What if Torb had an upgrade meter that went from 0 to 250?

So if you whack your turret and heal it for 3, the remaining 47 goes to the upgrade meter.

As it is right now Torb can't get a turret off if something as pitiful as D.Va is spamming at it from afar. If the turret is missing 1 HP you need to use a whole whack to heal it then another to get some upgrade meter.

I was thinking about giving his roll full invincibility as a buff, dark souls style. This would be a powerful tool with fairly high skill ceiling since roll is pretty fast as is, timing + prediction would be required to pull off lifesaving rolls. Just think about it. Blizzard really fucked up with Junkrats design.

Limiting him to just pipe bombs and a couple of skills that anyone with a brain can avoid was retarded. He has no way to trap or control areas. His somewhat low HP means he can't fight anyone at any range, his only use is to pump pipe bombs into an area at an angle and they don't have enough of an explosion radius to be useful even for that.

Why pick him when you could pick anyone else and get much more consistent damage and some utility out?

That doesn't change the fact that he's still bad at it. People are going to be moving around a lot and if you don't get that direct hit you do no damage. Otherwise, his trap is easily avoidable for anyone who bothers to pay attention and it's often not that useful in the first place because so many heroes have ways out of it or to avoid damage in it. His ult is a joke for anyone who pays any attention at all and it's gonna get worse now that McCree is getting buffed. Mine is useful, but it doesn't make up for the trash that is the rest of his kit.

There's a reason absolutely no one plays him at a high level. He's just bad.

I love playing him, but fuck me if he isn't garbage. As soon as your turret dies, the game is just over, even if you try to dump one down and then smack it together with Molten Core, the enemy team will usually kill it. Though you do become nigh unkillable with Core on, you still hit like a wet noodle if you're not headshotting in melee. His only saving grace is that he's decent for dealing with Tracer and Genji. If his turret became active or upgradeable faster, he'd be much more useful

Everyones an easy target for pharah except maybe tracer.

The benefit of torbs turret is being able to leave it unattended. You dont need to babysit it like you would in tf2. You can covers its flanks and vice versa. Torbs gun does enoigh damage that you can contest most characters and have the turret finish them off.

Yes if his turret is killed he takes a huge chunk off his usefullness. But if you place it properly and assuming your team is distracting or finishig the team fight, you can rebuild it pretty quickly.

I would say even being able to supply armor keeps torb as a great pick, especially on choke points after a clear. Near end game you usually can overatock on armor anyway.

Hes obviously not the best character in the game but i dont think hes bottom 3 at all. Id reserve that more to mei, mccree, and zen currently.

Part of the Stream the dev's did with Ster earlier today. I think they were talking about how MCcree's headshot damage was on a 30x multiplier though and with the increased range he was essentially able to snipe.

However in this small part of the stream, I think they were focussed on the actual damage multiplier for MCcree's headshots, rather than his base damage or attack falloff.

Genji just cornerpeeks your turret to death and Tracer is never in any real danger of dying to your turret (it takes 3 seconds of continued damage for your turret to kill tracer). And if she gets even remotely close to you you'll be amazed at just how insanely fast you die due to Torb's gigantic critbox.

This is only assuming the enemy team is dumb enough to not have somebody else just tank your turret. Zarya the squishiest tank can tank your turret for more than 10 seconds and get charge for her troubles.

Honestly his turret is not threatening at all.

Debatable. In all instances, Pharah needs to expose herself (even if only for a split second) in order to do so; Junkrat can fire around corners and do other indirect tricks.

Damage wise, yes, and if that's your only metric then I can see where you're coming from. However, Junkrat's tire differs in several key points that make it valuable in its own right:

1. Indirect fire. Given proper concealment, Junkrat can fire off his tire and not be in danger from enemy fire, while Pharah is incredibly exposed for several seconds
2. Longevity. Pharah's ult can be canceled, while Junkrat's tire keeps going even if Junkrat himself dies until it either detonates or is killed
3. Utility. This ties into the indirect fire, but Junkrat's tire can climb and scout if you need it to, rather than just being a mobile bomb. This also allows for unexpected angles of attack or insights into what an enemy formation looks like. Pharah's is just pure rocket spam.

Both Pharah and Junkrat have their own niches, and the game would be poorer without them. They are both fine heroes.
