Two girls in college told me they liked me, one even asked me if I wanted to come to her house since her parents weren't here.

This is actually a commonly used tactic, though mostly against city states. Pretty much no one builds a worker but steals from city states anyway, so after stealing it you don't immediately peace out and continue stealing/upgrading your units against them. Usually works perfect. If used against other civs cripples them really hard

Continuing

The Mex Fed has started to colonize seriously the 4th galactic arm now. We have explored much of the galaxy and encountered most civiliztions by now. The biggest ones right now are the Han People's Republic, the Heaven's mandate, the Yayoi Empire and us. We are also the third most numerous species, behind yayois and chinese.

Nigeria keeps insulting us and the visegradians and they have made a pact with the hindus so war seems inevitable now.

If you open ship design you must be able to see wich Gas your ships use as fuel.
It's either caslon, hidrogen or... the other one.
You need it in large quantities, make sure to build several more gas mining stations or secure trade agreements with someone who has it.

Ha, okay. Can't private ships get it? Some of them are gas miners.

It's my only hope without restarting a new game because I'm 100% out of fuel here.
>>
>>147910140

Private ships can get it but maybe you need more. The market can correct itself given enough time but you may want to push things a little. Manually search for more caslon or whatever and send your construction ships to build stations.

It's going to take a while, but hopefully I'll be able to correct the situation.

>Hitler was elected

Yeah, as chancellor. Then he used entirely non-democratic means to elect himself God-Emperor for life and throw the constitution out the window after Hindenburg died.

Plus he deliberately crippled the parliament's ability to act on the very issues he was using to rally support by causing constant elections via walk-out whilst using propaganda to spin it as the government being unwilling to solve said issues due to corruption, so that it would boost his vote % each time.

He perpetrated the very inefficient government he claimed to be against, just to seize personal power.

Hardly a beacon of democracy.

In Stellaris, is there any reason to use cruisers mixed in with battleships late game instead of only battleships? Fleetpower-wise they are equivalent, but battleships die harder, regenerate more health (since regeneration in a percentage per month) and stack more armor. Any reason to mix in corvettes with destroyers in your fleet instead of using only destroyers for screening bigger ships? I'm thinking of using a fleet composition of 4 destroyers ber battleship, plus two battleships per aura type (offensive and defensive).

No, that would be broken. They would become complete powerhouses in late game.

Or maybe, only make them able to reincarnate if they die from old age.

In fact plutocratic oligarchy and megacorp may be stronger throughout the game than any military government. Between the energy boost, and the super cheap mining stations. They can ramp early and maintain late.

The ship upgrade cost isn't a bad bonus on its own, but compared to plutocratic oligarchy it just doesn't compete early. And late game you aren't upgrading nearly as much and mineral income isn't as crucial as early game.

Military dictatorship has some decent bonuses, and military republic is pretty good for hyperlane only games. They ended up fixing military junta a bit, it just doesn't compete even between the other two military governments.

This is a problem us humans are running into actually. Our lives are getting longer, but "useful" years (aka years spent not bedridden and capable of coherent thought) have stayed more or less the same since the dawn of time. For most humans, the useful years end at roughly 70.

It very well may be the case that these spacefaring civilization realized this too, and simply chose to let their elders die than waste resources needlessly elongating lives. Even better if they have the cloning tech and can simply transfer consciousness over bodies like Tleilaxu.

Boudicca, since Im pretty good with it.

Initially I thought I would get scrubbed away because they have been playing since a while, but they didnt even knew about stealing workers from city states and that kind of stuff.
So after a horrible start due to a shitty location full with desert and ice (thanks map generator) outside of my forest city I managed to pull ahead quite a bit.

Im expecting an all out-warfare against me in the end game but we are playing on a 10 player map with 5 AIs. I dont really feel like going for domination since that would take quite long when everybody allies against me.

lmao, it looks like you can win it.

Which policies you went for? I guess you could go for cultural victory because it is really easy with Boudicca if you went piety, but I don't know would cultural work in MP

Also don't only think about improving your civ, also think about how to make things worse for other civs. For example the reason why Dandolo is so bad in MP is because even if people don't go for domination, they still DoW Dandolo and raid his caravans, making him completely useless. Depending on other guys' civs you can do the same I guess

Also desert tiles get shitload of oil in the late game, don't underestimate them
>>
>>147928882
I went for tradition and patronage (since I discovered a shit ton of city states near me and we have super aggressive barbarians and Im getting loads of quests through this).

My intention was to keep whatever victory condition open for the time until I read university (which I just finished when we saved the game last night) and then decide what Im going for.

The good or bad thing (depending on your view) is that Im on some lonely island, thats connected to a continent full of AIs. All the human players are on a different continent I havent found yet so raiding them will be a bit difficult but they also cant easily raid me.

Also all AIs are per default my allies since it doesnt seem like my collegues know how to into Civ 5 AI. None of them has ever paid an AI to declare war and that kind of stuff.

Theres 1 guy how knows some stuff, though. Hes playing Shoeshones and before I joined the game he had been the one raping the group all day because of a godly early religion. But I messed that up for him by stealing the best perks together with AI Haile, so I dont know how he will keep performing now that his main strategy is dead.

One of the most important thing about being in contact with other civs is technology. For a technology, for every civ you met that knows the technology, its research point drops for you. Also trading with other civs(by caravans) will give you(and them, depending on techs) science points. But it looks like you're not completely alone, the AI civs should be enough for you for now.,

Tradition was a bad choice if you ask me, Boudicca is more suited for wide. Though I had games where I went wide even with tradition because how OP that tree is, perhaps you've done the same

Pocatello doesn't really need a religion to be strong, his amazing scout unit gives him a great start and thanks to Civ V's snowballing system he usually does well, even when he's AI.

Also check for victory conditions to see who's going for what victory and who's getting which wonders. Because you haven't met them you won't see this of course but keep it in mind. Also try to be first to ideologies for that sweet free 2 policies. You already know which techs to prioritize, how to manage your GPs, how to manage your tiles(that growth/production "exploit"), etc right?
>>
Why didn't Paradox give us a land unit designer for Stellaris? I want to give my theocratic birds some bitchin' power armor and gamma ray rifles.
>>
So is it possible to win in Stellaris peacefully?

Just got rekt by a military alien because he's building closer and closer to my border and then he attacks me. His main army has 3k attack while my defense army only had 1.5k, only had 1 ally with a 1k ship but he bailed when the 3k ships attacked my capital.

Also how to or tips on making alliances?
I traded my special resources with 4 other alien races but only managed to get 1 to ally with me. (they all had around +120 points).
>>
>>147930764
Yeah I have already played quite a few SP games and read stuff, so I think Im fine with the basic things. Though I actually didnt know meeting other civs reduces technology point costs, thanks.

I also feel like Tradition was not a good choice in hindsight. I was scared of early warmongering and getting raped by the other humans since I already heard them talking about doing this often, so I decided to stay small, but thats now kind of biting me in the ass.
>>

So, I maintain fleets of screening destroyers and battleships in a 4:1 ratio. Should I use armor, plating or shields and which type on which class? My main enemy that has the capacity to match me seems to use mixed designs with neutron, devastator torpedoes, one lance and some plasmas on its battleships.
>>
>>147932016
In Civ food/growth is calculated at the end of your turn whereas production is calculated at the start of your turn.

So you set your citizen focus to production focus, which means it will automatically put people on production tiles. But you don't let it automate, you lock citizens to food tiles yourself. This means, when a new citizen is born he'll immediately put on a production tile and because production tiles are worked at the start of the turn, he'll give you production as soon as he's born. But after that you assign him to a food tile, and in the same turn he gives you food too, Basically everytime a citizen is born you get twice of effect of a citizen

Not something gamebreaking but definitely puts you above other civs

crystal plating on destroyers and neutronium armor on battleships.Armor has the most value on BS because their base armor is already pretty high, with the right strategic resources and upgrades you can get 70% Armor on a BS easily. extra HP for destroyers for soaking more incoming damage.

Two things :
Stellaris is made by Paradox, who's famous for making good games, but after a lot of debugging and 5 DLCs.
Stellaris just came out.

Think about it.
>>
>>147941218
Stellaris is barebones (to say the least) at the moment but it's incredibely accessible and fun up to the midgame. Lategame it becomes a bit of a chore, but what 4x doesn't?
>>
A bit off-topic, but has any of you managed to get immerged in a 4X?
I just had a discussion about immersion with a friend, and he told me it's impossible to get sucked in a strategy game, that you're always a spectator, unlike in RPGs or FPS.
>>
>>147941969

The question is how much sandboxing it has versus actual gaming. Civ 5 for example creates little immersion for me while Stellaris goes in the right direction.

Civ suffered from it, Paradox does, just... I miss the era of buying expansions in the box from the store with a worthy vanilla game off the bat. I wonder how everything can get off the internet, and I am aware of the irony saying that on a Hunnic culture victory imageboard.

>>
>>147947675
Depends on faction and victory type
Broken lords and roving clans typically go wide for massive amounts of trade routes
Wild walkers you can do whatever the fuck you want
Vaulters need to be tall to use endless recycling
Cultists and Allayi are pretty much forced to be tall
Necrophages can be both because of cellulose mutation
Good luck with forgotten lul

Zoroastrianism was not depraved, you're thinking of Nahuatl or that Egyptian snake God.

I think Paradox expects you to assume the sacrifices or sibling sex is going on, since it never explicitly mentions who your leader is married to or the details of their worship.
>>
>>147950401
Isn't Zoroastrianism the one where you have a sacred family that mustn't mix their blood?

I dunno, it annoys me a bit that religion is always so underwhelming in Paradox games.
People go to war more easily because of religion rather than because of politic.
>>
>>147950773
A casus belli is not necessarily the actual reason people to go war. You can say it is a Holy War, but there are always other more substantial reasons.

That is a Total War-scale thing, not a Civilization-scale thing. ONE army, composed entirely of spearmen who took up an entire mountain pass, held off entire armies composed entirely of spearmen and warriors respectively for decades? Really?

Paradox games had the right idea. If you don't have Total War battles, then it comes down to mashing stacks with attrition and terrain bonuses. Civ IV's doomstacks still made sense, a spearman could hold a hills-forest-river mountain pass against like six or seven attacking spearmen for a good turn, not for 20.

AoW is better gameplay-wise imo. Also even the latest version of Enchantress have a large amount of bugs ranging from minor to near gamebreaking.
>>
>>147982229
Ha. Too bad then, because I have Age of Wonders and I never found it fun.
>>
>>147981697
Very like AoW, both are born from Master of Magic. FE's big thing is random maps, custom factions and custom units. Unfortunately it's AI isn't as good and most units start to feel the same since you tend to craft the same units whatever faction you play it. I liked the quests and city building in FE.

Don't have any space based 4x.

Nah, Master of Magic has more focus on economy.
Age of Wonders and that other 4X I tried that was based on Majesty are more oriented on combat.
Especially the unamed one, you're literally constantly under attack in that one.

>>147982656
Stellaris is basic and will need tme to be good.
Distant Worlds is old and ugly but complete and has many mods.
Sins is a bit a boring.

so is there any sort of fix for warscore in stellaris? I get that it's supposed to calm down suddenly wiping shit out but god damn getting to do jack shit to an enemy before he surrenders and then waiting 10 fucking years is stupid. Maybe a research that increased potential warscore?
>>
>>147987784
Warscore is fine and increasing the cap wouldn't make any sense, since it's a percentage. The issue is costs. Some ruler traits affect warscore costs, so it would probably be simple to implement cost-reducing techs.

Don't expect much, all Paradox games are like that

Dido because she betrays fucking everyone, it's fun to watch. Augustus because he's usually successful and I like his AI table

>least favourite AI
Genghis
Because of his AI variables he warmongers too early and stupidly tries to conquer city states. He angers others civs too early and gets his shit pushed by back them, he fails in everygame he's in. That AI is really not suited for Genghis. I wish they would have fixed it somehow

I started playing with Historical speed mod. Where techs are of the speed of marathon but units are of normal I think. Combine it with YNAEMP's Giant Earth and you'll have a game that lasts weeks, but you won't get bored like marathon because of many, many wars that happen. Use it with a higher difficulty though as that makes AI more aggressive and expansionist

Are you talking about diplomatic victory? You either have to outinfluence them or take out them. Though remember taking city states is fucking huge warmonger penalty, it will hurt your relationship with all nations. City state AI is really bad, like any other AI in the game

City states are usually not worth taking, the penalties they give is just too much. Just check the national congress(?) to check how many delegates they have. If you can get another victory before they get enough delegates go for it, otherwise you have to take out city states

Note: For every city state you take out, the needed delegates to become the world leader will get lowered by one. Every city state gives 2 delegates, so it's still good for you but not as much as you think
>>
>>148028656
We're still in medieval age, and world congress hasn't started yet. Not sure how many city states he has, but I've found 16 and he has all of them. The lowest one needs 200 more influence before I can ally with it.

Should I just go for his capital? Won't the city states send units after me, or will it not be significant? Last time I tried for the capital he had 50 Landsknechts at least.

>>148029452
>but I've found 16 and he has all of them. The lowest one needs 200 more influence before I can ally with it.
>he had 50 Landsknechts at least.
Check his GPT, if he's still on positive his economy is fucking great and the guy snowballed really hard, chances are you can't solo him. Pay some AI to attack him, when he's busy on some other front you rush him

City states will send units to you but using Civ V's AI, the AI that unironically embarks to lake tiles during a war. Even if you have like 20% of their numbers you should be able to successfully defend

>>148029852
Is that an 1v1 game? Otherwise other players are bad as well, Venice shouldn't be able to survive this long. You guys had to start raiding his trade routes the moment he got them
>>
>>148029852
Also a note, you know that Venice can't annex any other city and only puppet them, right? If you take his capital, even if he takes it back he can't annex it. He'll only be able to puppet it which means he won't be able to choose what to build. Taking his capital will simply defeat him

Militaristic city-states periodically gift units to their ally, and those units can be unique units belonging to a civ not in-game. He's probably getting too many of those units and just sending them back to the city states, for protection.

>I think we might've ignored him too long.
You did. Venice is considered dumpster-tier in MP because it can't do shit if you raid their trade routes and embargo city states.

He probably annexed city states and is setting food via trade routes, find the route between his other cities and pillage them, his capital should literally starve after that. The food you get from trading with your own cities is huge

Yes, that's after upkeep costs. Pretty much all the time, Enrico is the first one to get taken out of in MP games, you guys really shouldn't have ignored him but he's still not strong. If you pillage his trade routes he'll go bankrupt quick, after that you can easily go ahead and conquer him

A little overview of our half of the galaxy now.
The Heaven's mandate (chinese) has beaten the dharma foundation (dalit buddhists) and the brasilians and taken the brazilian homeworld. Very sad.

The Malays have swallowed half of the Universal Caliphate as well and the Han collectivists have been growing unopposed all this time, making them the most unmerous species in the galaxy, just like old Earth.

As you can see, the biggest empires are the pacifist yayois (japanese & koreans), the Han collectivists, the heaven's mandate and myself. Bonus points for the malays because they have utterly crushed a bigger empire all by themselves, i dont know how. They are now a minority in their own country, arabs outnumber them 2 to 1.

I'm still expecting for all those awesome mid-game events and the space nomads paradox promised for 1.2. Havent seen shit.

agrarian sucks even at 15% that's 3 food per 20 produced. You're saving building a level 2 farm.

Is there a mod that allows me to edit tiles of sectors?

One of my sectors became food insufficient

and starvation and unhappiness really stack hard against each other. So when you're starving, you're unhappy, when you're unhappy you produce less, when you produce less you make less food and when you make even less food you're even more unhappy

>>
>>148043230
5%
>>
>>148043468
Planets have small upkeep for themselves but generally you want to colonize planets with at least 10 tiles and at least 10 planet size or bigger.

Larger planet size generally means more tiles but also determines how much stuff you get back. A planet will generally take a year to colonize and another year to effectively start paying itself off.

>>148043403
It has farms, it actually has more than enough farms to feed itself but its -3 for food because the people are so stupidly unhappy and are constantly revolting. They're unhappy because they have no food, they have no food because they're unhappy

I can't install another farm that would easily get them positive but the governor isn't redoing tiles like he should when I have the "respect tile resources" turned off, he should be turning tiles into shit he needs but isn't.

So to unfuck one planet (thats actually very energy and mineral rich) I have to blow upwards of 200 influence to undo the sector to unfuck it. Because apparently I'm not allowed to change tiles if its in a sector

>>
>>148043468
core planets stick to tile resources. blank tiles use for labs or energy. Core planets get 100% in energy/minerals whereas sector only give a max of 75% so it's more effecient to have core planets producing energy/minerals and sector focusing on research because they grant 100% of their research points.

nope. planets have to produce their own food. What are you in the red for? minerals, energy or food? Build more of what you're missing.
>>
>>148044168
Actually they could, but it costs 150 to give a planet +25% food for 10 years, or I could blow 200 and unfuck the planet permanently

10 years should be more than enough time to unfuck their happiness I think. Not entirely sure but I'll gamble it
>>
I want to make a small dinky fleet of nothing but torpedo corvettes like "stealth bombers" that engage from super long range.

what missiles should I use? I have Marauder missiles but I'm not sure if I should invest in other missiles

why 200 influence? It costs 25 influence to cut a planet away from the sector. You dont have to dismantle it entirely.

Also, have you given the sector resources back? This is a very powerful tool. When i detect a problem like this i bombard the sector with 2000 minerals.

Civ 5 combat is actually less complex than civ 4's. Doomstacking is a terrible tactic that gets your army destroyed by collateral damage, so you're forced to split up and take into account things like stack composition, which aren't present in Civ 5 which is basically 4's combat with a layer removed.
>>
>>148042247
Well, I wanted a general re-balance and to give more options for fleets flesh it out a bit, so If you want to go corvette heavy you can neglect the research for large weapons and so on.

The research felt over by about mid game so I added 2 more tiers although it probably could use a third.

There really isn't much thought behind a couple of things such as projectiles or energized armour other than lets throw it in and see what happens.

I never understood why they didn't with the limited stacks like call to power games did
or why stacks were such a big problem in 4 when they have been preset since the first one
>>
>>148048332
They were always a problem, they just became more of a problem in 4 because unit counters became a thing.
So you have a stack of a spearman, an axman, and an archer, anything melee the axman will defend against, anything mounted the spearman, and anything else the archer, where earlier titles you did not have those static bonuses against specific units. Or you may have in three I don't know I never played it I went from 1 to 2 to ctp to 4. But because of that you either needed to counter the stack specifically or bring a disproportionately large force to go on the offensive.
>>
>>148048332
>or why stacks were such a big problem in 4
They were bigger problems in 3 where there were very weak drawbacks to doomstacking. Ranged units were nowhere near effective as damaging large stacks as collateral damage or civ 2's overkill destroy every unit in the stack if the first defender dies.

In singleplayer, they really were only if you didn't know how to play the game. Obviously if you attacked stacks and cities without bringing along adequate siege weapons then you'd take massive casualties. The AI didn't know how to counter stacks with collateral damage and all you had to do to win wars most of the time was put all your units in one stack and roll them over, "doomstacking"

In multiplayer it's a different story. Play against people who know what they're doing and doomstacking will get your armies killed fast. This leads to split up armies all over the place, resembling civ 5's mechanics except the armies have a dimension of depth to them.
>>
>>148048793
>where earlier titles you did not have those static bonuses against specific units.
Thats wrong, pikemen > tanks is one of the oldest civ memes for a reason
>>
>>148048332
I don't like unlimited stacks because they aren't fun and you can never tell how many units you need. You just build more and more and hope you have enough.
Limited stacks are fine and I'm glad they're bringing the "army" system from Revolution to Civ 6.

>I don't like unlimited stacks because they aren't fun and you can never tell how many units you need. You just build more and more and hope you have enough.
I agree but they actually worked because AI could use them, with Civ V's 1UPT system AI went completely retarded. I hope AI can use its new system in Civ VI

Guy fighting Venice here. Things are not going according to plan.

The other two human players have been fighting a war with three of the AIs for a while now, and I'm wondering if Venice was bribing the AIs. They aren't losing by any means, but they're too busy to help at the moment.

I figured I couldn't take the capital directly without way more units (fucker literally had landsknechts fortified on every single land tile), so I just ran around with knights and galleasses sacking all his trade routes to starve him out. When the screen showed there were no more trade routes going to or from his capital, I opened up the trade screen to find that he was still making +130 GP a turn. Turns out he'd puppeted a city state on the other end of the map, probably when I'd started raiding, and I guess he was making all his trades through that one now. I never saw a merchant leave his capital, so maybe he had one there ahead of time.

Rather than try to keep two cities cut off, I whipped up what I'd hoped was a good-sized invasion force to take it from him. It was on an island, so lots of galleasses to escort the siege and land units. Then I learned Venice has better galleasses, and he'd managed to make ten of them in the ten turns he'd had the city. The trade routes going out of there looked like a god damned spider web. My 'invasion force' sank.

The map showed that he'd puppeted a third city state near a few of my cities, and a few turns later it vomited what couldn't have been less than 20 lancers and eight cannons at me. Two of my cities were razed. His GP stockpile was down to 3,000 from the 25,000 it was before, but on the next turn it shot back up to 10,000 GP. How?

The whole time, there were no trade routes connected to his capital. His capital never starved. In fact, it actually went up to 32 from 30. Also, he had a Khan sitting in his capital. How the fuck does Venice get a Khan?

What the fuck.
>>

>>
>>148053682
Sounds like he had merchants stacked out the wazoo, just waiting for shit to occur. Probably filled out the patronage tree, which means that all of his city states were boosting his science, culture and great people. Since he had landknechts, he obviously went commerce for insane gold boosts, and additional merchants of venice. Probably ended up just buying merchants for faith if he had a religion started, then converting them to thousands of gold. His khan was gifted to him by a city state, along with a lot of other GPs no doubt.

Truly nobody expects the Venetian inquisition. Your fault for letting him synergise his mad money generation with influence over literally all CS.

So I just beat the Tzryyn empire or whatever they're called (one of the default empires) when they had overwhelming power rating compared to mine. They kept all their ships in one fleet. I had 3 small raiding fleets darting around their territory, shooting up all their stations and spaceports. Every time the enemy fleet showed up in the same system as one of the raiding fleets, I would order my fleet to jump to a different system. The enemy fleet would immediately set course for one of my other fleets, even if I cancelled the jump and went back to wrecking the system. This went on for about 5 years (25% ws) until I had built a big enough fleet to challenge theirs. I drew their fleet into a trap with military stations and wiped the floor with them. After chasing the survivors back to their homework and finishing the job, they surrendered to my demands. I originally asked to liberate 4 of their worlds (an empire they conquered previously), kicking myself as I could have vassalised them completely, but I didn't expect to actually win the war. I feel like I completely gamed the AI, anyone else had the same? Playing fanatic pacifist, defensive wars only.

Those were some terrible choices.

You should have used the merchant on Wellington for the food and saved cash to buy stuff. Militaristic city state so early when you're so isolated is worthless. Plus, you weren't in a rush for happiness as well, even if they had their luxury upgraded.

how the hell did call to power's battle system work

the game looks very unusual for being a ripoff of the mainline civ series, I never played it but I wish I did
>>
>>148084815
This is what i recall since i havent played in over a decade:
Instead of combat being in the main window, it occured in a subwindow, and the combat was automatic.
Each side had three rows.
front, back and civilian
melee units placed themselves on the front, unless you had too many melee units so the extra where placed in the back, and could only attack the enemy front line
range units placed themselves on the back row, unless there were no melee units to cover them and could attack from and to the second row
civilian units were placed at the backest back, and only went to combat if the combat units were killed (i think some could defend themselves like the ecoterrorist)

CtP1 also had sea colonies, future tech and units, space map with colonies (which was fucking broken, 1/256 movement there), no workers (you could produce a resource you used for building tittle improvements and the world got affected by polution. also hippy vans able to delete cities from the map (unlike nukes)
It was a crazy game and while it has some problems, i remember it fondly
>>
>>148086606
This sounds like a system that could've been used for ground combat in Stellaris.
Though I guess in the end it would still just be stacks of units fighting each other.
Why can't ground combat be as dynamic as space combat? I'm not saying it needs to be simulated with fully-modeled 3D infantry and armor, icons would do.

>>148100053

>>
>>148100469
Civ V? No improvement overrides the tile's main improvement. About trading posts, unless you have trading posts grow to towns mod, don't build them ever except for your puppet cities and except for jungles. Jungles give you 2 science, 2 food and you can build trading posts in them without removing the jungle which is makes jungles pretty good. Otherwise never build them in your main cities, they're simply useless

Also you can build them in tiles where you can't build anything else, like tundra or snow, but you really shouldn't have your people work those tiles anyway. They're better being a specialist somewhere

Amarr Empire here again

Thanks to help from you guys here my empire is now easily tied for 1st in the entire galaxy.

So a little update.

I flew south and invaded Confederated Netraxi Realms a few times, I set very low war goals that I could easily swarm, kill and collect super easy. The Netraxi's war goals were always super huge and they never made any real progress.

My fleets are fucking huge! 1st, 2nd and 3rd Amarrian Navy's are pretty much clones of each other, mostly battleships with some cruisers sporting projectile weapons in case I warp in on top of enemies that have too much shields. The cruisers also have one Tachyon Lance, all the battleships are equipped with tachyon lances.

BLOP's fleet is a pseudo-cryptic EVE meme where a bunch of frigates are equipped with torpedos designed around being "stealth bombers". Basically long range corvettes with torps. I use the blops fleet because they're so fast at dispatching shit, shock'n'awe type stuff.

I completely blew away the fallen empire that existed right below me. I'm getting tons of research off it, however all the enemies I have already have Psi Drives which I'm having a hard time competing with despite having Hyperlanes only map.

I'm researching all the wrecks of every war I get into but I can't seem to pick up on Psi-drive technology at all.

That green little snot in the middle of my empire I still can't remove because I bashed them so hard and they're so weak that Netraxi promised to protect them forever and ever now I can't invade dark green snots without a bunch of trouble.

Mandate of Cardorth above me is still my loyal tribute and when I occassionally go to war with Mesh'Ben Imperium they're great at holding them off

I don't think I'll ever touch any DLC for Stellaris.

The base game itself is just too broken I feel. In design, I mean.

Exploring is generally pointless because after the first hour or two there's nothing out there, expansion is a major fucking chore thanks to the sector system and just how the game is designed, there's little to no point in exploiting outside of standard builds and exterminate is an even larger chore than expansion.

Not really, you probably said this because you saw that pretty much every civ has a UU. For example Brazil has an UU but you don't use it to conquer the world. Or Korea has an UU but you don't go conquering the world with them, though you can with Korea because their tech is fucking great and you can easily conquer the world with your soldiers from 2 techs ahead

I think that EL has a lot going for it and I kind of love its artstyle, but there are also numerous problems about it.

Combat is unbalanced and you can be screwed by randomness when it comes to minor faction placement.
Settling is kind of cool on paper and especially on the zoom out, but it can screw you over badly if other players rush-settle you, which wouldn't be a problem if more than 1 city / region was allowed.
Late combat is tedious and gets boring.
Faction quests are not feasible as a path to victory for most of factions. Hell, I think that the factions in EL are almost tied to a victory type, which limits replayability.

Visegrad is almost integrated now as well, my first taste of what 'pacifist' expantion is about. Liberate -> Vassalize -> Assimilate.
It's much more slow than the opposite path (10 years to start integration process, 3 or 4 years to integrate 2-3 planets).

The heavens mandate is getting a little too near us now, and its making the JUST alliance nervous.

Heres the end result. I made a mistake now. I liberated too much planets in one go, and the resulting country is too large for us to vassalize. I've tried giving them gifts and shit, but its not possible. Their too populated now.

The war was so one-sided now, that the nigerians and hindus have decided to enter into a defensive pact with the Heaven's mandate, promising for a much more interesting war in the future.

I know what you mean, I wanted to make it so you can only get 1 of those traits if you didn't have that preference already and only if it was one of the near planet types.
For the primeval trait for example, only those with Desert or Continental preference could get it.
My only problem is I can't understand how to limit it like this.
>>
>>148126986

That's more logical but I'm not sure how to do this. Hopefully someone here can give a tip...

uhh what? collectivists?
>>
>>148126243

xenophile collectivists

The collectivist ethos per se does not give the ethic conformism you are looking for, but the special techs it gives actually do.

>Because it is essentially a wargame

I will never understand this mentality. If I wanted to play a wargame I'd play one of the million of other wargames out there, domination is lterally the least appealing aspect of Civ games, the combat isn't even good.

I just want to see my Civ thrive, improve the happiness of my people, put the world in awe of my scientific advances, spread my religious believes and impose my cultural values on the unwashed masses. That is the stuff that makes Civ unique and fun.

>148113285
I find Babylon and the Byzantines to be pretty good beginner Civs.

Not him, but what we call civilization is usually defined by specifically achievements BESIDES military might - culture, science, architecture, etc.

Rate me:
Traits: Industrious, Thrifty, Sedentary, Slow Breeders.

Ethos: Fanatic Spiritualist, Collectivist.

Government: Plutocratic Oligarchy.

Fanatic Spiritualist removes the Slow Breeder penalty, and I get a +20% income on Energy and Minerals, along with a -25% cost in Mining Stations. Collectivist allows me to enslave, relocate, and purge divergent pops, should any occur despite my significant bonus to conformity.

Am I doing good?
