Read some forum posts on how to add items. It's easier to add OSP items rather than steal them since you have the Resources and Textures already in order, and a lot of OSP packs come with item entries already written up. See if you can add this pack to the game by following the instructions:

So i've been playing the Gekokujonewer mod(first time with a mod in this time period too) and i have a question: Are all Ashigaru balanced? i mean, it's not like in native where you have the Rhodoks being the best with crossbows, nords having the best meless and stuff? It's hurting my brain

Well mounting the meshes onto the bone didn't work. I don't get it.

You don't even need to adjust the item amount if you go crazy and paste in a tonne of new items. Open up Morgh's it will give you a window saying something like "Item count is 321 but there are 352 items. Morgh's will correct this when you save the file."

No I wouldn't reccomend that. While M&B will only load .brf files used by module.ini and .dds files used by .brfs I wouldn't "comprehend just dumping everything in". Even if you don't overwrite anything you may end up putting in something that replaces what is used from native, like fonts or Uis. PIC RELATED.

Again I wouldn't recommend doing "everything. Just the stuff you WANT.
Also don't expect for that item to be correct. I've stolen a lot of stuff that had stats/flags that made no sense at all. CHECK YOUR WORK.

I don't remember exactly how it works in 1257, but I think you just sell the standards you capture at marketplaces? In L'Aigle it's similar but you have to bring standards to a military depot and exchange them for money and sometimes a promotion.

Now I don't get my ass kicked by novice fighters but I'm still getting it kicked fairly regularly. The AI is simply too good at blocking, especially at normal and veteran level. Feels like I can only land a hit when I kick them first.

I wish I knew "vanilla values" for this shit so I could tweak it from there. Shit I wish I knew if "kick range" actually increased or decrease the chance of a kick, if it does that at all.

The guy having trouble with large battles a few days ago might also try brainybots, since it makes the ai behaves in batches, helping with big battles.
I recommend anyone changing it from the default 5 though, I just now realized that's the reason why sometimes in the arena the fuckers would start ignoring each other and started ganging up on you or other AI without trying to fuck with each other. The AI in arenas should really be excluded from this.

I just hope that increasing it won't make them more likely to form bigger gangs instead of being a threshold to when they form gangs.

Well setting batches to 10 did stop the AI gangs from forming up in the arena, though I hope it doesn't fuck up with the battle AI too much.

Setting kick chance to 0 pretty much stopped the AI from every kicking, so I assume 1 is the minimum. I don't know what adverse effects setting weapon proficiency range to 0 as minimum had, but the AI was still pretty fucking brutal when blocking. More than the last time, so I assume the minimum bigger is better. Like if an actor has a 100 skill then the blocking changes start happening, lower than that it's vanilla. I hope it works like that.

The module changes are working too, loading times are pretty good. Wonder if I can disable the fucking intro video in modules.ini too.

I was killed by champions, 6 remaining before I defeated everyone.
I played around with values and my conclusions are the following:
Value of 0 for kicking disables it entirely.
Weapon proficiency range doesn't seem to have a noticeable effect. If it's from 0 to 600 or 500 to 600, I didn't notice changes.
BUT
Block chance actually affects the speed the AI moves. 60 to 80 is faster than vanilla, I played with 30 to 75 and it was generally slower than vanilla. So I imagine weapon proficiency actually affects how fast the AI swings their weapons because I swear to god I'm pretty sure they are swinging faster on default settings.
I wish I knew the block chance value to make vanilla-level the base.

I'm pretty sure Combat AI improves weapon selection somehow. With Poor they behave vanilla but when I changed it to normal the motherfuckers that throw weapons in the arena started changed their weapons to staff when I came close, which NEVER happened in vanilla.
Problem is, picking up the staff is a bad idea considering I'm running towards you read to hit you.

Anyway, I think brainy bots better melee combat works by changing how fast the ai acts. I'm fairly sure batch number is also how big the AI makes a gang - with 1 being 2 actors. The problem with this feature is it fucks the player during arena/tournaments as the AI will gang on you until you die. So I'd recommend disabling it before going to do these things.


The difficulty of the mod seem to come from the ridiculous high block chances. Default settings mean the AI is a jedi knight while you are C3-PO trying to hit them.
I don't think weapon proficiency or how good they are at blocking, I think it's a random chance given to each actor. I got novice fighters blocking as good as champions.

Then again, my char is not the best for this and the AI still suffers from some pretty glaring problems. Like when you charge at them with your weapon in one position, they come at you with their weapon ready to defend that attack, then they cancel their block to attack you and one-hit them.
Anyway, I think I found some settings I'm comfortable with. I just wish there was some fucking documentation goddamn why the faggot had to chimp out and delete the talewords thread for this shit, now I need to guess what everything does. Could at least include a fucking manual or readme.

Sometimes I don't get the pricing in geko, wish the modder was more through with this. I saw, several times, armor that gives more defense but it's cheaper than some other armor that gives less defense because former is "crude" armor while the later is lordly or some shit like that. Anyway, the batch feature is great for big battles. AI forms gangs up to a certain number and they act like a block. That means that a battle involving 200 actors would technically only have the calculations of 20 actors (routing not included, dunno if the mod changes that, though no one ever routes unless they are the last 5 faggots full of arrows stuck in them).
Problem with that is that behavior becomes noticeable unrealistic (imagine gangs of 10 of actors forming mini-battlefields in the battlefield while they go swinging at each other) and favors ranged units (as there's a range for the batch effect) and small forces. I think I will leave it at 2, gangs of 2-3 actors should be enough to alleviate the impact of 300 actors battles without being too obvious what the AI is doing.

no it was just to make damage modifiers (ie Heavy, Tempered, etc) actually increase the damage the ammo gives
normally if you put those on it'll show up on the UI as extra damage (so normal arrows in native are +1, with tempered it'd say +5) but it wouldn't do anything, with the module.ini change it'll add the extra damage

As a modder I don't agree with paid mods myself, but if a group wants to take something they made and take it from "amateur" standard to "game dev" standard then more power to them. That's how Counter Strike was born anyway. The problem is when you sell something and call it a mod, because it implies it's amateur work and you don't need to support it. When you sell something as DLC, it comes with implied responsibility of making it work, fixing it, hearing the customers, etc.

funny thing: the first iteration of WFAS didn't even have all of the engine changes, taleworlds added them after the first release since there was a ton of complaining about how bare-bones the mod was

I was reading about how the Lord of the Rings movies where WETA Digital made a program called MASSIVE that could simulate thousands of individual ais in one battle. They had a problem with ais fleeing. This was not a huge place at the time either, it was bigger than Taleworlds though. Maybe they had better hardware but I doubt it compared to now.

What I did so far:

I'm getting all kinds of funky errors both in game and when running the build_module.bat, among other the .bat tells me that the global name 'GameMenuOptionWrapper' and 'FindDialouge' are not defined

Some old forum thread told me to fuck around with the version number (I'm not sure to what exactly I was supposed to change it to) in the merger options, but that didn't do anything whatsoever

Swedish Mayo is the only mod I've seen where you can use siege towers and ladders at the same time. The naval sieges in Viking Conquest are also pretty neat. The gate sieges in Geko are nice since there's no shitty 'waiting in line for your turn up the ladder' part/

Warwolf has some cool sieges as well but it has the same flaws as Gekokujo. Watching walls blow up and infiltrating castles is pretty neat though.

I think TLD has the best sieges, although I haven't played Swedish Mayonnaise yet. Multiple entry points in many maps, no chokepoints like in native where you're hit from all directions when you get off the ladder. There's also a lot of map variety which is always good. If you could just start sieges by yourself without waiting for the dumbass AI to do it, it would be a perfect mod.

Is there a way to replace all the items in one mod with those from another?
For example, if I wanted to take all the items from Floris and put them into Native Warband instead of the items that are there, how would I go about doing that?

I know how to import single items and add them to the items that are already there, but I don't know how to full on import all the shit and, more importantly, how to take care that all the troops wear the correct armor
E.g. the Swadian Knight should wear the same armor in the new Native as he did in Floris

Open up the Item_Kinds1.txt from native and the Item_kinds1.txt from floris and copy Sword New over Sword Old.

For the .brf you just need to put it in the module folder since it will load those resources before the common ones. i think Comment out the old duplicates if you want to be safe.

No it shouldn't be that long.

I still need to round off the yokai troops before I even start making Oni troops. I just got distracted to see if I could make them a playable race. Who would want to play an Oni though which was a surprising success.

Then I have to try Kappa. Which maybe I will do now while all the skins.txt stuff is fresh in my head. I'd consider trying to add some kind of slutty demon like a kitsune or something too but I don't have the assets. People only seem to be interesting in making slutty elves.

I wouldn't be adverse to changing them to something more fitting for GekoNewer but a) I have no idea what that would be b) there are probably scripts, strings, menus and other stuff that use their name. If they are references then I ~think~ they would work fine but if they just have "grat lord whoever" in them then It would be a bitch to change all those.

problems are the animation is from NW and it's normally a thrust so it may confuse people, the mesh kinda flips around on rare occasion, and it uses the swing damage value
and it replaces the right swing for blunt attacks with spears but only the left one is really useful anyway
