How can you tell a gym is friendly? Im team mystic and i see a gym with blue light above it but i can only challenge it and not train.

If you have a nice concentration of pokestops and people are activating lures, then you stay there and farm the stops while catching common pokemon like pidgeys, caterpies, and such.

You hoard one type of pokemon so you can get as many candies for that pokemon as possible. When you get enough to evo a large number of those pokemon, you pop a lucky egg, then evo them all. Large exp burst ensues.

If you can match this up to an egg hatch, even better. If you focus on catching pidgeys and avoid "new pokemon", then when the egg hatches, you have a slightly better chance of getting the "new pokemon" exp bonus as well.

Look on the bright side, if you have a gym and pokespot, technically you too, can get pokes over 1k CP.

Powerleveling to level 10 isn't actually that hard at all. Being able to control a gym will help substantially for defender bonus. If you can flip gyms quickly and consistently, even better. But even without, you can slowly hoard rattatas and do the evo/lucky egg grind.

Granted it wears down on your sanity.

Well at first you trade them off as soon as you get them, since to evolve you need a large amount of candy anyways (12 per Pidgey). It's only after you've gotten a good stack of Pidgey that you should actually go about with using the lucky egg and evoing a full batch.

Say you have 144 candy, then you go and catch 12 more pidgeys, evo them all at once.
12 * 1000 = 12k exp right there. Of course really you want to collect more than that, but how many you should collect is dependent on how easily you can get lucky eggs.

Level 10 to 12 costs 20k exp, but that's where you start to get Great Balls. Level 12 to 15 is 35k exp total meanwhile. By then you'll start to see higher CP monsters.

It wasn't all pidgey. I just waitied until I had a bunch of everything to evolve. But it was maybe a day and a half.

I actually wasn't super efficient about it b/c I didn't hear about the method until yesterday and had been transferring my pidgeys and other pokes while just keeping the strongest to evolve.

Yeah but most Ingress veterans can look at this game and immediately recognize that this is literally Ingress, with a layer of pokemon painted on top. The only thing new is the AR, otherwise all the concepts are the same as Ingress. It does the same for me sometimes. Doesn't really cause any problems though, I only get softbanned for it like once every hour or so. And then the softban itself doesn't even last an hour, so I'm straight back to grinding.

If you're using FakeGPS paid and the "move around location" thing, don't bother. Disable that, then just move in smallish increments and you'll still get the egg steps. A fast way to do it is

Niantic has basically taken a "once burned twice shy" attitude since they first started making Ingress, and generally they have very little contact with their player base, and they very rarely respond to feedback/criticism. It's why Ingress vets who are playing this game have no high hopes for it improving much.

If Nintendo wants to force Niantic's hand, they might do it, but there's no telling what will happen so far. Thing to basically wait and see.

Every system that's been proposed has implications if it isn't handled properly, from trading (Limits on trading, requirements for trading, real world pokemon selling) to PVP (Limits on PVP, actual battle balance, connection stability) to their poor servers, and of course the world at large. Too many problems, and really not a peep from Niantic.

Yes, there's the outer circle, which is stale and doesn't move.
Then you have the inner circle. The inner circle keeps moving from big to small. The smaller the better chance of catching the pokemon. You don't have to hit the pokeball in the small circle, only for extra experience points.
The color of the inner circle indicates how hard it will be to catch it. Green indicating easy moving up to red for hardest. The color depends on the CP of the pokemon.
