feel like they can't nerf any more without people asking for their money back. Maybe if they successfully balance artillery in a way that the playerbase accepts, they could add more premium artillery, but fat chance of that considering the basic idea behind artillery is retarded, and that basic idea becomes even more retarded when you add mods into the picture.

They're intentionally limiting your ability to play that class, and for good fucking reason. Either play the shitty low tier artillery, or deal with the fact that you have to pay up in order to fund your overpowered one shot clickers. If they let you ruin other people's games without ever playing real tanks and without paying for premium time, then their business model would fall apart because all the people spamming high tier artillery would cause the rest of their playerbase to quit.

It's literally how you counter artillery. You get in artillery cover. Do you know how many artillery cover spots there are on each map? I can tell you that there is exactly one viable position that a medium can use on El Halluf that is in arty cover, and every other light/medium tank on the team who can't get into that arty safe spot is forced to either play super passively or wait until that one arty safe spot is free to use.

On Campinovka, it's the same story. The only useful arty safe position is behind the windmill on the very top of the hill. And on Prokhorovka, there are zero arty safe positions. The cancer forces players to camp on so many maps it's disgusting.

It's one thing to complain about people capping in a one-sided game, but it's just as common for bad pub teams to lose because they thought they could kill a bunch of IS-3s with some shitty medium tanks. I can research either the chinese heavy line or the chinese medium line on the Type 58 right now. Not sure which one to go for though. I don't play the chinese lights and I have the russian heavies up to T-10 and ST-I and the russian mediums up to T-44. I don't think I can deal with the lack of gun depression on a medium though.

Chink heavies are actually a good, and with the upcoming 113 buff, relevant line. Chink mediums are just straight up worse than the bias meds, except for the tier 7. Also researching the 113 gives you the top tier 9 medium gun (59k XP) for free if you really want to try them later.
