Any of you know how to remove excess glue spillage?

Any of you working on any model?
>>
>>148343391
Use fine grit sandpaper to remove excess glue.
>>
>>148343319
Kinematic performance aside, the F-35 is significantly less stealthy than the F-22, and both sides have LPI radars.

This means that if both sides use their radar, the F-22 will be able to target and attack the F-35 first.
>>
Reminder that the F-22 production was halted in part because of the Growler.

Would 150 grit be good enough?

The existence of infinity puts me off the entire series after 6 to be honest.

I still like AHL but infinity leaves a horrible taste in my mouth.
>>

Sure, maybe in a 1v1. But in a realistic environment, the ability to synthesize readings from multiple radars on different craft is a pretty big edge

Since my PS3 is out of commission right now, I'd like to ask for help from one of you kind anons. Long story short, I'm making a tool for Infinity, and I need help making sure I have all the gifs for the Sp.Weapons. I'll be posting the ones I have, the file name telling what weapon they correspond to. If I'm missing any, or one of them applies to multiple weapons, please tell me.

>>148349271
I disagree, but your reasons are understandable. Although the real life setting of Joint Assault was fine, Assault Horizon really sullied it. I don't mind the way they are doing it, though, since it lets them vary and change some things to the location. e.g. Avalon Dam having 2 tunnels instead of 1, Stonehenge being much more involved, the AssHorizon locations having much more color. Besides, with the Ulysses meteor strike and gameplay, this might as well be Strangereal in everything but name, shape, and history pre-1994.

I dunno, I feel like that - intentionally or not - helps the thing.

Like you can look at the Belkan war as "oh no, Belka are being so mean" but if you actually look into some of the preceding events instead of taking the most surface-level approach, it's not like Osea isn't being a total bastard too. Many of the surrounding areas were asking for it. Ustio is one of the few that's actually just an innocent area seeking self-determination.

One thing I really appreciated from Zero was the fact that there was the possibility of incapacitating pilots without downing them. That split moment of hesitation you get when a plane's target turns yellow is amazing. It helps make you feel like you're fighting against people who happen to be enemies in this situation instead of just "The Big, Bad, Evil Guy."

AC04 would have had the same villainization issue AC5 had with the Belkan Grey Men had it not been for details like learning about Yellow Squadron, the hesitating pilot in Escort, and seeing the state Farbanti was left in after the Ulysses hit.
>>148352954
>>
>>148354016
I forget, was 5 the rushed one?

5 seems to have a lot of the building blocks for a sad story, but sort of cop out towards the end by making Belkans unambiguously evil (instead of say, just wanting back South Belka.) so that you can feel bad about killing Yuktobanians.
>>
>>148353414
>taking the most surface-level approach
Yeah, that's the thing, the games give you little info other than the Soviet Union tier propaganda that is shoved down your mouths. If you want to see the "real" story you have to google translate japanese shit, some of which IIRC doesn't even exist anymore.

I don't know about rushed since it came out little over 4 years after 04, but yeah, the Gray Men really needed more humanization. Hamilton had ever so slight characterization, with genuine rage and resentment behind his words in ACES, but that needed justification.
>>148354465
I haven't read much outside material besides Pixy working for ISAF, but I think the Zero does a pretty good job of justifying all sides and giving them all some fault. The only thing 04 would've had to mention was Erusea being forced to deal with all these incoming refugees after Ulysses hit and it would've been perfect.

>>148354967

Even with just the in-game data, Osea comes across as exploitative.

I forget if the game explicitly uses the words "taking advantage of the situation" but it definitely shows territory ceded to Osea.

Yuktobania seems less imperialist in all this, being too far away to gain territory, and more of a "Why are you even here except to build up WW2 parallels?"

I'm talking about the OBC documentary, actually.
Their graphics show Belka cede territory before the war, because Osea is taking advantage of internal troubles (We can assume good faith on the part of Ustio, etc, as self-determination, but Osea's just being greedy unless those lands are culturally/ethnically Osean anyway.)

Post-war this is rubbed in even more if North Osea is governed from Oured officially, instead of just being a puppet state. (The political status of North Osea still confuses me, whether it was annexed, made a semi-autonomous region of Osea, or just cut off from Belka as a new state.)
>>
>>148366049
Judging by the Osean flag, North Osea became a state of Osea proper

Well now I have an excuse for replaying both AC5 and ACZ. But still, I'm really strongly convinced that if you didn't know what the Belkan war was based the game would come off as extremely onesided 'murikan stand in wanking.

Also I'm pretty sure they got annexed and got ruled with an iron fist.

>>
>>148369495
Considered reading it until findinding the author autism about something.

I can't even remember what. Something like Book 2 going up on pirate bay, leading him to talk about how he expects a return on investment and so on. It was written in a way that put me off bothering.
>>
>>148379042
The publisher he had lined up dropped his book because it wound up on pirate bay.
>>
>>148379993
How does that even work?

(I'm assuming that either it was already available for free, or that someone he sent a pre-publication copy of it leaked it, but in the case of the former why is TPB beyond the pale?)
>>
>>148380174
It was available for free, and still is I believe since the author gave up trying to publish it after that.

I can only assume as part of the print publishing deal, the author would withdraw or take down the free version once the book went to press. Once the author was no longer able to do that, the publisher decided not to invest in it.
>>
>>148380485
>I can only assume as part of the print publishing deal, the author would withdraw or take down the free version once the book went to press.
That seems remarkably scuttlingly Jewish.
>>
>>148380712
Why?
>>
>>148380869
Trying to charge for something that used to be free, and removing a free option to force people towards the paid one.

Sure, it's his thing to do with as he pleases in legal terms, but that doesn't make it any less Jewish.
>>
>>148381073
Gotta make a living, and publishers don't like it when a free alternative exists
>>
>>148381073
How would you feel about the matter if the author wrote the book, and then sold it without ever allowing his fans to read it as it was written?
>>
>>148381283
>Gotta make a living
This justification doesn't fly when it was free in the first place.

>>148381312
If I'm reading the question right, that would just be the standard procedure for creating a book.

That's nowhere near as Jewish as going "Okay, you can read this for free... Oh, you like it? Well then, I'm going to take it offline and if you ever want to see it again you'll open your wallet :^) "
>>
>>148381497
So if you create something, and share it with people without charging for it, you should never be able to profit from it?
>>
>>148381906
You're a kike if you try to lock it away again. That doesn't prevent merchandising or inserting adverts (still pretty Jewish desu.)

Direct sales of books is not the only way to profit from something you've written.

furthermore, the focus on ((profit)) speaks for itself.

Partially memeing when it comes to comparing profit to Jewishness in itself, but it's Jewish as fuck to want to start charging for things that used to be free. Even if he'd just made the next chapter paid, that'd be fine. Trying to take away something that was once free crosses the line into being a kike.

Since those canucks keep banging on about the Avrow Arrow, I decided to stat it up in the RPG on a lark, see how it compares with other planes. The results are surprising.

By comparing the weighted airframe metascore, (Ignoring avionics using my own janky and probably unrealistic formula), in the RPG at least, the Avrow Arrow would be equal or superior to the following planes:

Avrow Arrow - 60

F-35B - 60
Tornado ADV F2 - 59
Su-24M2 - 57
MiG-27 - 53
MiG-23-98 - 60
MiG-23MLD-57
MiG-23M - 54
EA-6B - 52
A-6E - 48
Su-25SM - 57
Su-25T - 55
Su-25 - 53
F/A-18D - 60
F/A-18C - 59
F/A-18A - 58
F-16C Block 50 - 58
F-16A Block 15 - 55
JA-37D - 59
AJS-37 - 58
AJ-37 - 52
F-4E - 58
EF-4C - 55
F-4C - 54
F-8E - 56
Su-17UM4 - 60
Su-17M - 56
F-20 - 54
F-5E - 44
F-5A - 43
F-105G - 49
F-105D - 48
Nesher - 48
Mirage F1CT - 56
Mirage F1 - 52
Mirage 3NG - 56
Mirage IIIC - 47
MiG-21 Bison - 53
MiG-21M - 44

So better luck next time, canada.

A combination of things. top speed, dry thrust, 'Maneuverability', 'Stability', 'Defense', Range, Ceiling, Crew, Radar tech level*, Radar Range*, RWR*, Countermeasure tech and number, ECM*, Gun calibre, # of guns, and Hardpoints.

'' are abstracted stats
* are avionics stats

Basically I just needed a formula to consistently determine how much an aircraft should cost, and roughly compare aircraft. Hence this.
>>
>>148393221
Everyone here is full aware of the jewery afoot
Your taking it to full autismo levels
>>
>>148393425
>'' are abstracted stats
>>
>>148393694
Yeah, take maneuverability for example.

For the game, I want a single stat for maneuverability. Makes things simple on the user end.

On the back end to arrive at a single number to compute the in game value, you need to look at several real world stats, such as:

thrust to weight ratio w/50% fuel
wing loading w/50% fuel
drag ratio
rate of climb
instantaneous turn rate @FL200 w/50% fuel
instantaneous turn radius @FL200 w/50% fuel
Sustained G @FL200 w/50% fuel
Sustained turn rate @FL200 w/50% fuel
sustained turn radius @FL200 w/50% fuel
instantaneous turn rate @ corner V w/50% fuel
instantaneous turn radius @ corner V w/50% fuel
sustained G @ cornerV w/50% fuel
sustained turn rate @ cornerV w/50% fuel
sustained turn radius @ cornerV w/50% fuel

Of course, all of these will change as you go through the flight regime, but I'm not trying to make a simulation here, just relatively accurate as compared to other aircraft.

>>
>>148395362
Currently there are 90 planes statted in the RPG.

The majority of them have a less detailed and more abstracted maneuverability stat, as it's difficult for me to find the necessary information for a lot of the planes to get a complete picture.

I'll just do a quick summary of every section in a little bit
>>
The intruction mentions that the Foxbat-F was specifically made for the european scenario.
It was the "Wild Weasel" version for aerial suppression capable of mounting Kh58 anti-radiation missles.
The prototype's first flight was in 1976, but it took a long time for it to intruced in service.

Second paragraph is about it having fake painted grey radomes to have it look identical to the Mig-25 PD, the interceptor one.
Meanwhile the Mig-25BM lacks the head-mounted radome, translating into a sharper front with a characteristic triangular protrusion beneath it.

Third part is about Mig-25 being already safe from ground-to-air attacks due to the high-altitude flight protecting it and that the BM variant was just another layer of security added.
It still had an hard time to get into service definitely and when it did it was only after some years after the production ended.

The last part says that the Mig-25 BM recieved a longer front to house the new electronic warfare equipment and emission detection.
The antennae configuration recalls that one of the Mig-25RBK.

I'm pretty tired so I could have been kinda unclear in some parts, in any case just ask me for clarifications if you need to.

Servers are definitely acting up.

Tried to join a room, waited for a few seconds then host closed it. Seemed normal, but it appeared again, same mission, same players, closed again. Then joined another, we had a full room for a while then the chat noticed one of the player leaving while he was still listed as ready for sortie and kept like that for a good minute.

Feels like there's some serious ping issues happening

Watching it I mean, you seem to be under the illusion that I have money to get a car or license for this shit.

I've been toying with getting some sort of national license though, that might at least provide some motivation to get /fit/, but most races here are too restrictive on the types of cars by the looks of it. But I've not had the time to properly look into it.

WRC+ is a pretty great source. If you don't want to pay a subscription you can watch short highlights on WRC's YouTube and watch montages made by fans. WRC radio during the events to get live updates and some stages are televised. In America the live stages are broadcasted on Mav TV which is a channel you may or may not have.

With WRC+ you get literally everything for the season. Live broadcasts, highlights, everyone's onboard footage for every stage, live maps, and more. It is pretty neat.
>>
>>148564635
Sadly unless you live in scandinavia, it's very hard to get into rally without becoming part of a national organization.

Walking superweapons would barely make a difference in Ace Combat because you're in a fucking plane anyways, hence why they're either static, underwater or airborne.

Maybe start with WRC's Craziest Moments. Gives you an idea of what to expect and goes over some recent history. You'll probably know by the end if you're interested in it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYgJVCFi0jU

I'd also recommend The Greatest Years of Rallying Vol 1 and Vol 2 if you can find them online somewhere. They go over the early history of rally, the 70s, Group B, then Group A.
>>
>>148566616

Most of those Stangs are running on souped up Griffons. Unlimited only allows piston aircraft IIRC, the jet class is populated by 50s and 60s jets.

I'd also love to know how much of those planes is still original parts, at this point it's probably safe to say, not all that much.

The only real downside to Reno is that it's too damn short and just a circle. I know most air races are, but damn 8 minutes of turning left is not enough. These things used to go on for hours over huge distances.

I'm greatful there's still some idiots out there who just want to put the biggest possible engine on warbirds to go fast though.

Most of the forces driving away ISIS are from Turkey and Iraq, but Kurdish. Erdogan had been, if anything, lenient towards ISIS (maybe hoping ISIS and Kurdish would slowly kill each other), but one should consider how Turkey is still the country that accepted the most refugees from the Syrian crisis so far.

Then again ISIS is so damn crazy that even fucking Al Qaeda thinks they're bad, so yeah, the only place you could find any kind of support to them is in Saudi Arabia due to wahabism

Erdogan has been really impopular since around 2011. In any other middle-eastern country his islamic tendencies would be alright but Turkey's society has been heavily westernized for nearly 100 years. And a lot of people also blame him for failing to bring one of the most promising countries in that region (several policy-makers and scholars regarded Turkey as a new cornerstone in middle-east for being close friends with everyone, including Israel) to a political and economical crisis in less than 5 years.

I can't decide between the three PS2 ones. I know 5 is a memey but I had tons of fun with it as a kid and it felt longer than the other two. On the other hand Zero is basically WWII, which gives it bonus points in my book.

And I just remembered I still need to finish 4.

The other option is 6, but that one just had too few planes and missions for my liking. Still really fun though.
>>
>>148623137
6 was short, but it was extremely well packed.
Few planes, but just the right amount for every plane to fill a gap of some sort, none of them really feel useless as they're all viable at least in some way even towards the end of the game.
>>
>>148618872
Possibly Zero because it has a better gameplay than 4.
The rest is equal.

True, I wish I could play it again every now and then but my brother reclaimed his Xbox. At least I still have the game. Most of the missions were ground attack though, a lot of them were multiple objectives running at the same time. Which I like for some missions but if it becomes the norm it gets a bit tiring.

They were all relatively long missions though which was also nice.
>>
>>148623387
Yeah, the amount of groundpounding did put me off a bit, probably the biggest con in the whole game.
That railgun boss was pretty boss though. Probably one of the more intense moments in the whole series, trying to rush through the whole thing and sweating bullets while hoping that the next round doesn't load in time.
>>
>>148623137
>>148623387
4 felt too tedious and ground attack filled for me, not to mention not very long and barely any planes. Half the lengthy missions were just "Attack ground targets for 15 minutes".
It did however make you feel like you were a hero the most and that you'd just won an entire war basically single handedly.

My personal favourite is probably Zero.
>>
>>148623491
The theme was a bit off on that one though. A nice boss though, if a bit draged out with all the stuff to attack.

That reminds me, how many boss fights did Joint Assault have? I remember that game as being stupidly long with a boatload of "boss" levels. The only offputting thing about that one was the sudden "Mission Update" teleports and the lack of Strangereal.
>>
>>148623606
Pretty much like every other level was a boss fight of some kind. Shit, you were fighting an aerial fortress right in the second mission.

I wish there was an HD version of that game. The fortress design wasn't as good as ACX though, Gleipnir is still top tier.

>>
>>148654975
Sure they couldn't detonate them as they are But they could dismantle them and manufacture a pistol detonator type nuke with the fissile materials. Fucking everyone could build a nuke of that type.
>>
>>148655171
If they manage to get their hands on the devices and properly disassemble them without rendering them useless or straight up breaking them due to the many foolproof security systems they have, which is incredibly hard to pull off if they try to do it without authorization.
>>
>>148655339
I'm pretty sure that among the US/Brit military personnel there are people that can do that.
>>
>>148655574
No turkish personnel who can do that, though. Also, Turkish chair force doesn't have any planes that can deliver the warheads.
>>
>>148655730
>No turkish personnel who can do that, though
If they're retarded to the point of stealing the nukes they could just coerce the foreign personnel to collaborate.

>Turkish chair force doesn't have any planes that can deliver the warheads.
Irrelevant, as I said they'd manufacture new bombs from the existing nukes' fissile material.
>>
>>148656105
The nukes are NATO shared. If they steal them, they could risk being kicked out of NATO, losing their international reputation, and kissing their EU partnership goodbye. Not to mention that if they try to coerce american/brit personnel into giving them the nukes, they could risk being invaded.

But of course, this will only happen if they do actually manage to get the nukes, and if they feel like getting them at all, since it's be pretty idiotic for Erdogan to even think of using them anyway given the circumstances. He doesn't have any good reason for it.

Don't fret over nukes that won't be launched. Nothing's happening.
>>
>>148656470
>risk
Wouldn't something like that warrant an immediate invasion, no buts no ifs?

>losing their international reputation, and kissing their EU partnership goodbye

>>

Turkey doesn't have anyone to nuke, nor do they have any reputation to threaten anyone with them. They have diplomatic relations with many of its neighbors too, so going nuclear would fuck them up even more than Erdogan already has.

I have watched the streams live, and even went back and watched some of the archived footage. They are terrible. They die almost constantly.

Some of it is probably due to stupid decisions like taking an attacker instead of a fighter in TDM, but they are also just bad at flying and fighting. They do not even make good decisions when selecting loadouts. I have seen them use airbrakes.

Really, the ideal situation would be to remake/port the best of the PS2 library for modern architectures. That would make it easier to port them for Vita and such. The PS2 and 3's unnecessarily cumbersome architectures makes them a bitch to emulate, and impossible at a reasonable price. However, that requires money, and as the industry shows, companies hate making money unless it's with shitty, jewey, and abusive methods.

See how widely spaced the engines are? If you lose thrust from one engine, the plane is going to violently and catastrophically yaw. This was a big problem for early F-14s which also had widely spaced (and shitty) engines.

If the engines are right next to each other, like with an F-15, the yaw effect is greatly reduced.

Alright, so let me expand on that then.

Porting, as opposed to remaking from scratch, is taking code and altering it slightly in order to have it run on a different system.

System architecture is the way things behave and are organized. It's a more abstract concept, but in this case: PS2's architecture is based around the "Emotion Engine" (EE), PS3 around the Cell microprocessor, and x86 is based on the Intel 8086 and 8088 CPUs.

Emulation is using software to have one system act as another. That's the reason emulation on is very CPU dependent. However, some vidya emulators are able to frankenstein a sort of emulator/virtual machine hybrid. This lets them relegate shit to the GPU and such, and lets them do shit like mess with resolution, shading, alpha rendering, anti-aliasing, and other stuff with mixed results depending on the game and console.

Pre-7th gen, N64 and (to a lesser extent) PS2 are known as a bitch to emulate. With Mednafen PS1 existing, PS2 emulates nowhere near as easily as PS1 does, especially when talking about software emulation. Why? Because the EE is not fun nor easy to recreate/deal with. Same thing for a hypothetical PS3 emu cuz "muh cell".

Now, PS3 has SOME PS2 Classics (mostly ones not too reliant/intensive on the EE) and PS4 is getting more, at higher res even.
However, the other guy was talking about PORTABLE PS2 Classics. Now, why has the Vita not gotten access to a PS2 Classics library? This could very easily revive the Vita as it provides a viable portable method of playing well-known, beloved games. I'd say it's cuz emulation is probably not viably possible on Vita. Porting games, however, is entirely possible. However, that requires a lot more work. Bluepoint had to literally reverse engineer consumer copies of MGS2-3 in order to port them.

Is that explanation better?
>>
>>148766135
While fly by wire and computer assistance can help, to a degree, the fact that there have been numerous crashes, and deaths, involving planes that have been fitted with these systems show it's not something that can simply be ignored.

Christ almighty, look, everyone here has known software mode has gotten rid of the graphical issues, but the problem has been a) if your CPU was up to snuff, and b) you might as well just play it on PS2 since you're still stuck at 480p. It is running faster for me now, although still not at an optimal speed. However, I'm also on a stronger computer than the one I had last time I tried emulating AC, so I don't know if it's the new CPU, the improvements to PCSX2, or both.

But, AGAIN, until we see the same thing happening on a Vita (or any fucking portable for that matter), you haven't disproved my point. In fact, the problems emulating AC had are still fucking there, proving how annoying it is to deal with. I bet you Snake Eater still has the same problems as well. Btw, congrats on upgrading to two sentences. Now you just gotta work on actually saying something.

How you went in "pls make a port mode" as if it's an easy thing to do, how you stated that emulating AC and PS2 games is a bitch in general while it really isn't.

By the way, welcome to the filter.

I never implied making a port was easy, I said it was ideal, dumbass. Whether you misunderstood me is your problem. When PPSSPP can emulate PSP games on a phone no problem while you need to overclock a 2500k to get AC running smoothly, I'd say both AC and PS2 emulation is a bitch.

Sure is dead in here though. Do you aces have any little stunts you like to do in any AC missions? Whether that's underflying bridges, dodging buildings, or other flashy moves, what cool shit do you do and in what mission?

Sure, but it was a good excuse to shit on assault horizon. Excepting assault horizon and the GBA one, then. All the others (air combat 22 and the booths that aren't the Nosferatu DFM one) are all fair game
>>
>>148802590
I remember when I was streaming ACX, I was doing something during the Gleipnir level that some anon said "he's gonna fucking crash" but I managed to pull off. If I remember correctly, what I did was fly straight at it from the front when it was falling, destroyed the last parts of it, pitched up, skimmed along the belly, and then fly back forwards.

In AC4, I always try some cool way of taking out all the tanks on the first bridge you see in Farbanti and then fly through it, but there's always that one fucking tank at the end of the bridge blocked on either side by the arches.

Farbanti siege is a pain sometimes. The low resolution of the PS2 makes telling what angles you should come in at a huge pain.
>>
>>148806937
Are they? I'm not seeing anything in the catalog or page 0.
>>
>>148805881
Farbanti's opening bombing run is comfiest if you dumbfire you missiles at the battleship, bomb the two tanks to the left of the ship before the bridge, hit the bridge as you fly over it, and gun down the SAM. At least, that's what I've been doing.

>Mission failed. Pops lost sight of me
>Have to do the entire fucking dull sequence again.
Fuck.

AC5 really has too many missions where you're just flying incredibly slowly around radar bips and following some geezer. There's not exactly many but there's still way too many, they're just not fun.
>>
>>148806937
Why should we care?
>>
>>148810978

>>148809024
The follow missions are obnoxious, doubly so because AC5 has no checkpoints. They're as bad as escort missions in my eyes.
>>
>>148807862
What's your favorite way of taking out Stonehenge? I love strafing it's perimeter as fast as I can, close to the ground, only coming up to shoot down any fighters that come near, taking shot at the railguns now and then. One time I wanted to try to take each railgun head-on with the rocket launcher. That was only time I died due to Stonehenge, twice.
>>
>>148811167
They ARE escort missions. That said, I really like Solitaire.
>>
>>148811667
How is following someone an escort mission? I don't follow (lol).
>>
>>148811383
UGBMs on the F-14. Make one neat circle as fast as i can, then head north at full throttle. Aim for the yellow to the immediate right of the middle and joust. Generally for canon runs i go F-4->F-14->F-22.
>>
>>148811860
You escort the plane in mother goose, you get escorted in the pops mission.
>>
>>148812492
Is the F-14 in AC4 an F-14D or F-14A? It has XLAA which makes me think F-14D.

If you guys want a good reference on the Tomcat, I'd suggest Danny Coreman's 'Uncovering the F-14 Tomcat.'

Recently just picked myself up a copy, amazing piece of work on the Tomcat. It doesn't go into the history, specs, or stories, but it has a ridiculous number of pictures that show you every detail of the bird.
